I had to go to Savannah for a wedding and needed a recommendation for the best hairdresser in town. A friend of a friend told me to go to Color Boxx. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and by the relaxing atmosphere. I came out looking better than I could have imagined and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a hairdresser in Savannah! Pros: ambiance, stylists, color, kindness of the owner more

Very reasonable, very personable, very caring and very, very, very talented. She will listen to you and you will leave looking fabulous and feeling happy! Can't say too many good things about this salon...and I'm not the easiest person in the world to please! Can't go wrong w/Color Boxx and Ms. Nikki! Oh and a bit of advice, I approached this salon based on good reviews on another site from actual CLIENTS and not disgruntled ex-employees. I only saw these after my experience there...which was nothing but positive. So, to anyone out there who wants to give it a shot, go for it--you'll be glad you did. Here's my story: I'm new to Savannah and tried to color my own hair with fairly disastrous results. I phoned them up today a sweet and helpful receptionist, Alyssa answered and I explained my situation to her. After asking me to hold, she came back on almost immediately and said Nikki asked me to come by and she would work me in. I've never even been to this salon and Nikki (who was flying solo today--a busy Saturday) was kind enough to squeeze me in??? I was quite pleasantly shocked! Located in the Starland district, the salon has a cool, minimalistic somewhat industrial look w/exposed piping and hair dryers suspended from the ceiling above the chairs on the ready for the stylists. Plus there's a bakery right next door! I am extremely picky about my hair and she listened very carefully and understood what I like and don't like in a hairstyle. She knew exactly what to do in order to achieve the color I really wanted. When I came in, my hair had hideous orange/yellow highlights and when I left, it was a lovely, soft buttery/beige blonde. And, soft and silky, to boot. She corrected my at-home color oops, formulated a game plan for the future of my hair style and even sent me home with a couple of little to go cups filled with a two types of shampoos that I'm to alternate until used up. And, I might add, she gave me these products without even trying to hawk them to me. And, just when I thought things couldn't get any better, she asked me to come in next week just so she could check on it and see how the new color behaved over my color oops...to make sure it was still looking okay and to possibly add a few more foils, if necessary...and...are you sitting down??? At NO charge. She explained she's just a perfectionist that way----which is a welcomed quality in a hairdresser! In addition to being a truly awesome colorist/stylist, she also is extremely warm, friendly and funny. Oh and Alyssa gives wonderful scalp massages with each shampoo! Pros: super customer service and skillful stylist Cons: none to speak of more

All of those people has huge envy of the salon and Nikki, because all them are losers and unprofessionals. I am sure that they never will be sucessful.I am a salon's client and I know all of these people (ex staff) that write these stupid things. They have lot of time to be in internet ... girls go to work , study and some of them need to lose weight and take showers Pros: great salon and services Cons: nothing more

Nikki is the best stylist ever! She has done my hair for 4 years and I am ALWAYS happy with it! I get compliments on my cut and color all the time. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

I have been going to Nikki for about 3 years. She is a fantastic, talented stylist and always has me feeling gorgeous when I walk out the salon door. I love my hair now more than ever... it keeps getting better and better. I wish I had Nikki every morning to blowout my hair; it looks perfect after she does her thing! This salon is clean and nice .Scorned ex employees write fake bad reviews that are unsubstantiated and bogus complaints that are untrue. Each new client is called to follow up on their service and experience . Quality control is the number one priority . Many loyal fans. Pros: Great service nice salon Cons: nothing more

i would like to start out that this is not to all the girls at the salon... i came to the salon thinking it would be upscaled and an experince...boy was i wrong . this nikki that seemed to be out of it just not paying attentionto anyone but the weirdo in the back ....ii showed her a picture of the color and cut i wanted and it took her 30 mins just to come back to me then she just highlighted my hair and u could not see the color unless u pulled it back it was also orange it was horrible then she cut my hair and it was all gapped up but then i came back and just added more highlights and toned it down but as days went by it was turning orange ... nikki didnt pay any attention to anything and the con man in the back def had her wrapped around his finger ... good luck to the other girls but i would leave that place asap... more

What is going on at this place? I was excited when I first went there, but since around the end of the year, it is all down hill. I am assuming the owner is the blonde lady- she seems very unhappy and the other stylists seem to be walking on eggshells. I have noticed three different stylists who have left within the last month and now, my favorite stylist,Judy is also gone. I am hoping she is still in Savannah, so I can go wherever she has moved to. It would appear that there must be a problem with either the management or the owner as three stylists leaving cannot be coincidental. I am not happy with the atomosphere here which is sad since it used to be quite good. I also do not care for the hispanic man who seems to ogle the women who come in- he reminds me of a sort of ""Rico Suave"" and I do not pay a hefty price to have my hair done to be gawked at by this person. A little class please. Perhaps it is simply his personality, but it is unnerving. I am sorry to have to write this review as Colorboxx was my favorite salon here in Savannah, I only hope the owner or owners will come to their senses very soon and take the steps neccessary to remedy whatever has gone wrong here. Nikki at The Color Boxx has been cutting and coloring my hair for over 10 years now. Honestly, she's the reason I won't move away from Savannah... who would do my hair?!? The collective talent of every stylist at The Color Boxx is incredible. I see amazing hair and happy clients every time I am there. The only direction I frequently give Nikki is ""kick it up a notch"", and she produces yet another amazing cut and color. My motorcycle is my only means of transportation, I get many compliments on my hair even AFTER wearing my helmet all day! Who else can give you a cut that will transcend ""helmet hair""? All the stylists are like a family, I find the atmosphere classy, yet still casual and relaxing. I have had many appointments after bad shifts at work, and have come away refreshed mentally as well as physically. If I could give The Color Boxx 100 stars I would. Pros: Parking is easily found and the level of service is amazing. Cons: The proximity of the oft mentioned bakery...but honestly is that really a con? more

I have been to many, and I say MANY salons in town and have had every color in the rainbow and many not on purpose. Stylists everywhere say the same thing, ""we can do it and we are the best"" but I have done the leg-work and they can't. My hair has been through the ringer but Nikki, owner of ColorBoxx, saved my do and I am loyal to the end for what she did and continues to do everytime I see her. I love change and she stays up on the hottest cuts and colors and my hair has never been healthier. I love all the stylists there and recommend them over anyone and everyone in town. Save your hair, your image and your time and go to Color Boxx!!!! Pros: Open, airy atmosphere; not ""clickish""; excellent service Cons: The bakery next door will make you gain a hundred pounds if you allow yourself! more

I have been stalking Nikki the Colorboxx owner for nearly six years now. I am the silly client that just stops in to say ""hi"" even when I don't have an appointment. I can not image and cringe at the idea of having someone else take care of my hair. I think of Nikki as an artist when she does my hair. She and her staff are well education in their field and it shows when their clients leave be it at man or a women they look amazing! more

I see a lot of bad reviews about this salon on here. Its seems strange that they all seem to be written by the same person. Anyone who has been to the salon might be familar with a young woman who used to work here. She had a very short Peter Pan like haircut kinda similar to a burnt tennis ball. Well anyways it comes as no suprise to me that she would write these sort of things as substance abuse has a tendency to make people do crazy things like that. Personally my experiences with all the other employees have been excellent and i find it extremely tacky for someone to try to lie about other people because of their own personal problems. more

I have recently moved to Savannah from NY and I was looking for a Salon to frequent. This city is not the biggest of places is more like a small town than anything else. So I decided to go off of reviews from city search. But something just doesn't seem right with this salon. It seems by the reviews that it just a childish game going back and forth between the owner and her employees. But most of all just by looking at the dates is that someone wrote a bad review and the owner compensated by writing fake positive reviews. This place just screams drama to me and I would rather get my hair styled from family cuts than listen to stupid, childish, petty drama. If I am wrong please inform me I need a new salon.
