Cooke's Veterinary Hospital

Ask to have a Rabies Titer, as our Dog was older, did not want the vaccine given. He said Vaccine was safe. 5 days later we almost lost our Dog. It damaged his Immune System completely. Ultimately he lost his long battle with many many problems. He went deaf, had Cushings Disease, and damaged his Thyroid.\r We lost him far to soon. I cannot bring him back.\r \r Dr. Cooke did admit it was a mistake giving him the Rabies Vaccine. I think he cares , please listen to your heart and if you want Titers please do it! Use Vaccines without Thermasol (Mercury) it does damage to many Dog's Immune System.\r \r We all make mistakes, this was a heartbreaking mistake, we lost our fur baby much sooner than we should have. It took at least 3 years off his life if not more. \r We trusted Dr. Cooke for almost 10 years. He really is a great man. I just do not trust the vaccines anymore not Dr. Cooke more

Dr. Cooke is the best vet ever. One of my puppies has a rare syndrome and Dr. Cooke has taken the time to research the problem and has provided excellent care. He is kind and patient to our puppies and to me as a concerned "parent". I would never go to anyone else and I have recommended him to many friends. more

Cookes Vet hopsital has been the premier place we have taken all our pets! When we bread our 2 schanuzers, he was jonny on he spot with all treatment, and took great care of our Mommy. When she had trouble with the pregnancy, Dr. Cooke made sure she was seen at every possible turn, and because of his caring heart he saved our Mommy and the babies!!! We will be forever grateful for Dr. Cooke and his wonderful staff!! I recommed Dr. Cooke to everyone I talk to!!! more

I have been going to Dr. Cooke for almost 30 years. \r \r As to the amount of cats he has in his office, they are there because he has a big heart. These cats have either come in for treatment or been left on his doorstep. When he hasn't been able to adopt them out, he keeps them in lieu of the deadly alternative.\r \r Sure, I guess for some people this is an issue, but it shows me his heart.\r \r Equally, when I took my ferret in to be euthanized, he took her out of the room, injected her, and brought her back to me and told me to "take my time" with her. He wasn't worried that he needed the room. He understood the grief I was going through and even peeked in on me several times to see if I needed anything.\r \r What a beautiful person. \r \r I don't go to anyone else. more

I have taken many of my pets to Dr. Cooke. I have always had a good experience. Yes, there are cats in the office. They are very friendly, clean and healthy. It's a veterinary office for crying out loud. Anyway, Dr. Cooke has always been very kind and honest with us. I would recommend his service to anyone. more

Our family loves Cooke's Veterinary Hospital!!! Yes, there are a lot of cats in the office, but in all the times I've been there it has always been clean and sanitary. Dr. Cooke is gentle, thorough, and professional, as is the rest of his staff. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Cooke and his crew!!! more

I went to this vet because it had all five star ratings. I don't know what place these people are going to, but it was not a place I will ever take my dog to again. I immediately walk in to a cat infestation. They let a good 20 cats roam around the office, sit on chairs, counters, and office equipment. I had to remove one from the sign in sheet. Some of the cats looked sick and diseased. There was pet urine and smeared feces on the floor, it was very unsanitary. The doctor and workers were very impersonal and I was charged a ridiculous amount (I have been other places that are way cheaper) just for my dog to get a shot and say he is done. I felt that my dog was not looked over (since it was a check up) and didn't ask if I had questions. Definitely not a place I would go to again. more

My mom started with Dr. Cooke when he was new and worked with someone else. She followed him when he started his own practice and has been through several pets with her. He is so caring and wonderful that he has helped her through the death of 3 older animals. I don't think anyone else could have done it better. \r \r I personally take all of my animals to him as well. Every time I go I get the best and most caring service ever. Occasionally we will board our dogs at another vet (because my dogs are big and they need to be boarded in larger kennels) and have them do shots or prescriptions at another vet and I always get burned. I have decided that I will only board at the other vet and never request their vet services because Dr. Cooke is so much better. \r \r I now take my dad's dog there as well. I recommend him to everyone who is looking for a good vet. more

I love Dr. Cooke and his staff. I have two pit bulls and a chihuahua. When my female pit had her last litter she had a lot of problems. I went to another vet in town and had nothing but trouble (lack of care and attention, rudeness, overcharging, overly technical, and demeaning). Dr. Cooke saved my mother dog and her puppies. I have taken my other dogs there as well. My chihuahua just got fixed there and he did a wonderful job. He obviously cares for the animals he treats regardless of the type of animal. His prices are reasonable and he is always willing to work with you. I have never had a bad experience with him and as far as I'm concerned he is the best in Kern County. My parents now take there dogs and cats there and also really enjoy him and the care he provides their animals. more

I have been taking my two cats and dog to Dr Cooke for about 7 years now he is an awsome pet doctor and is the best in kern county as far as im concerned he is always very polite with people and sincere when he must give bad news i would recomend him to all my family and friends jeannie young more
