Would not recommend ... took my jeep to be repaired there I told the guy at the desk I had the same problem about 2 years ago and the guy that use to work there fixed it. It was a common problem with the 2004 Jeep cherokee. I even told him where to look. I sat there 3 hours and he came out and told me they weren't sure what the problem was but this one part on the door didn't work and they ordered another one $664.00 for repair and he said my truck was complicated he hopes that's the problem. I said no I can't afford that just put the truck back together and I will wait. I went home got on youtube and and search the problem ... sure enough people with that 2004 cherokee had the same problem. I know nothing about cars and I was nervous but I did what the guy on youtube said ... I went out and pull the boot back on the side on the door to check the wires and sure enough there were two unattached wires. That's all that guy at Cottman could have done. The only reason I went on youtube because I was desperate and Knew there was no was I could afford to fix my car so I was searching for help. The only from Cottman sent me a email saying they are registered with the BBB and they tested that part and it came up bad and most likely won't work for long. Well it's working find right now and my windows are working, lights are working too. You may be registered with the BBB but that doesn't mean you are without fault. People trust your experience, I brought my truck there before and was satisfied when you had other people working for you ... you may want to check your staff. What if I had to give up my mortgage to fix my car and paid $664.00 and that wasn't even the problem. Even if the part will go bad in the future, be honest and say we can fix this now but you will need to replace it in the future. It is working now. more

This place is a big time ripoff. Initially Manager at this place told me that Clutch and Cylinders (slave and master) need to be replaced. I allready had new clutch and i ordered new cylinders online since no shop in the area had it in stock. \r \r Later when I had parts he told me he allready changed the cylinders and i can pick up the car. When i went to get the care he charged me 800. He put 170 for parts and 621.50 on labor and 8.50 on taxes. \r \r I requested him to mention the cylinders he had changed he denied to mention it on the receipt. He said he would provide 90 day warranty on hydraulics but will not mention about cylinders he replaced in the receipt. I am sure he did not replace cylinders.\r \r He was also fighting with one customer on phone while i was there. more

Wonderful Customer Service. I just wanted to thank Robert and the wonderful staff over at Mr. Transmission. I dropped my car off last week for a rebuilt transmission, my ride did not show up. I started panicking because my daughter would be dropped off from school with nobody home. Richard the manager went upstairs to speak with Robert the owner, 5 minutes later robert offered to drive me home. My car was fixed in less than two days and is running great!!!! Thank you more

VERY knowledgeable and professional staff. Don, the general manager, really knows his stuff. They were able to re-build my transmission in less than a week and were more than happy to take me back in to the garage to show me what failed. I highly recommend this shop. more

I took my car to Cottman for a transmission re-build and was incredibly pleased with the service. They were upfront about the repair and, as a woman, I felt extremely comfortable. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone with a transmission problem. more

Worst Manager Ever 8/22/2011

I used to know the guys that worked at the Cottsman shop which is now Mr. Transmission, so I went there asking one of the employees for Manny at about 11:00 am this morning. He said that there was nobody there by that name. Then, A man came out of the office yelling at me not to stop his guy from working, he said that I should get into the office and talk to him instead, which I did. He continued yelling and looking at me in a very unfriendly way, without answering my simple question. He quickly said that he didn?t want me there and to go away, shaking his hand as if he was scaring a dog away. This man was acting erratically crazy so I told him that I didn?t like his attitude and that he would not get any clients with that kind of behavior. Customers beware of this madman and stay away from that place. more

dont be fooled by nationally recognized name 1/26/2011

Cottman transmission Holland rd virginia beach is the worst transmission shop . Took my car back just 8 months after initial repair and they did not honor the 1 year warranty. Had my car for 8 days and the Manager Manny called me up and told me the warranty was void because they found about a gallon of water in my transmission.Thats the same thing they told me 8 months ago before i paid them paid over $2000.00 to resolve water problem and repair transmission. I talked to Frank the shop owner and he said that they couldn't do anything about it since they can't find the source of the water( for the second time). They took the money knowing that if the problem came back they wouldn't have to honor the warranty because of the water.. Now i have to take my car somewhere else and pay a ridiculous amount of money so they do the job the right way because this shop didn't, which is what i should have done from the beginning. I finally got a hold of someone from the corporate offices named Carroll who initially told me that the shop would do what they could at a price consideration, but she later told me they can't do anything now. I will be taking this to court. Don't be fooled by the Nationally recognized name above the door....Beware...... more

Unproffesional. No pride in workmanship. 1/18/2011

The only reason I am giving Cottman Transmissions any stars in the ratings is because this site says I have to give them something. My warranty company told me to take it to cottman transmission to get a bearing in my 5 speed fixed. I left my car there for 8 days. 5 miles down the road after I picked it up, I lost 5th gear and reverse. Took it back to Cottmans and they told me for $700 they could fix it. I then took it to Napa Automotive in Moyock. They showed me where the freshly rebuilt transmission was leaking as well as the busted shift linkage. The heat shield had also not been properly installed. The mechanic explained to me how the linkage was broken either during removal of the transmission or reinstallation. Not sure how a transmission overhaul facility could let a leaking transmission go out the door, just as I am not sure how exactly they broke my transmission shift cables. I do know that the car worked great before they worked on it and now it doesnt go forward or backwards. I will never take another one of my vehicles to this shop, and Id advise anyone that asks me about them to stay away and find a more reputable place to get their car fixed. more

auto repair 11/26/2009

I had my truck towed to cottman on e.va.beach blvd.I had the engine replaced there and it took them 2 and half weeks to do it.I would not recommend this company to anyone for auto repair.my truck was done and drove it home and it would not start back up/they told me to jump start the truck and nothing and they are trying to charge me again for there mistakes. so i seek an attorney and let them handle this issue.. Pros: not Cons: their work more
