rotten tomatoes 9/11/2016

you don't even get what you pay for! they were the only place i could find roma tomatoes sold by the bushel.i looked through a few bushels that i wouldn't even consider then found one that seemed decent. the top layer appeared good.more than 3/4 were rotted & ended up in the garbage. i should have read reviews before i went there. more

Corrados's Clifton NJ 5/1/2012

Unlike some other reviewers, I find Corrados to have some of the best quality and price in the North Jersey area. Sure if you get there end of the day, things are picked over, but if you go in the morning, great choice of quality fruits and veggies. Deli counter has large variety of cheeses and olives, also well priced and great quality. 4 1/2 stars more

Bad and Worse 3/23/2010

The good: you can find things there that you can't find in most other places or in any one place. The bad: Their heritage is selling semi-rotten produce, which they can buy in large quantities very cheap. Just the other day, I bought some plum tomatoes, and had to throw them out after two days. Why? Because they keep old produce that's nearly-rotten (and belongs in the garbage) on 'artificial life support' (refrigeration) until its put on display. And because the produce is already on the verge of going bad, it often does after only a few hours at room temperature. They refrigerate tomatoes until they're put on display. Of course, any respectable greengrocer knows that you're not supposed to refrigerate tomatoes. They don't bother washing greens before putting them on display. Sometimes you'll find greens like lettuce that are loaded with dirt and sand, in some cases, worms were crawling out of lettuce heads. I found human hairs baked into the crust of a ready-to-cook pizza which they prepare on premisis, and reported it to the local heath inspector. I've bought cookies and hard rolls from their bakery that turned out to be stale enough to break a window with them. They sell focaccia that is made and baked in Italy, shipped here frozen, and re-heated when sold. But, they tell customers that it's fresh baked daily on the premises, which is a lie. Their employees are extremely rude and disrespectful to customers. I've had several encounters with a number of them, where their behavior went way beyond what one might characterize as just bad manners. One of them, an Arabic fellow by the name of "Tony" made terroristic threats without provocation. Employees seem to be obsessed with catching a thief or shoplifter, a customer sampling the grapes, or doing anything else they think might get them a pat on the head and maybe a raise from their bosses. more

Take a cooler 9/21/2006

Ditto to all of the above. Don't forget to put a LARGE cooler in your trunk, so you can safely transport all your goodies home. A great day trip. JoAnn Easton, PA more

Corrado's Family Affair 6/4/2006

Corrado's is a very large market that I shop at whenever I'm anywhere near Clifton, NJ (exit 153 Garden State Parkway). It has a huge selection of produce, seafoods, meats, bakery, deli, liquor store and ethnic foods. You can find any ethnic food specialty item here. The store is family owned and run and you can usually find one of the Corrado's there answering questions or filling customer requests. The staff is helpful and the store is well stocked and maintained. One of the best reasons I like to shop here is to see what people are buying. You can always find an answer to the question "how do I prepare this" or "what's that" and how to cook it from the customers. People don't mind sharing information in the aisles here. I also like to share recipes or cooking tips and this is a good place to do that. There are plenty of prepared items here to take home--heat and eat entrees and these seem to be quite popular based upon what I see in folks baskets. This is the place I buy 5 lb bags of pistachio nuts which are a favorite in my household. While Corrado's can get very busy (especially during holidays) and can get crowded, there are numerous checkouts and there is on site free parking. more

BETTER SELECTION 4/12/2006

This grocery store has a better selection and a better quality of food products. The cheese department alone tops any other. The fruits and vegetabels are always fresh. We make a special trip just to get some ricotta salata and their cured italian olives. Their blue cheese and fresh mozzarella is great also. You will not be disappointed. more
