BEWARE!!!! I wish i could give this service center a negative. Do NOT go here unless you like bending over so they can screw you with high prices and horrible service. This was the worst experience i have ever had at an auto care center. The employees were lazy and not doing their job. The owner offered a discount from his online website and then went back on his offer. He gave me a low cap of $2000 for a transmission repair and then skyrocketed the price. Very sloppy work was done. They had illegal immigrants working there when we could have American's working. Will be letting the BBB about this business so they can shut them down. more

An absolute horrible experience. I took my car in to get some idea of what I might be paying on my transmission, and he said he had no way of knowing until I paid the $300 to look into the transmission. After I came back, they gave me a quote of $3000, so I told them that I'd rather go look for a cheaper quote. At which point he informed me that the transmission was taken apart and the only way to get my car back was to get the transmission rebuilt there! I was incredibly upset with this tactic, but I went ahead and let them work on it because I had no other choice besides leave without a transmission in my car. Once I got my car back, the car had a wiring issue that drained the battery! I took it back and they said that it wasn't their fault even though the car had no problem with the wiring before. They told me I needed to pay 3 hours worth of labor from them just to figure out if the problem was indeed their fault! I couldn't believe it! So I took my car to another mechanic and I'll more

I appreciate the way they worked with me! Major problems with the transmission in my 2002 Lincoln LS. I knew it needed a lot of work but I could not pay it off immediately. The did not treat me poorly because of this. In fact, they understood the difficulty of a fixed income. I appreciate the quality work done and the respect shown! more

Cottman's in Garner saved my hundreds of dollars by doing some research into the repair and computer update history of my Volvo before they did anything. What I thought was going to be an expensive transmission repair turned out to be a very small repair and an computer update by my Volvo dealership. I thought I was having a serious transmission problem. Cottman's checked with Volvo to see whether my computer had been updated by them recently. When they found out it hadn't, that had me go to Volvo first. The update and a minor repair cured my problems. They are my heros! Great customer service. Brought my car in with leak. I was told what the problem was, exactly what they were going to do to fix it and the cost. I was very happy with what was done and with how quickly it was completed. more

This Center was paid $2300 to rebuild and install a transmission for a high mileage Toyota, as this had been a wonderful car. The transmission "roared" and was brought back after only one mile. Cottman claimed that it was not the transmission that was causing this new sound. Another place checked it and said it was. Cottman took it back, and somehow totaled the car (probably fell off the tow truck that came to get it.) Cottman tried to keep the $2300 for a defective transmission that never worked. Something was covered up here. Finally refunded the money after it was obvious we were not leaving without it, and telling customers there what was going on. As if that was not enough, the wheel on my daughter's car was worked on by these folks during the same time period, and and that wheel started shaking badly on I 40, and if she had not slowed down and returned the car this could have been a disaster. Now having had to have both of my vehicles' transmissions rebuilt, I realize what a great resource the guys at Cottman are. Not only were they very upfront and honest about what was going on with my vehicle(s), they have very competitive pricing and a bulletproof warranty on their work. I've had a number of my vehicles serviced there and some have been older vehicles with close to 100K miles. They never tried to sell me a transmission because they said they were fine, even though some shops would try due to the mileage.\r I found the owner and the key mechanics there very helpful and would recommend them highly.\r I've referred other folks there and they did well also. more

Had our Caravan repaired at Cottman in Garner due to good word of mouth comments. Very good service and thankful to have gone out of our way to find them. Told by another shop it was an internal transmission problem, they found an electronic problem that saved $hundreds. more

Went in because my car's torque converter is not locking up. Brought in first thing in AM, didn't get a call till 5:30 pm. Never took the car on the road. All they did was plug in the diagnostic tool, saw no codes for the tranny, and assumed I didn't know what I was talking about. more

Having transmission problems is bad enough. I heard from a friend that Cottman Transmission Services was a reputable dealer. I beg to differ. Took my car in for transmission repair. Was givn quote and told it would be ready in 4 hours. When I got there, they had JUST started on my car. I was later told it would be $150 more than first thought. I came back at closing and it was NOT yet ready. Had to keep the rental. Told would be ready by 10 AM the next morning. I got there at 10:10 - finally at 2:15 I was presented with a bill. There was no compassion shown on the part of the staff and the checkout tookk 25 minutes to settle. DO NOT RECOMMEND more

My grandfather was here visiting and his transmission went. The name Cottman was a name he recognized so he went there. They gave him the run around and his transmission barely made it back to NY before it broke again. I would not send my worst neighbor there! more
