I bought a rabbit from there who was sick, they seem like nice people but the information they told me was wrong. rabbits under 6 month are suppose to be on an alfafa hay diet and they reassured me he was fine with just the pellets, my rabbit was malnurished and all bone. I took him to the vet 2 weeks after i got him because he lost all of the fur on his stomache and shoulder blades, He has mites and all of the other rabbits in that litter must have it as well, the veterinarian also confirmed that only alfalfa pellets are NOT okay for his diet and that baby rabbits MUST have fresh alfalfa hay. A handful everyday, or more if he'll eat it. They sell alot of rabbits because both times ive came back someone was buying one, so maybe I just came at a bad time. My friends family also purchased a sick kitten who passed after 6 months, and the vet said she has treated quite a few animals who have came from them. I do not think that i will ever purchase an animal from Critters again, I will rescue one from the animal shelter who are all up to date with shots and exams. more

We bought a large rainbow shark at the shop. When we got home, we noticed that one eye was clouded and soon after being transferred to the tank the fish was very lethargic. By morning, he was doing nothing more than floating and the other fish were nipping at him. When we called to see what to do, we were told to come in and get a store credit. We brought the fish back and since he was ""beaten up"" we were refused the credit. The fish is obviously going to die tonight, and I guess we're just out of luck. I guess we should have taken the fish back since he was so lethargic, but thought maybe once he got acclimated he just might be all right. It's not just the money that's the issue, it's selling sick fish. We just hope that the fish in our tank don't start having issues. As far as there not being dead fish in their tanks? There were plenty of them in there today. We won't be back. more

I am appalled with the reviews I have read. They are, in opinion...wrong. I have been a customer for 30+ years. I have never had a problem with them, nor did I ever see dirty cages not even a dead fish in the aquariums. If I ever had a question that I could not answer, they have answered it for me with accuracy. Today I went in there to buy fish and having major problems with the clarity of my water. I went home and did what Mike told me to do and volia! two hours later the water was crystal clear...thanks Mike! I have come to the conclusion that not all reviews are truthful and I will question every review (for other sites) and go to that place and make my own review before believing what I read. more

Critters was a good pet store many years back. Now the two men that basically run it do absolutely nothing as far as upkeep especially on the animals. The animals are kept in cramped cages and most look sick and act lethargic. Their advice on my fish tank resulted in many deaths of my fish and when I called them out on their mistakes they didn't give me credit or a refund saying I let too many fish die. All I did was tell them I was going to a different store later that day for a second opinion after being told totally different information from other people and the internet and ""boom"" no refund. Their fish died within their refund policy time but I guess they can pick and choose when and who gets one depending on their mood. I listened to the advice of the other shop and bought one product for $4.00 and the problems stopped immediately. I also went to Critters get some bulk food before for my small animals and both times it was infested with bugs. I told them this and their reply was it's hot out so it happens and it won't hurt my pets anyway. Well I wasn't feeding bad food to my pets so I left both times without purchasing. They just sell because they can and have no regard for the lives of the animals and fish they sell by staying lazy and uninformed of what is needed to care for these poor animals that end up in their possession. more

I have been going to Critter's for over 20 years and have always been helped with information about my dog, fish, reptiles, chickens, duck, and other pets that I have kept over the years. Most of witch have come from Critter's. more

I've never bothered to review anything like this before but I was so incredibly repulsed by this place that today I feel it would be wrong not to. I'm a very knowledgeable pet owner in anything from small furry critters to dogs to reptiles and I can tell you right now that every positive review this place has received came from people ignorant of what a healthy animal looks like. more

OMG this place is a nightmare! When I first walked in I was excited to see the large selection of aquarium supplies and fish and started to grab a few things for my tank. But the further I wandered through the store the worse it got. They have several birds, from doves to conure's all smooshed into tiny dirty looking wire cages. Same goes for the small animals, rabbits etc. They must have had 15 hamsters in a tiny little cage all together. My heart about stopped as I approached what looked like a wire kennel behind a closed off area in a dark little corner of the store. The had 2 little dachshund puppies in a tiny breeder cage with a wire grated floor. It was so depressing and just awful looking. I was really surprised to see they had puppies as it seems to (thankfully) be a slowly dying trend due to puppy mill awareness. They also had 2 huge alligators, about 5 feet in length in a very small little area. Why they had these giant gators is beyond me, it was something that should be in a zoo. Needless to say, I put my items back and left. There was NO way I'd ever support a store that treats their animals this way or sells puppies. It just made me sick. more

I recently moved to the neighborhood, and just noticed this shop on my way home from work today. I decided to see what dog and rodent supplies they had available - I'm always happy to support a local business rather than a petsmart or petco, and was initially pleased to find a pet store in my neighborhood. I will not be returning or making a purchase here again. The conditions that the live pets and feeders were living in were DISGUSTING, with many animals living in extremely overcrowded conditions with obvious health problems. I'm extremely disappointed in this business - I would prefer to support a smaller local business but cannot support a place like this. more

My boyfriend and I recently purchased a Pomeranian puppy from Critters. We took her to the vet 3 days after we got her and she is healthy as can be!!! The pet cages at the store were clean, and had plenty of food and water. With our purchase they also gave us a few things to get us started!!!! We will definitely be using critters in our future pet purchases!!! Pros: healthy puppy! more

Poorly maintained 8/27/2009

The kitten I bought was full of fleas. There were many other cats in with her that will also have fleas. The kitten saw their ""vet"" that day for shots, why wasn't the animal treated or the problem delt with instead of selling them with fleas. Cons: animals not well cared for more
