Editorial review from Citysearch 3/4/2013

Considering the comments from folks of color concerning the Coraopolis Police Dept, Former Police Chief Howard White would be turning over in his grave.\r I grew up in this town and loved it back in the 60's late 70's.\r Chief would walk down the street and greet most folks by name back then. Good man. Now reaching retirement age and am considering heading back. Attended McKinley and Central Elementary schools before they were demolished to make way for the new school where the old high school football field was located. If I recall correctly Police Department was located across the street from Eddie's Lunch more

Review of Coraopolis Police 8/29/2010

My wife and I recently moved to Coraopolis and have discovered a nice quite town. Tonight I went for a walk and to take pictures of the area. (Which is something I love to do.) About a half hour into my walk a police car pulled up next to me on the street and the officer asked me what I was taking pictures of. I showed him my camera, which had pictures of houses and flowers, etc. - Apparently the children that live next door thought I was taking pictures of them and told their parents ""that some strange man was out taking pictures in the neighborhood."" The office and I had a good laugh and recommend that I be a little more careful, this is a small town and everyone knows your business. - I can't speak to the other review, I am white and have not had that experience. What I have discovered about this town is that if you are new or an ""outsider"" people are aware that you are around, and they are very careful and protective of their families, for good reason, how many guys do you know that walk around taking pictures in your town. - learned my lesson. more

Avoid at all costs 9/9/2008

If you are a black man do not drive through this town. They are infamous for DWB (driving while black). They will pull you over detain you for 2 hours if they feel like it while they think or create a reason for pulling you over. My husband was recently pulled over and after an hour of being detained they said his sticker was on the wrong spot on the license plate (it was on there for 10 months without anyone saying anything about it). They are known for racial profiling. If you are driving though the town and you see people pulled over 90% of them are black males. This is something that needs to be taken care of before it escalates to the next level and someone ends up seriously hurt or dead. My husband drives an expensive SUV and the cop asked him ""How are you driving this truck?"" Talk about an insane comment to make. Black men beware say away from Coraopolis, PA they will fry you for the color of your skin. Cons: Poor town, horrible police department who use Racial Profiling more
