Steer Clear of Comfort Tech! 12/12/2011

After doing due diligence on Comfort Tech and finding the glowing comments here and other locations we contracted Comfort Tech to install a geothermal system for our residence. I initially discussed the job in May 2011 with Harry Morgan, owner of Comfort Tech. In mid June Mr. Morgan came to our house to do an energy audit and survey our location. A week later Mr. Morgan called and presented a plan that seemed to be reasonable. The time frame was to have the system fully installed and working within 3 weeks. A contract was presented and signed by both parties an initial payment was made. Mr. Morgan immediately had problems locating a drilling contractor in our area. This persisted for several weeks and pushed our installation into August. Further problems were encountered with the arranged driller pushing our date into early September. The wells were finally drilled and Mr. Morgan installed the loops as promised and the geothermal units were delivered to our house, and this is where the job stands now in the second week of December! I have had one conversation with Mr. Morgan in mid-Sept when he promised to come the following week to finish the installation. Since then he has not responded to emails, or phone calls. He has also not responded from efforts to contact him from Earthlinked the geothermal equipment provider, and is no longer a licensed dealer or installer for them. I also attempted to locate Mr. Morgan physically by driving (1.5 hours away) to his office and found that it had moved and no forwarding address was given. We also have had calls from the drilling contractor since he has not been paid by Comfort Tech, even though we paid the drilling fee to Mr. Morgan. We are now out a considerable amount of money, geothermal equipment stacked in our garage and a torn up yard where the loops were installed. Earthlinked is assisting us in trying to find a reputable installer to finish this job, but it will not happen until sometime next year. Do not waste your time or money dealing with Comfort Tech! more

Helped Us When No One Else Would Fix Our Earthlniked Geothermal Nighmare in Weston, CT 8/16/2011

In 2008 we purchased our dream home in Weston, CT which was constructed by a builder who claimed to be an expert in green building and geothermal technology. The home came with 4 Earthlinked Geothermal Systems for HVAC and hot water. Almost immediately upon moving in, the main 6 ton unit failed. The builder contacted a local Earthlinked installer who replaced the compressor. The unit however continued to have problems, freezing up in a/c mode. The aforementioned installer abandoned us after several months with no explanation. We then contacted Earthlinked's regional sales representative and he referred us to someone he described as "Connecticut's best Earthlinked Installer". This individual continued to work on the system for the next year and half, taking over $25,0000 of our money, only to leave us in the snowy January of 2011 with a poorly functioning 6 ton unit and a broken, non-operational 3 ton unit. It then was revealed to us by the builder that the ground loops were all placed in close proximity in the same trench. No one, not the home builder, not any Connecticut Earthlinked installer, nor the regional Earthlinked Sales representative or Earthlinked Systems Inc. in Florida themselves offered to help us remedy the bad install or simply make any suggestions other than "tough luck!" That was until we came across Harry Morgan of Comfort Tech. Harry came all the way from Pennsylvania to our home in Connecticut to consult with us even before we had a contract with him. He spent an entire day viewing our failed systems and reviewing paper work from the unscrupulous Connecticut geothermal installer. He then provided us with a detailed contract which he stuck to for the entire job. He spent over a month supervising the drilling of 16 new geothermal wells, the placement of new loops, and personally reinstalling all four systems. We purchased a new three ton unit to replace the one killed by "Connecticut's best installer" and Harry was able to get Earthlinked to replace the 6 ton unit. When he left our home a month later, all four systems (the three heating/cooling systems and a domestic hot water system) were up and running. Not only did he repair the systems but he showed us that the previous systems had never really worked at all; In fact all they were doing were racking up huge electric bills. Harry's excellent work was reflected in the last two electric bills where charges have dropped significantly. If we had not seen Harry's website and contacted him, we would still be in the serious mess we were in three months ago. more

Very professional. We highly recommend them. 4/5/2011

I would highly recommend Comfort Tech, and in fact, I already have. In all honesty, my husband was with them all the time, and he said that the guy who came out was very professional. They didn't take long to do the work, maybe about half an hour, and they told us things about heating and air conditioning that we had never known about. more

Comfort Tech Heating and Air Conditioning were courteous and professional. 4/4/2011

It was a good experience working with Comfort Tech. They were courteous and provided good service. The only thing that I found fault with, was they couldn't give me an exact time they could be here. Otherwise, I thought they were friendly, professional, and did very well. I'd use them again in the future. Dave West more

Kept his word...job done! 3/4/2011

When we had our heating emergency we found Harry Morgan through an online referral service. He gave us a call right away. We had a clear and concise discussion that made sense, so, we choose his company. I'm glad that we did! Harry did the job that he said he would do and in a timely manner!. He made sure to explain the problem, the solution choices, walked us through the paper work, and made sure we understood how to work the equipment. His team focused and efficient. This was especially important since we had to replace our furnace in the middle of winter. We are up and running, better then before. Looking forward to years of Good service! more

Very good work. 1/18/2011

Comfort Tech Heating and Air Conditioning comes to clean my heater and air conditioner. I have used them for about 3 or 4 years. As long as you can get Harry to come on time it is great. That is the only problem. Harry is a really good guy, and his work is great. I can't complain about his work. He is very good at his job. He is a decent guy, and very upfront with his customers, which is best. more

Great company. Knowledgeable. Professional. Honest. 1/13/2011

I have worked with Comfort Tech both as a customer and as a consultant. Its owner Harry Morgan, is among the best in the business, especially in the case of geothermal. Harry is the EarthLinked Technologies preferred contact in the Northeastern United States for warranty work, complex troubleshooting, and difficult installations. In addition to the tools and equipment normally used in the HVAC industry, Mr. Morgan maintains a full set of computer tools ranging from CAD software to ACCA accredited software for heating and cooling calculations (Manual J/Manual D). His skills and commitment to the proficient use of these tools alone sets him apart. Added to the other attributes mentioned, Comfort Tech is able to offer commercial and industrial levels of service to residential customers. My experience with Comfort Tech shows that Mr. Morgan not only preaches competence, he practices it, and he is committed to ethics and honesty above all else. I have worked with him on projects and relied on his judgment on projects whose HVAC cost exceeded $100K. I find him to be a competent practitioner and a reliable partner. more
