Has gone down hill since the last time we ate here. 1/4/2009

I have eaten here in the past for dinner which was perfectly acceptable. We (2 adults, 2 kids) tried breakfast today and I left knowing that I would most likely never come back. The restaurant was busy on Sunday for lunch and after having been in business for several years I would expect that they would be better prepared for a busy Sunday. After a short wait we were seated to our table. The first strike for me was that their famous biscuits in gravy are not available after 11:00 a.m. even though breakfast is advertised as being served all day. We placed our order after a few minutes. Over 40 minutes later we finally received our order. My order was half incorrect, one my son's order was half complete, and all of the food was between lukewarm to cool. After some reminders to the waitress she finally completed my son's order. Receiving the food almost cold and after taking such a long time is unacceptable to me as there are other restaurants for me to go to that perform better. Pros: Nicely decorated for a cafe, good atmosphere. Cons: Untrained wait staff, kitchen unable to handle busy hours efficiently. more

Terrible Breakfast 10/10/2008

Grits - Salty and running away from the bowl Eggs WERE NOT FRESH Bacon had been sitting in a grease vat Smoking is allowed right in FRONT OF THE KITCHEN. SMOKING Bad for food. Pancakes were not cooked Biscuit tasted like s!@# Way out of the KC, MO Center City Bad bad bad S DON'T waste your time. Tough steaks for breakfast 11/25/2006

My family stopped in for a good breakfast and did not get it. We enjoy steak & eggs for breakfast ocasionally. The steak was tough and and very small for the price, eggs were so-so. Nothing as special as we were lead to believe; along with small portions We left hungry and disappointed. Coffee was good. Pros: Pleanty of parking Cons: Tough food; small portions for the price. more

Excellent place to eat, had to get through some traffic on the road going to it but it is weel worth the trouble. The tenderloin was awesome. more

Homemade Chicken & Noodles?? Homemade Tenderloin Sandwiches, biscuits & gravy?? Homemade Dinner Rolls and Desserts?? These are just a few of the wonderful things the Corner Cafe offers. Their salads are one of my favorite things. Always cold, fresh & crispy! Alot of people have written about slow service, and long waits. Are we eating at the same place? We've never had a long wait or poor service. Always prompt & friendly! But then, we use our timing skills and hit the restaurant just before or after PEAK busy times..Timing people, timing.... Dobn't forget their new location in Liberty, MO. Pros: Excellent Food! more

Great place 5/23/2004

I've eaten at the corner since they first opened the old place. It is still my favorite place in KC area. We have lmany people lfrom our Church in St. Joe driving down there for breakfast on a regular basis. Whenever we head south, we always drive thru Riverside for a meal before continuing out trip. OK so you might wait a bit, I've never waited over 30 minutes so planning is a good thing to do. The food is great. Excellent service. you really need to be a bit on the hungry side. It's a super family gathering place. Do you like Biscuits and Gravy..I say no more as words can't describe the Large. Medium will be fine from now on. This place is amazing. Their fresh rolls for breakfast, lunch, or dinner are well worth the trip all on it's own. It's a cozy place that all can enjoy! more

Great Value 9/26/2003

You get a lot of great food for a low price. My husband and I can have dinner for less than $20 and still both bring home leftovers. The rolls that come with dinner are made fresh and are great. My husband always ask for extras. If you love grandma's home cooking then this is a close second. Pros: Fast seating, Plenty of parking, Big portions more

I have been going to the corner cafe for many years. In fact, when it was a converted gas station. The pork tenderloin is so big it covers the entire plate. The bisquits and gravy are a risk I'm always willing to take... despite my doctors orders. In fact, when we have family staying over we have a tradition of ordering out the bisquits and gravy for breakfast grand style at home. more

clean and quick seating 12/31/2002

We were seated quickly, took awhile for the waitress, but coffee and juice was quick, they kept the coffee cup full. I am used to more hashbrowns (they could of been cooked alittle longer). With the amount of customers in and out, I could see how the hashbrown turnover could be a problem. The coffee was very good, just right, not too strong or weak, had a good taste and hot. I can only compare the food to a place in Grinnell, Ia (West Side Diner) price and qty. Pros: coffee, buscuits, parking Cons: hashbrowns more

Good Family Cooking 12/13/2002

If you're looking for good food at a reasonable price, I would highly recommend this establishment. The waitersses are friendly, the food is always good, and the menu is very diverse for the picky eater. Be prepared to wait for a little while if you walk-in. Just have a hot cinamon roll while you wait. You'll forget about the time you're waiting. Pros: good portions, family style, quality Cons: crowded, busy more

Riverside area 11/24/2002

After reading the different reviews, I am wondering if we are all talking about the same place. I think this review is for the Riverside Corner cafe. The food is always excellent and LARGE portions! Yes you may have to wait to be seated and some of the servers are a little slow but they have came along way baby! Check out the counter in the back, you can get seated there qucker. They use to be alot smaller but have grown and are still growing. They have just added more seating. Good food is worth the wait. Mom doesn't cook a meal in 5 minutes why should they??? Pros: priced right, antiques, adding more seats Cons: some waiting more

I USUALLY SIT AT THE COUNTER IN THE BACK WHERE THE ACTION IS. I LISTEN TO THE SERVERS/WAITRESS'S AND COOKS KIBITZ, WHAT A GAS!! CUSTOMERS ARE FRIENDLY, TOO, IF YOU CARE TO BE. THE RESTAURANT IS GOOD HOME COOKING,FAST, CLEAN, AND WELL WORTH THE PRICE. I HAVE NEVER FINISHED A COMPLETE MEAL THERE AND IT'S ALWAYS HOT AND TASTY.
