Decided to try it although some reviews here were mixed. The place is VERY retro, tile floors, juke box playing Mob Hits (Sinatra, Como, etc), and modestly decorated. Wooden tab...

My family has been going to Crescent City Steakhouse for years. Although my wife and I hadn't been in a couple of years, we recently had the pleasure of dinning there last weekend. The food is as fantastic as it ever was. Reading these other reviews makes my mouth water. Crescent City is THE place for steaks in New Orleans. Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Good ambiance more

Terrible service 12/18/2003

Steak was OK, potato was great. Service was terrible. Was there on a Saturday afternoon with a date. Only 2 other couples in the place, but service was exceptionally inattentive and slow. Heck, had to wait nearly 45 minutes to get the check! And the interior reminded me of a public restroom. I don't understand why the natives like the place. Pros: Food good. Not great. Cons: Terrible service., Place looks like dump more

My Favorite New Orleans Steakhouse 9/24/2003

Just reading about the Crescent City Steakhouse makes me hungry to go there. This is the quintessential old fashioned unpretentios real deal steakhouse in New Orleans; and I've lived here all my life. The service is no frills but friendly . The finest steaks in town, bar none. Some of the sides could use a little polish in terms of fresh vs. frozen, but that's no major gripe. Great potatoes in all styles, the juiciest most full flavored meats anywhere and the original sizzled in butter presentation ripped off by Ruth's Chris down the street...which is damned near twice the price and half the quality. When you walk in you know that you are in a local New Orleans "joint" which beats all! Real food for real people. It's where musicians, writers, policemen, families, dates and all feel welcomed. And the booths are a neat thing, too. Pros: Best steaks, period!, Authentic atmoshpere, You keep going back! Cons: Veggies can be subpar more

First time tradition 7/25/2003

This restaurant should be a part of your lives. This a the place where children can act like grown-ups, and where grown-ups can enjoy their maturity. It has romance, and atmosphere, and history. Even if it is your first time, it feels like tradition. Pros: Amazing food, cozy spots, perfect service more

Try the Onion Rings First! 5/3/2003

The steak was excellent, and that was to be expected, but the onion rings were superb. Good salad dressing, although the salad itself was nothing too exceptional. It is worth the trip. Pros: Quality, Service Cons: Low in Ambiance more
