Service was bad and food was average 8/28/2010

We finally sat at 8:30 and didn't get our dinner until after Apparently the kitchen was way behind and nothing was under control. Unfortunately instead of awesome food, which I will wait for, it was completely average. The waitress was nice enough, but saying 'sorry' and avoiding us is just unacceptable. To pass the time we asked for more bread 3 times and never got it. On another random note I guess they ran out of chicken and cornbread. more

Coast review - best app in Plano 7/11/2010

We love coming here to hang before a movie for just a small bite and glass of wine, or after one for a full meal. The tuna carpaccio is a favorite, though we have enjoyed everything we've had here. Staff is very considerate of allergies, wine selection reasonable and overall a great place for seafood aficionados. Now if only they had 1/2 price wine on Sundays ;-) Pros: tuna carpaccio is awesome more

Love this seafood! 7/6/2010

Take a gander at this amazing restaurant. Above and beyond the excellent seafood in plano, you will find a huge patio to entertain on, a large back room for dining and a fantastic brunch ( if they still have it). I was compelled to write a review today after having dined there again today and thought it must be the best hidden seafood restaurant seceret in Plano. Give them a try I think you will like it! Pros: The service is excellent and the place id lovely more

Love this Place! 4/19/2010

My husband and I go to dinner here about twice a week. We love the atmosphere, and the friendly service. They also have a great patio that overlooks the fountain. We enjoy going to Coast because we do not want to drive into Dallas every night, and at Coast we experience the same upscale atmosphere and fantastic food without the drive.\r \r They have more than just seafood, and they are adding more meat dishes to their menu. I love their calamari, and they have some really unique sweet potato hummus. Also on Monday nights, they have half price bottles of wine, and if you like sweet drinks, they have a great martini called the Bon Bon. As far as entrees go, I enjoy the red snapper, and my husband always has the half roasted chicken...both are incredible. Oh...I cannot forget about the yummy bread they have for starters and they have a great jasmine rice side dish.\r \r On this site you will see mixed reviews about this restaurant, but I definitey reccommend checking it out for yourself. Personally, I think it is about time that the Plano/Frisco area has an upscale restaurant like Coast. :) Pros: Beautiful aesthetic design, delicious food! more

Below what we expected 8/23/2009

My husband and I love Shops at Legacy and were excited to try Coast Global Seafood. We made reservations on the patio so we could see the fountain. The view was great and the patio was very nice. The restaurant itself is very upscale and has a soothing vibe (typical for Shops at Legacy). We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was great...light and fresh. My husband ordered the light portion of the halibut with roasted corn relish. Light portion is an understatement...it was good, but definitely not worth $22. I ordered the Coast Salad and that was bigger than his plate (and pretty good). In the end, we decided we probably wouldnt return due to sub par service and over priced food for the quality and quantity. We read this in other reviews but decided to try out for ourselves and probably should have taken their advice! Pros: Calamari was great and the ambiance is soothing and nice! Cons: Had to wait a while to be served, food portions are tiny more

Great ambience... but pass 7/31/2009

***UPDATE - THIS RESTAURANT IS NOW CLOSED***\r \r The food was mediocre, the prices were high for the quality, and the service was poor.\r \r It took 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. It took another 10 minutes for water and then yet 10 more minutes for drinks to arrive. This was at 8:00 pm on a Thursday... we could understand it they were busy, but there were only several tables with clients in the entire restaurant. It goes on and we will spare the other details - the service was poor and lacked attentiveness. \r The one good mention is for the salad, which was fresh, crisp and tasty. It included toasted nuts with a zesty vinaigrette dressing.\r \r The bread arrived just seconds before the meal, and was sub-par. The corn bread was tasteless and soggy and the rolls stale.\r \r For our entrees we each ordered something different and were unfortunately quite disappointed for the $29 price of most of the meals. The flavors were missing the sophistication and presentation of a high priced dining experience.\r \r We left with a big bill and feeling quite disappointed. And on the way out we shared our sentiments with other clients, who agreed they would not be back.\r \r The view from the patio is nice, but save your time and money - you can get twice the quality and half the price at any other restaurant in the Shops at Legacy. Try Nicola's instead if you'd like a fine dining experience.\r Pros: Sitting outside watching the fountains Cons: Food quality, price and service more

mother's day 5/10/2009

my husband took me and our two boys to coast for mother's day. it was our first time eating there and there was a fixed menu. first i have to say that i really appreciated the decor of the restaurant. it was extremely clean and i loved the simplicity of it as well as all the details they put into it, but i really get into the decor of restaurants. i noticed everything within my eyesight and loved everything i saw. it was very impressive. first off, i ordered a bottomless bloody mary which i really liked the flavor of a lot but have to say - after i licked all the salt off my rim and ate my olive and drank all of my bloody mary- they DID NOT - bring me a new bloody mary. they poured me more from a pitcher. i was a little shocked and disappointed. it was lukewarm at best and kind of watered down and not to mention i was out of salt and olives. needless to say i stopped there and didn't order another. but on to the meal. the shrimp tortilla soup was the best soup i have had in my life. i swear to god. it was very spicy and clean. it was just broth over big chunks of shrimp and avocado and thin tortilla strips. i am a tortilla soup snob and i always have a complaint about a restaurant's tortilla soup but this was was made for me! for the main course which took forever it seemed- but with two small boys- it may have just seemed longer, i ordered the filet mignon medium with mashed potatoes and broccoli. it was delicious. my steak was cooked perfectly - wait - PERFECTLY!i was so happy because i almost always have to send my steaks back because they are either too raw or overdone at other restaurants. my husband got the crab cakes benedict which he thought were okay. the eggs were poached perfectly which -again- we usually have to send back because they are overcooked. he thought that the crab cakes were bland and the english muffin it all sat on was very hard and tough. my kids had the pancakes with maple syrup and fruit salad and they loved theirs. and this has to be mentioned - the fruit salad was not just honeydew, cantaloupe and grapes and bananas- it was a REAL fruit salad with lots of mango, pineapple, big chunks of grapes, bananas and i believe kiwi and so yummy! next was dessert- which really did take an eternity and by that point our kids were begging to go. we honestly almost just asked for the check and skipped the dessert- we were desperate for our nonexistent waitress. i had ordered the lemon phyllo tart and my husband the chocolate cake. i didn't try his cake but damn- that was a freaking good lemon tart and worth every minute of the wait and whining from our kids. we will meet again in my dreams tonight! we are excited to go back and try their regular menu and hopefully have quicker, more attentive service but overall all it was a very enjoyable meal. until we meet again my lemon phyllo tart.... Pros: best tortilla soup ever (and lemon tart) Cons: slow service more

Don't waste your money! 4/8/2009

one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The calimari was the worst I have ever had. I had the sole which was overcooked and cold. My wife had the samon on top creamy leaks which had no flavor and a sauce that tasted like orange juice from a can. Thier is no way a chef that worked for Eric rippert and puts out this kind of food. Cons: food and service more

Coolest Place in Plano 3/30/2009

This place is a must see! The interiors are beautiful without being too formal and the fountain views almost make it a tourist attraction. But the real star is the food. So many seafood restaurants in the Dallas Metroplex are either chains or ""Barnacle Billy: kinds of experiences. This is fine dining at reasonable prices with the best seafood and fish in town. And for you landlubbers--one of the best New York Strips this side of well, New York. Go. Now. Pros: Fabulous Chef more

Don't Believe the Hype 3/25/2009

I was really excited about going to this restaurant. (My husband and I live in the area.) We love the Shops at Legacy and are always looking for a new reason to visit. We had high hopes for Coast. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The service is terrible. It took 10 minutes for our waitress to bring water. The caesar salad was on par with one you might get in those prewashed bags at the grocery store. Our entrees were mediocre and under-seasoned. On the upside, the calamari and crabcake were tasty and the atmosphere is wonderful. Proceed with caution. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Poor Service more

Great atmosphere 3/23/2009

This is a great new Plano resturant to go meet friends for a cocktail and dinner. While hanging out in the bar or the patio you can watch the fountains and listen to the music. They have a great bar menu, extensive wine list and an awesome dinner menu. Since the warm weather is arriving you need to come experience the patio area to see what I am talking about. Pros: Great patio more

Excerpt from a review in the newspaper 3/2/2009

A little insider information for you foodies: The restaurant's team includes Michael Cox, who was previously at Central Market and before that at Star Canyon with chef Stephan Pyles; Michael Bratcher, who most recently was partnered with chef Blaine Staniford at Fuse and Scene; and pastry chef Katherine Clapner, who was previously at Stephan Pyles.\r \r At the opening: Approximately 200 guests mingled and got their wine glasses refilled promptly, as staffers roamed with full bottles and trays of snacks such as chopped tuna on toast, halibut with lentils, fried shrimp, and mini-cups of tortilla soup. By Far one of the best opening events in Plano.\r \r \r Pros: unique and tasteful dishes more

Great Experience! 2/16/2009

My wife and I came into Coast for our Valentine's Day dinner. The restaurant looked extremely elegant and we were placed in a private room that was adjacent to the wine cellar. The atmosphere was fantastic. We shared the Peruvian Causa, an interesting potato dish that our waiter suggested and we both loved it. I had the Skate Wing and my wife had the Scallops. I can honestly say it was the best Skate wing I have ever had, and the Scallops came with an extremely savory and delicious chardonnay cream sauce. The service was some of the best we've experienced, on par with some of Dallas' finest restaurants. Sam really took care of us and we'll be back to see him. We finished the night with a cocktail in the lounge that faced a gorgeous fountain. Overall it was a great evening, a fantastic restaurant and a memorable experience. We will be back! more
