I wasn't particularly thrilled with my old salon, but kept going because of the location. Then I met one of the stylists, Erica Mason, at a networking group I attend and decided to check her out. Erica did a fantastic job. I was floored with her attention and loved how she listened to what I wanted in for my color and my cut. She took her time, and I left feeling fabulous. I usually left my old salon with the urge to ""undo"" all that was done. Not this time! I'm hooked and will be coming back to Erica again soon! more

I have been to many salons and Cobalt Blue is the best one I have ever been too. The atmosphere is fun and the stylist are all very friendly. I love my new hair color and the cut is perfect, exactly like the picture I showed my stylist, Leslie. As soon as you walk in you receive a warm welcome and they ask is you would like something to drink and they just make you feel overall comfortable. I can't imagine going to another salon after going to Cobalt Blue. Teresa, one of the owners actually took the time to call me the next business day to ask how my experience was. Just to take the time to call shows how much they care about their clients. When I first called and made my appt. I inquired about the products they carry so I went ahead and purchased a shampoo and conditioner she thought would be a good match for my hair because I have been having problems with breakage when I blow my hair dry well when I washed and conditioned with the product she suggested for my hair type and then blew it dry I had ZERO breakage!! That was AWESOME AND SO ARE ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE!! If you want beautiful hair and meet new friends I suggest you go to Cobalt Blue Salon. Leah Burns more

Totally awesome!\r \r The atmosphere of the place is really friendly. The stylist there are always fun and full of energy. They try to get to know you and interact as theyre providing a service. I go there to get my eyebrows waxed. AWESOME! Erica pays close attention and makes sure she does the job well. I will be going back soon to get my eyebrows done and possibly a haircut. :) more

I've been getting my hair cut there for the past year & love all the stylist there; all fun girls, always going to classes to improve and advance their skills, has a laid-back atmosphere and good music. The first time I ever went there, I felt like I was home! I was greeted so happily, like they were genuinely happy to see me. I was treated warmly, respectfully, with care and continue to be each time I visit.\r \r The head message is my favorite thing as well as the relationship I have with my stylist. Although I do not have a regular weekly/monthly appointment, Jessica picks right up where we left off the last time I was there. \r \r The location is also super for me. It is conveniently located near a grocery store, coffee house, several restaurants, liquor store, and a few gyms. The salon is conveniently located and offers a great deal on hair cuts. My stylist was very friendly and gave a great scalp massage. I was very pleased with the end result and the suggestions she gave for hair care. more

Great salon, nice & clean. Cool decor & atmosphere. AMAZING stylist Erica Mason! She listened to what I wanted which was not a normal highlight job or cut. She was excited about doing something different. She asked great questions and had great suggestions not all that I took but still liked that she thought outside of the box. She was very detailed and thorough in her cut & highlight techniques. She gave me a great hand massage while we waited on the color processing. Even the shampoo was awesome with a great head massage. I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely go back. And I LOVE my cut & highlights. Already getting compliments like crazy from it. Thanks Erica!! more

I've been wowed by the results from Robin's dry-cuts. She evaluates and respects each of those curls and the dry cutting seems to provide a long lasting and natural shape. My hair actually looks nice when I wake up in the morning. I also love her color expertise. She keeps me in highlights that look natural and are not expensive. She remembers what we are working toward from visit to visit and she remembers my habits etc. Robin is always upbeat and ready to provide engaging commentary and conversation or she can allow you to quietly chill out. She makes me feel good. The salon has great specials, on-line booking, and friendly service. It is easy to get to - right off Mopac and William Canon. The parking can be scarce if it is feeding time at the adjacent P. Terry's burger joint, but there is also always quick turnaround. Pros: service, price, results, professionalism, consistency more

Robyn is very friendly, and very capable. She has been cutting my hair since 2007, and It is always a perfect cut! She knows exactly what to do when I tell her what I want, and it ends up looking much better than any of the ""salons"" I've been to. \r The atmosphere of the salon is great, too. Robyn seems to know everyone, which gives it that small town salon feel. \r On top of that, she tells great stories and has a fantastic sense of humor. I always leave in a good mood. I really like this place. I started going here over a year ago. The first time I went, it was mainly because I felt that I was over-paying at the salon I was going to at the time and figured it was worth trying something new. Now I don't intend to go anywhere else! The customer service here is outstanding. They always offer me something to drink; I received a welcome letter which contained a lot of coupons as a new client, etc. Haircuts for women just aren't cheap but I feel that the fees are much more reasonable than other places I've been. I see Jessica and have been always been happy with the results. I highly recommend this salon. Pros: Great service, convenient location, reasonable fees Cons: Can't think of any more

I tried out this salon one weekend to get just an all over dark brown color, something I've had done many times. I explained to the girl everything that I had done in the past months to my hair so she knew what she was working with. I stressed that I didn't want it to be so dark that it looked black. She spent a very long time picking out the color. It turned out jet black. She assured me it wasn't black and said that color was guaranteed for two weeks. The next day I couldn't stand it, so I called back in to have it fixed. I was told that the girl that did my hair was out sick but that the master colorist (or something to that effect) would fix it for me, but that I would have to bear with them because they were very busy. When I came back at the time instructed, I had to wait, during which time a man who had an appointment came in and rescheduled his appointment due to having to wait. The stylists weren't apologetic at all and instead kept saying things like ""what kind of color did you have in here before?"" as if something I had done previously was the cause of this. I've had my hair colored for years, this has never happened. The previous color was actually probably the best color I had ever had, but it was out of state while on vacation, so I couldn't go back. They did spend time with me trying to fix my color, but were very unsuccessful. First of all, the woman who they said would be fixing my hair wasn't actually the one working on it, she was instructing someone else what to do. After using a toner and bleach and damaging my hair further, the black didn't lift at all but I was left with awkward old reddish hilites coming through at random spots. They told me this was the best they could do and I would need to come in in a couple weeks when it had faded a bit. I did get an apology call from the stylist a few days later that stated the master colorist would be contacting me to set up a time for me to come back in. She never did, and I was too frustrated at that point to pursue it. I spent over $100 dollars here to have my color ruined and hair damaged, and paid another salon 5 weeks later to fix it. I'm a student, this wasn't in my budget. more

I had my highlights done by the resident apprentice for 15$ and wound up with 70$ results. I have had the best hair cut of my life- twice. I had my hair styled for my wedding and i swear it got as many compliments as my dress. I have floated around between available stylists for years, but when i experienced the artistic, homey, super friendly atmosphere of Cobalt Blue i knew that i would never go anywhere else again. The appointments run long, but that is mostly because they are more concerned with the comfort of each customer than a rapid turn over. I always feel pampered and welcome and i can go months between cuts if i have to because they are such quality that they grow out BEAUTIFULLY. I can not say enough about the owner and receptionist- so helpful and warm. You can't beat comfort, quality, and results! Pros: atmosphere, staff, results Cons: long appointments more

I recently visited Cobalt Blue and the stylist was great. I was very pleased with the results; however, the owner, Theresa, pulled the stylist into the office for a 20 minute meeting while I was in the middle of a shampoo. Needless to say, I find this very unprofessional and my business didn't seem to be important to the owner. I have many choices and my time is valuable! I do not expect this rudeness when I am paying good money for services. An apology was made by the stylist but nothing was said to me by the owner. I started going to Brandi for my cut and colors about 2 years ago and absolutely love the color I wind up with every single time. She's a whizz when it comes to coloring. As far as haircuts, I typically only get trims so my opinion on cuts isn't really valid. \r However, my major complaint with Cobalt Blue, a.k.a. Brandi, is that she's a high-in-demand stylist and I typically have to make my appointments way in advance in order to block time with her. So, I book my appointment way in advance, but still wind up getting put with Brandi's assistant(s) half the time. Brandi still ""oversees"" them, but meanwhile, she's working on another client. And THEN, I get stuck paying the price for a high quality stylist when I had been stuck with a stylist in training for half the time... First time I went, I was totally wowed and loved the color, haircut and service. Second time, same person, totally different color and haircut and almost no service. My niece got a wonderful Japanese style haircut there, and my brother gets his haircuts there, and I am going to try again. so i went to cobalt awhile back. i left feeling very typical. looking around the salon there was nothing unique about the salon its self, the employees, the decor. very cookie cutter. i live in AUSTIN, i want to be be different expressing that through my clothes and style. if you are looking for something edgy, fun, fashion forward, and unique this is not the place for you. if you want to blend into the crowd this the place for you. But if not there are a lot of salons in austin that can provide you with something really new and hip! so keep looking and dont settle for the normal and boring just because its convienent and affordable. Erica was so great. I needed a haircut last minute and she was able to see me ASAP. As soon as I got there she had me in the chair and listened to me ramble on about how I hated my hair and didn't know what I wanted to do with it. It has been a very long time since I actually liked my hair, and Erica knew exactly what to do and proceeded with confidence, which made me feel comfortable, and then worked her magic!\r \r I walked out of there with a very inexpensive haircut and I felt great. (and I look incredibly cute! :-) I had so much fun. I have paid a lot of money for some pretty awful cuts in this town. This is the best experience by far that I have had at any salon in Austin.
