Best

One of my favorite places to eat in Denver. Try the paella or pork sandwich. The pork they use is tender and tastes slightly gamy like the fresh pork my sister used to serve me on...

Worst

I am from Tampa FL, known for authentic cuban food and ""Cuba Cuba"" does not come close. Not to say their food is bad, its just not great, especially for the price. Their black b...

Overall awesome! 7/10/2007

We recently went to Cuba Cuba for my daughter's 27th birthday and wow is this an overall great restaurant! The ambiance is amazing, as is the food and Mojito's. Absolutely the best Mojito's I have had in Denver thus far. I had the Picadillo and it was fantastic. Everyone else at our table said their food was wonderful too. The only negative was the service was slow, it was a Monday night and it was not that busy so we couldn't understand why we waited for 15 minutes for the server to come around and place our orders for drinks, etc. And we waited and waited for food and drink to arrive. The server was very nice, but just not around. However, I will not let that stop me from returning to this fantastic little gem of a restaurant. Please check it out! Pros: Wonderful food, ambiance, best Mojito's in Denver Cons: Parking, the service was SLOW more

JUST A GREAT PLACE TO GO 6/30/2007

We have been frequenting this place for several years and decided it was time to write in. This restaurant deserves some recognition for their comfortable atmosphere, great staff and their straight up cuban food.. no frills. It makes us happy to walk in and experience the energy in this place. We are never disappointed. There tends to be a wait but that gives us time to drink mojitos! Check it out.. its the best!!! don't miss the vaca frita, and sandwiches..they're our favorite. Pros: atmosphere, staff, food and bar Cons: not open for lunch more

Great Atmosphere, Patio and Mojitos 6/22/2007

I have eaten at Cuba Cuba many times. I often take out of town family and friends there when visiting as the atmosphere is awesome, the patio is killer, food is good and the mojitos are out of this world. However, a recent experience won't bring me back for a long, long time. My boyfriend's birthday was this week and we planned to celebrate at Cuba Cuba with another couple. I called a week in advance to order a cake and I was told someone would be getting back to me that day/night. I never heard back from anyone. I was assured that it was no problem to bring in a cake from elsewhere, so that's what I planned to do. A week later, I got a call from someone at Cuba Cuba regarding ordering a cake. I explained the situation and the woman was very nice and receptive. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I spoke to the manager and asked if he would mind putting the cake in the back until we were finished with our dinner. We were met with complete attitude, arrogance and pretentiousness, and told that there was no room in the back and that our cake would be in the refridgerator....where I had specifically asked that it NOT be put. The manager did nothing to make us feel welcome and never spoke to us again. The service was absolutely awful! Our server never introduced herself, let alone said ""good evening"" or ""happy birthday."" Service was slow (we were not spoken to for over 15 minutes) and completely lacking in all areas. That was the first time in 10 years that I haven't tipped 20% or more. If you enjoy a welcoming staff and great service, please DON'T go to Cuba Cuba. Pros: Atmosphere, Patio, Mojitos Cons: Service more

Nice, will give it another try 2/19/2007

I heard so much about this place but when I went a few weeks ago I was mildly disappointed. I had the piccadillo and did not think it had much flavor. The creme brulee and coffee were wonderful however. Pros: Lovely atmosphere, okay parking Cons: Dinner was a little bland but perhaps it was an off night more

not what it used to be. 12/27/2006

I don't know what happened to the food. The last time we dined at cuba cuba the food was incredible. Pros: mojitos Cons: menu more

Best Mojitos in the city 12/5/2006

This place is always packed and for good reason. The food is excellent and the staff is always friendly. Pros: Excellent mojitos and great food Cons: Small dining area so there is usually a wait...but worth it more

Cuba Cuba can't be beat on atmosphere and drinks! 9/17/2006

Have been to Cuba Cuba several of times now. There is usually a wait, which is just as well because it gives us an excuse to take a seats at the drums and order some mojitos and appetizers. The food is wondewrful and reasonable and the drinks can't be beat! Try a mango mojito and the paella. Pros: Mojitos, ambience, food more

Simple Preparation with Fresh Ingredients 8/25/2006

We only waited 20 minutes on a Friday night, and the bar area is a great place to wait and have a mango mojito. The service was attentive and friendly. The dining room was lively and had great atmosphere. Shrimp appetizer was great, but small for two. I was recommended the new steak appetizer and the chimichurri sauce was perfect, spicy and flavorful. The dessert was the best part, rum glazed banana pastry with roasted banana ice cream! Pros: Service, Fresh ingredients, great drinks Cons: not enough Vegetarian choices more

greatest authentic cuban food...period. 6/15/2006

we love it & need to share it with everyone. great lively envt...good service and great bartenders. they get busy on weekends so we make it a night and cocktail in the patio-- like you are on vacation. Pros: parking, patio, can come at the last minute b/c no reservations... Cons: ? i wish there was another one to frequent more

The people working here made me sad. 5/25/2006

Two bad experiences have soured me. 1) we were seated at a table and were having drinks and appetizers when we were asked to move to a small bar table to make way for people who were ""eating."" 2) we stopped by on a Tuesday at 5 - right when they open and when there were no other customers - and were told we couldn't sit at a table because we were ""only"" going to have drinks and appetizers. We asked them to accomodate us, but they said no. If Cuba Cuba took reservations I could understand this policy, but when it's first come, first served, this is unacceptable. Often times, drinks and appetizers cost as much as, if not more than, a meal. And at any rate, any restaurant that is willing to let customers walk out to protect their bottom line is not worth patronizing. Cons: inflexible policies, poor management more

we love it! 5/18/2006

really great suggestion by some friends. we flew into town and had dinner at cuba cuba 3 times in 2 weeks. We loved the menu and the cocktails and especially loved the staff... felt really good there i recommend to anyone passing through and to everyone living near--- a great place to eat, drink and hang out don't miss out Pros: ambiance, food, staff Cons: busy more

Good but Used to be so much better 5/5/2006

Cuba Cuba was a massive hit when it first hit the Denver scene. Their drinks were incredible, their food original, there service friendly and fun. Lately, when we have gone there we have consistently received attitude from the hostess, the drinks are no longer made from the fresh ingredients they used to be and the food is just - not what it was. I really hope they make a come back b.c. it is a great place with great owners but they seem to have lost sight of what made them so popular originally. more

such a great restaurant! 4/15/2006

A little oasis in Denver! The food, drinks and service were really fantastic, but the ambiance is what clenched the night for us: it was so relaxed while remaining sophisticated and unique. Felt like we could have been in a hacienda somewhere tropical. The mango mojitos and ceviche were really, really notable. Pros: atmosphere, food, drinks more

que rico!!!!! 12/28/2005

We just left cuba cuba and had a wonderful dinner. We came in early to enjoy a couple of mojitos (best around) and some white sangria. we were sat by the sweetest hostess who recommended some great appetizers. The service was very attentive and most of all made our party feel right at home. The owner was very helpful in talking to us about the history of the restaurant, which was very interesting to us because we are cuban as well, and helped us choose our dishes for the evening. We are always so happy to frequent this lettle gem. Thank you cuba cuba!!!! we are happy to have you in denver Pros: good parking, great service, open mondays Cons: closed on sundays, no reservations more

Cuban Cuisine at it's Best! 12/7/2005

It was like an escape from the duldrums... the food was amazing, having experienced authentic little Havana food before I was happy to find the same homemade quality and flair found in Miami. The decor was quaint and rustic just as I would have imagined it to be. The service was warm and casual, my server was happy to answer any questions I had without making me feel silly for asking. The ensalada cubana was great, as was the picadillo, but definately save room for desert because the pastelitos were to die for! My husband and I will add this to our list of favorites, we'll be back! Pros: Inexpensive, Romantic, Festive Cons: Small, No Reservations more

Absolutely wonderful 11/16/2005

I ate here with my husband and another couple. Everyone was thrilled with their food. The atmosphere is great, very cozy and romantic. Get there early as it gets very crowded and the bar area is small. It's also very reasonably priced for the quality and amount of food. I especially recommend the Vaca Frita and the chorizo, ham and manchengo cheese appetizer. I can't wait to eat here again! Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Drinks Cons: Parking more

THIS PLACE IS WONDERFUL!! 10/5/2005

I just went here for my friends birthday. What a beautiful night, it felt like we were somewhere far away. The food and drinks are wonderful! The service was ok. This place was soooo busy. People will wait to eat here as we witnessed that night.. its just a really unique place. The mojitos are the best.... Pros: food , drinks , ambiance!!! Cons: kind of slow service more

All I can say is WOW! 7/7/2005

The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the setting was outstanding, the live music was lively and fun! Definitly will be going back many many times! The Mango y Tuna was good, the Coconut Tuna is awesome (but you better like raw tuna), and you cannot go wrong with the goat cheese flan! Pros: Food, Environment, Service more

Exotic Food 6/3/2005

This is a wonderful, intimate restaurant serving delicious, exotic Cuban specialties. It is a rare gem in the collection of jeweled restaurants in the Denver area. Pros: reasonably priced, ample street parking Cons: often very crowded more

Former Resident 7/19/2004

As a former resident and frequent visitor of Denver I have to say that 'discovering' Cuba Cuba on my last visit was a very pleasant surprise. After all of the over-blown, oh-so-trendy new spots down at LoDo Cuba Cuba is a breath of fresh air. We went on a Monday night so the restaurant wasn't crowded and the service was excellent! We dined on the outside patio in the 94 degree heat bringing another 'taste' of Havana to our dining experience. The Mojitos were light and refreshing, the Mahi-Mahi tender and tasty and the banana dessert was delicious! What a lovely experience Pros: Atmosphere, reasonably priced, great service more
