Editorial review from Citysearch 5/28/2013

We hired Cornell’s Quality Construction to remodel our 20 year old kitchen based on the glowing recommendation of a friend. We were not disappointed! Cornell had some great ideas regarding the layout of our kitchen which resulted in more counter space and room for a larger oven. He is an excellent listener and communicator. Cornell was always available to answer my calls or would call me right back. He kept me aware of any work schedule changes instead of leaving me hanging like other contractors we have worked with. \r Cornell’s crew is highly skilled – they did a beautiful job! Not only that, they were polite, professional and respectful of our home. They show up in the morning and work long days, 6 days a week so that projects are finished quickly. We LOVE our new kitchen, and will definitely have CQC back for future remodels! more

Excellent work 3/22/2012

Cornell did excellent work. We needed to remodel our bathroom to make it wheelchair accessible, this involved raising the sink and replacing the tub with a walk-in shower. He finished the job on time, on budget, and everyone was extremely professional. When we were getting estimates, one bidder said ""It'll cost $25,000. There's no money in bathrooms. I can only get one guy in there at a time."" Another bidder refused to give me a non-binding estimate because, ""I don't know what's under that floor."" i.e., would he have to replace the supports under the wood floor or replace just the wood. Cornell quoted us a price of $18k and brought the completed job in for that amount with no last-minute cost over-runs. He also had two guys working in the bathroom; they cut the tile on the premises, raised the sink counter, replaced the toilet, and sealed the room with vis-screen at the end of each workday. He kept us up to date on the various stages and what they involved as the job progressed. We've had no problem & would not hesitate to use him again. more

Great Company 12/18/2011

Cornell’s Quality did a masterful job in remodeling and modernizing my home. The planning, design, execution, quality, attention to detail and responsiveness to my questions and needs were all remarkable. They literally transformed my home and completed the work on time and within budget. The C.Q.C.inc people were the most reliable and professional group i have ever dealt with. I recommend them highly based upon my experience. more

So Glad We Chose Cornell's!! 11/29/2011

Even after a year we are delighted with Cornell's Bathroom Remodel in our home!!\r We had several contractors bid on the complete renovation of our main Bathroom and Cornell's Quality Construction won out for a couple of major reasons. We are so glad we chose them to do the work!\r \r 1. Cornell had excellent suggestions to streamline the room and give it a bigger look without complicating the job. He's a great listener and makes the vision happen. ""No Problem"" is something we heard a lot throughout the remodel!\r \r 2. We had confidence that the timeline and the estimate were reasonable. Cornell's numbers made sense and there was good professional experience fielding the work. Maybe this part goes without saying, but the billing was smooth and the pricing completely fair. We still had the ""so glad we got a new bathroom"" feeling even after it was all paid up.\r \r 3. Cornell's is local for us. They could tell us where to find samples and even bring us the ones we needed. \r \r We are giving them 5 stars because they earned it! Cornell's construction crew is reliable, professional and they CLEAN UP after themselves! \r more

Couldn't Have Asked For A Better Kitchen Remodel! 6/6/2011

Although we interviewed several contractors, Cornell won our trust and confidence not only through the strength of his professional knowledge and experience, but particularly by listening to us with a ""can-do"" attitude, respecting our desire to implement ""universal design"" concepts that will allow us to age in our own home, and advising us regarding all the hidden needs we would never have anticipated in the remodel of the 34-plus year old kitchen in our 1928 Maple Leaf home. His team of experienced craftsmen always showed up when expected, demonstrated a tremendous work ethic on the job, and were uniformly polite and a pleasure to have in our house. I would use CQC again for future projects and have already recommended him to a close friend as a candidate to do his bathroom remodel. more

Great Company! 3/9/2011

I thoroughly recommend Cornell Quality Construction! They remodeled our bathroom down to the studs, subfloor and plumbing. The finished product is beautiful. The process was painless. They used a drop cloth everyday from the front door to the bathroom. They came everyday and were polite and efficient. The only snag was the tile we chose which was out of stock. If it was available they would have been done in 2-2-1/2 weeks! Cornell picked out alot of the fixtures and he did a great job! We love the style! If you want to have somebody to take care of all of the details, Cornell is your man! Anything we asked had the response ""Sure, we can do that!"".\r Anytime I praised the work that was being done Cornell would respond with ""Of course! That's the way we do it"". He expects his staff to do great work and they do. We had a great experience with them and the cost was right on with the estimate with the exception of the superior tile we chose and some unforseen plumbing. The rates were fair and the work was excellent. more

Trusted Contractor 1/27/2011

I can't imagine having a better contractor to work with. We've used CQC on a number of projects over a ten year time period. Cornell and his crew are skilled, creative, and fast. They have always gone out of their way to make sure that we are satisfied.\r \r M. Sawyer, Bellevue more

Great Kitchen 1/12/2011

I had CQC work on my old kitchen in 2005. I was acting as my own general contractor so I had a number of contractors in there on a pretty tight time line. Cornell's crew was able to get in and out promptly when installing new counters and backsplashes. Due to my own poor planning there were some hiccups that could have caused delays, I let Cornell know what was going on immediately. Cornell provided me a fair change order price for the extra work, and his crews took care of the sheetrock addons very quickly and professionally. The job was great! In 2009 when my microwave conked out I had to replace it. The slab backspash needed to be removed and replaced, once again Cornell was who I called, his foreman was out to remove, cut and replace the backsplash with ease. When my parents were recently thinking about new counters, I referred them to Cornell and they also had him do their work. more

We are thrilled with our C.Q.C inc remodeling 1/10/2011

Thank you for the wonderful job CQC did on our remodel. It was quite extensive, involving almost every room in the house, including new trim, paint throughout, doors, fireplaces, cabinets, flooring, carpet, stonework, etc.! We gave you very little time to do it, and you met your schedule commitments, which is unusual in your industry. I am sorry it took several of your team's weekends, but it was worth it.\r The work was very well done, particularly the cabinetry, painting, and finish work. The entire team was a pleasure to be around. I would Highly recommend you to anyone looking for a remodel and/or stone work. I know we asked for some challenges, like an entire solid slab for the island and building the extensive entertainment/fireplace unit. The CQC team rose to each challenge masterfully. Overall, we were very pleased. more

Superb Work Across the Board 1/7/2011

This is my second time in 2-3 years I have used Cornell's Construction. That just about tells the whole story. Why did I ask for their services a second time? Because the first time was of such superb workmanship and performance on the job that it never occurred to me to look for another company. Whatever the task, Cornell and his crew just do it right, from the toughest challenges to the last detail of their craftswmanship and design recommendations. And their prices are just fine too. I live in one of those old houses in Madison Park. Anyone wishing more information can just call me (206-777-5670) or, better, come to my house and see for yourself. more

Spotty in expertise 6/11/2010

We used CQC and had to have much of what they installed redone by another contractor. There may be an A-team at the company, but I definitely got the C-team. I wish we had fired CQC earlier in the process. There were several red flags I chose to ignore: they weren't able to match a can light in our ceiling and installed a new one that was shallower, so the bulb is not recessed. They didn't know if the duct from the bathroom fan needed to be insulated in the attic space - I had to research it and tell them what to do. They left garbage lying around in my attic after they were done and I had to ask them to return to get out the old duct and tape scraps. The woodcutting on the wainscoting, where the pipe comes out of the wall, is ragged and looks like low-end work. They should have recommended a fitting to cover the gaping hole; it's unsightly. The finish carpenter seemed capable, but even still the moulding doesn't meet up at the corners. Also, they could give me no guidance on how to assemble the moulding. (BMC Millwork gave me useful advice for free.) Finally, I doubt they use a licensed plumber. I caught 2 leaks in the 5 bathroom sinks they installed. The plumber returned and fixed the problems. The 3rd leak occurred 1 week after the job was ""finished,"" while we were on vacation. The result was flooding of our downstairs bathroom and crawl space. I think the plumber didn't tighten the part adequately. He also installed it with an awkward twist - something I questioned before and he dismissed as not a problem. The result was $10,000 of damage and we had to move out of our house for a week. CQC denied responsibility, blaming the leak on a flexible braided hose. My insurance company sent the part to a 3rd party engineering company who could find nothing wrong with the part. Pros: Return phone calls, billing statement easy to understand Cons: Unprofessional workmanship, messy more

If You Like Adventure 5/19/2010

CQC can handle most of the basics but very poor on details and listening to the customer. We completed a complete house remodel and learned that we had to consistently monitor their work to ensure that it was done according to the construction documents. For most of their crews English is a second language and this make following construction plans even more difficult. More than a year later we are still finding items that were either done poorly or not done per plan. While they do have a few skilled craftspersons, it seems like we got their ""C"" team for our project. For our tile work we got their ""D"" team which was likely through their sister company Tile and Marble Quality Services.\r Hire them if you like adventure and unneeded stress. \r Cons: No listening to customer more
