Cyber Connect Computers

Tom Rhoades agreed to diagnose my computer issues and call with a 24 hour turnaround time. Not only did he not do that, but a week later when I went in the store to pick it up (after not hearing from him), he was rude, angry, and demanded I leave his store. When I asked him why he had not called or fixed my computer he responded that he did not answer to anyone. I had to call the police to get my computer and software back from him. DO NOT take your business to this person. Avoid his store at all costs. Perhaps he knows something about computers, but it's nopt worth dealing with him. Evidently he is opening a new business in a new location. I would never go there either. more

I bought a $900 Gateway laptop from Best Buy. I brought it in to them for a problem 1 year later. The laptop would not power on when I pushed the button. The people at Best Buy said I needed a new laptop and my Gateway could not be fixed. They charged me almost $100 for this good news. I then brought it to Cyber Connect Computers on Hwy 92. They instantly diagnosed the problem as being a known defect with the Gateway power button and switch assembly. They got a replacement in within a few days and I was up and running perfectly with all my data still intact for less than $150. How could you trust anybody else out there. Isn't Best Buy supposed to be the big guys with all the knowledge? I will always take my computers to Cyber Connect from now on. They are by far better than any other computer company in the Woodstock area. Tom and the guys know their stuff! Thanks! more

I just heard a couple days ago from a friend of mine that her son had bought a used computer from Tom Rhoades, the owner of Cyber Connect (the one with the ridiculous side burns), and that when he went to register it with Microsoft, he found out the software was illegal! When he confronted Mr. Rhoades, he threatened to call the police on my friend's son if he didn't get out of his store immediately. This is a close-knit town with lots of hard-working honest people in it. We do NOT deserve to be deceived and screwed over by businesses like this. Hopefully, word of mouth will put this jerk out of business! more

These guys have always been great. I took my laptop to Capricorn (now renamed something else for an obvious reason) and the people at Capricorn could not even solder a broken jack on my Sony notebook. They guys at Cyber Connect not only had a new input jack in stock they had it back to me in about 3 hours. They've never loaded anything illegal on my machines. I even asked if they could load Microsoft Office and they said they could not without the cd and key. I've dealt with other less technical / able companies and if you want something fixed right and not wait 2 - 3 weeks, this is the place to go. Capricorn is a joke and from what I've seen some serious software pirates! more

I got a used computer from Tom Rhoades at Cyber Connect Computers in Woodstock, and I heard from a friend that he was being sued by Microsoft for piracy. So I call their hotline and found out that my software was illegal!! Microsoft told me that I could be in trouble for using it, and I needed to buy new licensed software. There is a site they can steer you to if you are a victim of this sort of thing. . . you only have to pay half price for your new software. Don't buy anything from Cyber Connect. . .they are thieves!!! more

I wanted to help a neighborhood store and take my laptop with a broken screen to a local shop instead of a big retailer. I paid $600 for a new screen which when i picked it up it had a 3 inch scratch down the left side which was very visible. The owner offered me $50 to forget about it. yea right. So his employee told me they ordered a new one. 1 week, 2 week, 3 weeks later still no screen. Then one employee tells me on phone they just ordered it the day before on EBAY. I drove straight to the store and the owner tells me the employee doesnt know what he is talking about. He would never do that. Tom the owner said he would order a new one himself. I waited patiently 2 weeks before i return without a call. When i enter he tells me he droppped the ball and forgot. So i told him lets order one right now together. He tells me it might be a refurbished model. Screw that. i paid the first time for a NEW one. So... here we are, an additional 2 weeks later. still no screen in sight. supposedly he has it there waiting. I dont believe a word he says. I wanted to help my community and support a local business. Do the community a favor and dont support cyber connect. if you do, buyer beware!! more

I try to look at the positive in this world but I could see nothing positive about my experience with this company! They were rude, arrogant, and if you ask me, incompetent. I purchase a used laptop from them (never buy a used laptop!) and when I got it home it wouldn't connect to the internet (among other things that were wrong with it) - when I called them to ask for some assistance, they were rude and they told me "all sales are final" and there would be an additional charge for them to come out and fix it. I called a friend of mine who came over and hit a button or two and viola, I was on the internet! Why couldn't they have told me to do that over the phone? more
