seriously this place is hell! my grandfather was in here due to getting MRSA in a hospital; workers are soo inconsiderate taking my grandfathers snacks that we brought him because the food was absolutely horrible! i wouldnt feed that sh*t to a dog! we had soo many items go missing including a tv; socks; underwear; bottles of pepsi; a tv remote; candy; a chain stating that my grandfather had Parkinson's disease. thats just a few to name the least. one month the nursing home decided to take my paps disability check! my pap had to stay here for close to a year due to the fact that my grandmother could not care for him. the nursing home never wanted to tell us that after the 100th day the insurance stopped paying,. we ended up signing him up for medicade; the nursing home declined to inform us we had to make a payment! next they tell us that we owe a $17,000+ bill! wtf we got him out of there immediately. still to this day i am receiving a bill for $19000+ guess what mother f*ckers you will NOT RECIEVE A DAMN PENNY FROM ME! I honestly hope they close the damn nursing home down! more

my family's experience with Commons at Squirrel Hill was to say at least...pitiful. My sister was there for 15 days and passed away on questionable circumstances. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE who is looking to place their loved ones. The nursing staff is not personable, they do not relay information between each other, and do not have your loved ones interest in mind. I witnessed patients roaming the halls unattended, lack of response time when a machine goes off, not checking in on patients who otherwise could not communicate to you their problems. When my sister passed away, they didn't even send a sympathy card, letter, note, email,NOTHING!! as if she wasn't there. I give them NO RATING...one star would have been giving them too much credit. please STAY AWAY...you do not want your loved one there!!!...the ONLY reason I put a STAR is because it wouldn't let me select NO STARS!!!!!!! more

this place has the worst dietary department I have ever seen. there have been numerous days where the advertised menu is not followed and there has been many substitutions made without prior notice. as a resident here, I have seen this more than I care to remember. they pass menu's out to the residents a week in advance and then on any specific day, that item is not available. the dept. manager obviously has no prior experience ensuring resident satisfaction. and there must be a way to get better cooks to prepare the food. some of the things they send down to us to eat are literally garbage. the state should really look into this dept and find out whose qualified to prepare these meals. i have no doubt they would find several violations and quite a few people who have no business preparing food. I did meet a gentleman who was a cook here who was very professional and who provided several enjoyable meals for me and my roommate. i was recently informed that he got fired, that was a terrible mistake, this place could use more people like him and his professional experience. thank you Lewis for all you did for me during my stay. you were the best. I can only hope this dept get overhauled soon and gets a complete makeover, after all it is only a one star nursing home and things can get a whole lot better. more

This facility has nursing supervisors that are unprofessional, well at least the one I met on Friday Feb.1st 3-11, the nurse that was suppose to be responsible to care for the facility- and WELL BEING of the residents, was stealing narcotics..... shame on you, and the worst part is this facility must obviosly be aware of this nurses issue, because they continue to keep her employed and I was told I could no longer come back. HOW PATHETIC. Perhaps they should hire someone who is not a narcotic abuser to care for the residents. The residents/patients work hard all their life, and all they get in the end is an unprofessional narcotic abuser to look after them in the event of an emergency???? All I can say is shame on the nurse and more so the facility for allowing this behavior. Keep your loved ones close by, and do not enter them into a facility like this!!!!!!!!!!!! To those reading from the facility management, you know who I am speaking of and shame on you!!!!!!! more
