Owners are the most knowledgeable you'll ever find....most helpful and willing to go the extra mile....have known them for years, entering the shop is like being in your own living room. Highly recommend a visit for a first-rate independent book dealer experience. Regarding the person whose dog climbed into the sidewalk planter, keep your animal under control for pity's sake !! more

Good: Nothing. Bad: The man and woman who run this shop treat customers like an annoyance and both have highly disagreeable personalities. The shop is dirty, musty, and smells like cats. This couple has no idea how to run a business and after three years of frequenting this shop, I've decided I've had enough.. Improvements: I would like to see this business close for good and vacate the space for another more successful, customer-friendly business to take its place.. Other: Today I was in the shop and witnessed the front desk woman express visible disgust for a small group of special needs teenagers who were in the shop accompanied by a teacher and three paradeducators. The group was on a "field trip" in the community to practice life skills (like visiting a business, saying hello to the employees, and purchasing an item). The woman was unspeakable rude, did not say hello back when the group of students greeted her, and said she had work to do and retreated to the back room.. more

I have been a customer of this bookstore for over 20 years. Here I have found mint copies of various books I have not been able to find anywhere else. The prices are competitive considering the quality of the books offered. Although I have moved out of the state, whenever I visit I make sure to stop by. Both a landmark and treasure, if you love books, you owe it to yourself to stop by. more

Comstock's is a true gem. I don't know how David Comstock keeps track of all the books, because he doesn't use a computer. But if you're looking for something, call or come in. He can tell you if he's got it and walk you over to where it's shelved. amazing! I only allow myself inside once a month or so, because I never leave without at least one "find"--even if it wasn't what I originally went in for. The cats are always helpful when browsing, too! more

Comstock’s is an old fashioned style used bookstore. You can find a wide selection of lovingly cared for used books. Pricing is competitive and the books are in good condition. The real find for Comstock’s is their book repair. If you have a family heirloom or just a favorite book that needs some work they’ll do it with competence and care. more
