Got there today about 11:40 or so for lunch, dining room was cold (others complained later, I just wore my coat, not a huge deal - it was 45 degrees outside) and music too loud (probably great for busy dining room, not so great with only two occupied tables in the room).\r

Service was good throughout, no problems there. I ordered the beef tenderloin as I figured that it was a sure thing at a restaurant with such rave reviews. At its price point, it should have been the Cadillac for lunch.\r

The salad came first and was fine, though unremarkable.\r

The beef came and looked ok, though I immediately guessed (correctly) that the squash/zucchini/etc. medley was overdone, which I mentioned to the waitress. The potatoes were bland, at best. On to the beef - it was ok, with intermittent, minor gristle throughout. It was _not_ a great piece of beef. There was one major piece of gristle at the end that was virtually unchewable.\r

No urge for dessert at that point and I left shortly thereafter. Not worth $14 plus beverage, tax, and tip. As a point of contrast, I came back to Austin tonight, stopped at Central Market (yes, a glorified HEB), and got a better meal (pork tenderloin w/ potatoes au gratin and steamed spinach) for less money. Was the CM meal great? No, but it was cheaper and it's an HEB. Sorry, no return business for Crumpet's.
