Editorial review from Citysearch 10/20/2013

I spent hundreds of dollars on trees at this place during the Summer. Recently I went there to ask about the warranty because one tree died. At the time I purchased the trees I was told ""they come with 1-year warrany""..nothing else. After one tree died and I went back to the store I was referred to the receipt for a key phrase ""One year warranty on Countryside Nursery installed trees."" If they had only mentioned this when I paid for the trees. But I guess I should have read the fine print.\r \r Since I never received the tree care instructions I was supposed to get via email, I asked for store credit. (I planted and took care of the tree using the info I quickly got when I asked about it to the person who delivered the trees). So I went back to Countryside Nursery on 10/12/13, I was told to wait for a manager...so I waited for a while. Finally I talked to ""manager"" Juanita Olazaran who promised to check their records to confirm that Countryside Nursery forgot to send me the instructions on how to care for the trees. This ""manager"" said she'd call me on Monday 10/14/13 with a resolution. I DID NOT not get a call from her or anybody from that nursery on Monday 10/14/13 as promised. I emailed her on Tuesday 10/15/13..no response. I called Countryside Nursery Wednesday 16th, Thursday 17th and Friday October 18th and either no one answered the phone and left a message, or after being asked for my name was told manager Juanita Olazaran was not available. One would think a ""manager"" would know basic customer service . Bottom line, it was not a pleasant experience dealing with Countryside Nursery. I have my phone records, copy of the email I sent to Countryside Nursery and the purchase receipts to prove my review. As someone else mentioned on another review, Countryside does not live up to their promises in the warranty category. more

BE VERY-VERY-VERY CAREFUL; they do not live up to their promises in the 'Guarantee' catagory. We spend a large sum of $$ with them buying large fruit-nut trees with our 'new' home in Elgin... PLUS paying them for delivery ... AND planting in ground; we are senior citizens. The 'guarantee' quoted was that if 'anything' did not live for one year, they would replace it ... plant for plant ... at no cost.\r Well, planted in the fall and it thrived A-ok . Then, in the spring, with EVERYTHING else being green and thriving, one tree ... at something like $800.00 or so ... was not budding out; with limbs being dry and brittle and easily broken off. Called them and requested help. Advised to ""Wait for a few more weeks."" We waited...called again ... and Doyle, clerk that we had been dealing with, said he'd stop by one day to view. He did so ... and immediately claimed that it was too early .... even thugh EVERYTHING around us, trees, bushes, weeds, etc, eetc. was budding and growing... including slow budding flower buds. So, again, we waited. After about 3 more weeks, decided to visit and talk to manager...for get her name. Met with her ... and excuse was that they did not have a matching tree for us... did not know when they would ... and did not want to replace with anything else we might find acceptable. BUT... she, or Doyle, woiuld stay in touch, and call us when they had a replacement ... with Doyle's (again) CONFIRMATION.\r It is now over 1year and plus months.... and not a single contact or whatever. In other words, they are nothing but baffoons when it comes to customer service.... from manager down to clerk/yard staff.\r \r bottom line............. DO NOT USE THEM....IF YOU WANT TO HAVE SATISFACTION. Their word and promise and guarantee ain't worth the paper it is written on!!!!!!!! Nor their service!!!!!!!! more

Highly recommend-is my favorite nursery 11/26/2008

Where do I begin about this jewel? Maybe a little about me--an organic Austinite that loves The Natural Gardener and have been digging in the dirt for 20 years. I live in NW Austin (Avery Ranch) and stumbled upon this place last year and have been there over a dozen times. It is amazing, and I am not exaggerating. They have the most hard to get plant material I have ever encountered. Love it. It's hard to spot, so drive slow down Pond Sprs. Opposite side of road as Red Barn, near Anderson Mill. Pros: Native plants, organic products, price Cons: hard to spot-drive slow on Pond Springs more

Great Experience, from start to finish. 11/19/2008

I had only bought plants at Home Depot before, but my wife and I wanted to get better quality now that we've bought our first house. I had visited tons of places, and we were on our way to Red Barn when we saw this place. Not easy to spot, but it was great when we went in. Super healthy trees, not much money, inexpensive installation. The most impressive thing was the staff -they knew what they were talking about, and were very attentive. I was surprised that the staff were patient with us -I never felt like they were frustrated when we wanted to see another tree pulled out into the open. We bought two beautiful trees, and felt that we had found out go-to nursery.\r I wanted to wait on a review, though, until after they installed the trees. I was pleasantly surprised by this also. I half expected to have a non-english speaker come and dig a hole, plop down the tree and leave. What came were two guys, one spent ten minutes making sure that we planned a good distance from the house foundation, telling us care instructions and answering our questions. They did a great job planting and then spent more time watering the trees and giving watering tips.\r \r Anyways, it was a great experience from start to finish. They don't have as much selection as Red Barn down the road, but less money (especially for the quality), and I think better service. more

Best native plant selectio; Best nursery in north Austin; Highly recommended 10/7/2007

CountrySide is one of the BEST nurseries inAustin. It has a very friendly feel to its large assorttment of native plants, trees, perennials, grasses and shrubs. It has one of the biggest assortments of native plants I have seen. The prices are very reasonable and the staff are very helpful. I fabor this nursery over others in the area. Much better than Red Barn down the street. Highly recommended for the serious native plant gardener or any serious gardener. Pros: great selection of plants; large nursery Cons: far north Austin more
