There's a lot I like about Crema. The sweet potato sandwich is always a good choice. I love a lot of their baked goods, but I've had a few recently that were disappointing. Their cookies are great: choc chip, oatmeal, ginger-all good. The maple walnut bar, carrot cake and banana date bread-also great. However, NOT a fan of their cupcakes. Had the salted caramel chocolate one recently, cake was dry, frosting was way too heavy and thick. Also had a macaron, they've gotten on the bandwagon with the trendy treat of the moment. They need to work on it though. Macarons aren't supposed to be very tall, and this one completely shattered when I bit into it. Today I tried the flourless mudslide cookie. With a name like that, I was expecting a dense, chocolatey, fudgy morsel of richness. Chocolate meringue cookie would have been a far more accurate name. It wasn't bad, it just was not at all rich or chocolatey, so disappointing because of what I was expecting.
In terms of the space, it's fabulously decorated, almost always packed so you have to watch patrons like a hawk and pounce when you see a table free up.
I get a weird vibe from the staff. They always seem very unhappy and not friendly. I don't know if I've ever seen one of them smile.
Aside from this, nice place to have lunch if you can find a seat and nice place to grab a snack.
