The Columbus Zoo is great! 11/30/2006

If you're ever in the Columbus area, you have to go to the zoo! It is the best zoo I've ever been to, except possibly San Diego's. In winter, it is amazing! They have the Wildlights going on, so at night there are millions of lights all over the trees and exhibits. They also have ice skating, Santa Claus, and the year-round carousel rides. The animals are in very natural looking habitats and are all arranged according to where they live in the wild - Congo area, Asia Quest, North Amrerica, etc. My favorite are the great apes and the Bonobos in the Congo. My daughter LOVES the petting zoo! more

Beautiful zoo 8/22/2006

My family visited the Columbus Zoo this past summer, and I was amazed at what a beautiful zoo it is! There is a large variety of animals. My personal favorite was the baby elephant, and my daughter loved the orangutan. One was right up next to the glass, and he (or she?) and my daughter sat eye to eye for about 15 minutes. It made me wonder who was watching who? The exhibits are large, and well maintained. There are hoses throughout the park letting out fine mists of water, which is great for the kids to pause and play in. Another feature which really impressed me is that there are actually hand washing statements outside of the petting areas, with soap, water, and santizing gel. Jack Hanna has done an excellent job with the zoo! more

Animal Experience 4/13/2006

If you are a visitor to Columbus and love animals or have children, you can’t leave the city without stopping by the Columbus Zoo. Repeatedly the Columbus Zoo has been recognized nationally as a top zoo in the nation. In addition, you may have seen the Columbus Zoo’s very own Jim Hannah on numerous talk shows etc. The zoo is full of great exhibits allowing you to truly enjoy the animals and lovely gardens and green space to enjoy as well. more

Columbus Zoo 11/22/2005

If you enjoy having fun with your family, the Columbus Zoo and Aquaruim is the place to go. They have a great enviroment for kids to learn about different animals. Lots of fun things for them to do, petting zoo, pony rides, train rides, boat rides and a big playground area. The admission was very reasonable. They have plenty of places to eat but we chose to take our cooler in and have sandwhiches and drinks. The huge aquarium area is amazing, you could easily sit there for hours watching the fish, and then go over to the manatee tank. Dont forget to stop by and see the baby elephant!! The little shops have plenty of inexpensive items to help remember your trip also. more

Nice place to go 9/17/2005

For a major city like ours this place could be a whole lot better. Howver, they do incredible with what they do have. We can get through there in about 4 hours. It's a very cool place for a wedding reception. While your guests are waiting for you to arrive, they can take their kids around the zoo until you get there. more

Wonderful zoo to visit 9/2/2005

Everyone knows Jack Hanna, so you definitely want to see his zoo. They have so many neat exhibits, like the manatees, and the kangaroos, and lots of neat shows that showcase certain animals. They are adding a new exhibit now and I am anxious to see it. If you are a member of another zoo you are able to get a discount at the Columbus Zoo. There is so much to see that you can't do it all in one day. Another nice thing is that there is a picnic area, so you can bring in your own food, which is a big money saver! The memberships are relatively inexpensive and kids love it more

Lucky! 8/28/2005

We are so lucky to have such a great establishment here in Columbus. Jack Hanna is a national figure that keeps the zoo in the spotlight all of the time and its a wonderful place for kids and adults. another place that i take my out of town visitors and they are stunned to see such a great zoo in a midwestern city that isnt huge. the animals are great and people are always amazed that there is something around every corner. more

Great place for the kids 8/20/2005

I am definatley very impressed with the Columbus zoo. I cannot say enough great things about it! The animals and displays are one of a kind. And the shows and exhibits are wonderful! Thy have lots of things that appeal to the younger ones, while a grown-up can enjoy it as well. the park is exceptionally clean, and well kept. I reccomend getting a season pass if you live close enough to go often! Well worth the money! more

Great Zoo 8/20/2005

I grew up in a city where the Zoo was free so it took a little getting used to paying to go to the Zoo but the Columbus Zoo is pretty worth it. We recently bought a family season pass and have been there a number of times this summer. Its a shame the Zoo has been getting a lot of bad publicity because even with the remodeling there is a lot to see. The baby elephant is pretty cute so go see it before it grows up! If you plan on going more than a couple of times a year then I recommend the season pass, you will save a lot and not feel pressure to do so much on each visit. more

Lions and tiger and bears 8/20/2005

Zoos are tough, but if you choose to bypass the whole morality thing, the Columbus Zoo is a pretty good one. You can see the manatees eat their heads of lettuce at feeding time, check out the usual primate antics in the monkey house, and so on. My favorite surreal bit is the lion's habitat which overlooks a busy throughway. For Valentine's Day, I believe you and your honey can go on a tour of animal mating habits, which I always wanted to do but haven't yet. It's $9 to get in and more to park; I think it's most interesting to go in the off season, like the middle of winter, when no one's there and the zoo-weirdness is accentuated. more

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is such a fun place to spend the day. There are 600 species and 7000 specimens of animals living at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. All in natural habitat, you can see snakes, birds, otters, elephants, rinos, flamingos, sharks, kangaroos, monkeys, bears, wolves, cougars and SO much more. Too many to list! It is open every day of the year and you can also make special priced group reservations. more

Columbus Zoo 8/13/2005

This is a great zoo for kids! I have been taking my son since he was 3 months old. He loves the Aquarium. He would probably be happy to sit and watch the fishies all afternoon. The zoo is very stroller friendly. We have an annual pass which includes parking fees. There is a large play area just for kids which is right next to an indoor food court and also picnic tables if you pack a lunch. more

Great place for kids 8/4/2005

This is a great place for kids as they love to see all the animals. They always seem to have something new and always have different activities going on. I especially like the zoo at Christmas when they have all the lights up. It's been a few years since we've been there at Christmas, but they have the lights up for quite a few weeks and they have really nice displays. more

Fun and educational 6/30/2005

This zoo is one of the better ones in terms of education and conservation as opposed to just showing off the animals. Their gorilla exhibit is especially good, as well as fascinating. My daughter's favorite parts of the zoo are the manatees, the huge "bug" playground, and the boat rides. Worth the price of admission regardless, but a really good deal with a membership. more
