Denver's love affair with Cuba Cuba looks like a keeper. However, it's more of a place to be seen than to dine on fantastic Cuban food. Last week, four of us stopped in for a visit. The overall dining experience was very good. Everyone was great...especially for a super hectic Friday night. Yet, everyone raves about their food...when you can get better authentic Cuban food at El Azteca and more consistency at Samba Room. Their Vaca Frita should have been called Vaca Seca because it was more like eating a huge hunk of Cuban deshebrada. And numerous people swoon over the Bacardi Painted Mahi...why? The boniato mash is divine, but the fish is sorely overcooked and overpriced for the portion at $18.95. If you do go, be prepared to wait. They take no reservations. We arrived at 6:45 and finally got a table at 9:00! Get there early or late...
Pros: service, boniato mash, decor
Cons: noise, appetizers, some prices
