poor customer service 6/13/2012

I took my hard drive in because I thought I had a virus. They got rid of the virus, installed AVG without telling me even though I bought antivirus software from them. It takes forever to get AVG off and it messes with the browser. The big thing, however, is they erased my I-Tunes Library making it impossible for me to sync my ipod again, without erasing it. They told me I did it, which is untrue. Now I have a whole bunch of work in front of me. Customer service - nah. Competence? more

Do Not Shop Here - Unfair Practices 9/1/2011

NEVER shop at Computer Stop!! My husband and I, along with our adult son, who assembles and tests our family PCs, went to Computer Stop on Aurora to get parts for a new PC. We spent over $1600.00 on assorted parts and a new monitor etc. This was not our first visit, over the past 10-12 years we have spent many thousands of dollars there as we've built a number of computers over the years, not counting this last time, repeat last time. Once the assembly began our son, Microsoft certified and employed, Lake Washington Voch Tech educated and working in the computer industry for the past 12 years, discovered a bent pin on the motherboard CPU socket and halted the work, packed up the board and we returned to get a replacement that was unbent. So, it sure is fun when the goods go out the door,.... huh fellas? They were all standing around beaming over a $1600+ sale on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Not so wonderful if you are actually expected to honor your own printed terms on the bottom of the invoice is it?? We were a full day within the 7 day terms for exchange or return, we told the truth as to our issue and lo and behold they treated us like shit. The manager accused us of bending the pin -- ever try and bend 1 pin? They refused any accommodation at all. Why on earth would we attempt to return only one item, out of 14 components bought that day? Why, if we were scamming them, wouldn't we return the most expensive item? We would have even accepted the 15% re-stocking fee, however, no way they would work with us. We weren't asking for money back, just an exchange of the defective item for an undamaged item (motherboard). Never go there for a fair business exchange, use the internet where at least you know from ratings if the seller is a shithead or not. more

computer memory expansion 8/21/2010

I desperately needed memory added to a 256 RAM computer so I call Best Buy. They had the RAM for $39.99 and the service charge to add it was $40. When I got there they told me they only had 512 MB and not 256 MB so they couldn't help me (they said 512 wouldn't work). So they ref'd me to Computer Stop When I go there they also told me they didn't have 256 but, no matter they could install 512. This was done quickly for a total price of $27!!!! Not only did I get a better price, they actually installed 512 MB of RAM instread of 256 (which BB told me couldn't be done). I saved about $60, got better/more knowledgeabel service, and the guy carried my CPU to my car! Excellent! This is the place for my computer issues from now on!!!! more

They have been good to me 5/5/2008

I bought a computer there. I have been very happy with it. They have provided very good follow up service whenever I needed it. It was not the most inexpensive computer BUT I am much more interested in it working well. My company also uses Computer Stop - Aurora and we have been very satisfied. I would recommend purchasing one of their custom systems - or, having someone who is familiar with computers helping select a system. That is what I did. Greg Logan more

Disk 8/16/2006

My computer diskette drive was not working. I went here to get a new one, but the prices were so high that I just said forget it and decided to just get a new computer. They had some discs that were over 10 bucks a piece, and I saw some of those in other stores for less then 1. more

If there's nowhere else to turn... 12/14/2005

I only use this place for replacement parts. This small shop has an OK selection, and their prices are also just OK. I've never been impressed with the service because it seems like the staff is just marking time until closing. I showed up last week at 2 minutes after 7pm (they close at 7) looking for a couple of hard disk drives. The fellow closing up at the register just stared at me blankly through the glass, then wandered away to the back. I went over to Sam's Club (next door) and got the exact same HDD for less. So, I'll keep coming back until I hear of some other place in my neighbourhood. more
