GREAT STEAK HOUSE 2/16/2011

MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE BEEN COMING TO THIS RESTAURANT FOR MANY YEARS. IT HAS BEEN CONSISTANTLY GREAT. FROM INTIMATE DINNERS FOR TWO TO FAMILY CELEBRATIONS THE CLUBHOUSE HAS MAINTAINED THEIR HIGH STANARDS BOTH IN SERVICE AND AMAZING FOOD. SO IT SADDENED AND CONFUSED ME TO SEE ANY BAD REVIEWS AT ALL, BUT I GUESS YOU CAN'T PLEASE EVERYONE. I THINK SOME THINGS YOU HAVE TO TRY FOR YOURSELF AND I SUGGEST YOU TRY THIS PLACE THE NEXT TIME YOU GO OUT TO DINNER ESPECIALLY ON MONDAY WHEN THEIR ENTIRE WINE LIST IS A 1/3RD OFF!! Great steaks 8/23/2010

I can't understand some of the awful reviews Clubhouse has received. Every time I have gone there, the food has been excellent, as has the service. I can't say I've ordered many different things from the menu since when I go, I usually get the filet mignon, a side (usually spinach), sometimes the soup, a glass of wine. But, I've never been disappointed at all. I've gone to Peter Luger's, The Palm and other reputable steak houses in the city and I've always found Clubhouse to be the best. Of course, if you go to a steakhouse, you have to expect to pay more than a night out at Applebee's but I've never left disappointed in the meal/service or had any problems. I don't know about all the posters' comments about problems with discounts; it's a shame if there have been problems with that- just don't offer them then, or honor them appropriately- but I can't comment on that since that type of situation never happened to me. But I will always look forward to a night out at Clubhouse! more

Huntington's Hidden Gem 1/21/2010

This place gets it right. Cozy, Romantic atmosphere and very attentive service. Our favorites were the marinated cowboy steak and the lobster tails, plus tasty sides. They also have a great, affordable wine selection. We had a great experience and will definitely go back! Pros: Great Food & Winelist Cons: None more

The little place that does! 12/15/2009

Known for it's steaks, I had an excellent rare tuna steak recently crusted with sesame served with a tropical drizzle...delicious. My companion enjoyed thier marinated steak and our bottle of wine on that Monday was 1/3 off. Small, comfortable and cozy, and great food. What happened? 7/16/2009

Back in 2007 everything was just fine. WHAT HAPPENED? My guess is the economic downturn has had an impact here. I too was a bit disappointed after my coupon was denied ? now I see I am not alone. But the big problem was the quality of the beef has fallen way off, and my server did get a little snippy with me when I said something. Reviewers are right 6/16/2009

I read the reviews of this place here before my visit. Most of it sounded good but the recent reviews had me wondering about this places coupon policy and servers. My husband and I both had an appetizer, the 36 dollar prime filet, and one of the better bottles of wine. I presented the coupon before dessert ? ?Oh sorry ?.bla bla blaa.? What a shame, place was otherwise OK, but the other reviewers were quite right, waitress treated us like low lifes after presenting a coupon, major attitude problem. The discount coupon is indeed just a come-on. But I do not like to lose. In the end I got my 15 percent ?. I was the 2 dollar and change tip. Remember me now? Hook, Line, and Stinker 6/2/2009

Only one thing wrong with this place, and in this day and age, that?s enough. The discount coupon is a come-on, a fraud to use an unkind word. Our waitress said that one of the 4 people at the table had the special, so we could not use it ? fine, the other 3 people want a separate check ? ?Oh it?s per table so no good.? PLEASE, What next? I would have continued arguing, but at that point I would have expected her to tell me that we could not use the coupon because we were not wearing pink, good grief! Horrible waitress not worth the money. 2/3/2009

The food was not bad I got the t bone and it was tuff. My wife got the surf and turf and liked it. The costomer service was terrible. The waitress was rude and when I told her we had a problem getting the $15 cupon that they advertise on the web site she rolled her eyes and had an attitude for the rest of the night. The manager was no help when i explained the problem to him but my wife and I were determined to have a good night because we have 4 children and do not get to go to eat very often. We enjoyed our appitizer even though they brought out the wrong appitizer for me. The waitress did not come around once to see if the food was good or to see if we needed any more drinks. When we finished our dinner the waitress did a drive by with the desert menu. Needless to say I would rcommend one of the many other steakhouses on Long Iland before you bother to go to the Clubhouse were their motto should be it was your privlage to eat at our establishment. I HAVE BEEN TO ALL THE BEST STEAK HOUSES AND LET ME TELL YOU THIS ONE WAS THE BEST. I really want to say that everything was great, from being seated to getting our drinks quickly, to the food preparation. it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and will definitely go back again and again! Worst Service and serious problems with food 10/14/2007

It's sad that I have to write such a negative review but I feel I must. Hopefully they will learn from my experience and feedback. I am a foodie and experienced restaurant patron. Here's a list of the things that went wrong: Attended by 4 different servers - created confusion. Our primary server was very pleasant and earnest but a newbie and it showed. Management should have trained her more before putting her on. Not her fault. Specifically asked for the meal to be paced out slowly as we were looking forward to savoring each course and their wine list (more $$ for them!). The mozzarella garlic bread pre-appetizer came out with the appetizers. No room on the table for it with the presentation (large plate). Drink service/wine ordering was delayed. Entrees were delivered with appetizers still on the table. Porterhouse steaks were flavorless and tough (though cooked right - medium rare). Sauteed mushrooms were like wood and inedible. Sauteed onions were sloppy - some cooked soft, some not and tough cut ends were not discarded. Also not much flavor. Baked potato was small, steamed and limp. Twice-baked potato was bland and obvioulsy not house-made (I hope not) and was a tiny, half serving. The creamed spinach - it was obvious that they used frozen spinach and mixed it with canned cream of chicken soup. Lastly, the duck was so overcooked it was 90% inedible. consistancy is the word for this place, whether cocktails or wines, light bite to full blown steaks, it's great. 3/8/2007

this restaurant has been around for a long time, aside from a recent interior decor change it's consistanly the same as many years ago. great service from staff that sticks around for more than a few months (meaning you get remembered and a good bartender remembers your favorite drink). the menu reflects mostly beef but also does a fine job with buffalo, game, seafood and in particular the sauces paired with these foods. more
