Bad Experience 5/31/2011

I do not recommend the doctors or midwives of this practice if you are pregnant. There is no individualized care, it's like a factory, in and out. Too many providers under one roof plus unprofessional support staff. Keep Looking! more

I was very disappointed with my experience at SSWH. My first visit I was greated by a seemingly friendly receptionist that had something nasty to say about every patient she delt with in person and on the phone in front of the entire waitng room. My experience in reception truly set the tenor of the rest of my time at SSWH. I was seen by mostly midwives that were capable but lacking in bedside manner. Early in my pregnancy I had a sudden stop in all my pregnancy symptoms and I became anxious due to a previous miscarriage. After calling the office to discuss my concerns and schedule an ultrasound I got off the phone feeling angry and almost ashamed because the nurse I spoke to was obviously amused that I would have such unfounded worries. When I went in for my ultrasound the same NP spoke to me in the most condescending tone and was almost mocking me with her questions. Last but certainly no least was the lack of follow up. I only had a few minor problems but it seemed like I was truly being a bother when I asked about options and there was never any follow up to address the problems. At 30 weeks I decided that I was not willing to continue my prenatal care with SSWH much less deliver with them and left the practice. I have only had one appointment with my new practice but I already feel 100% that I not only made the right decision but that I wasnt just being overly sensitive or needy. The staff at my new practice is amazing and everything I could want. I had more time with my midwife in that inital appointment than I had with all my appointments combined at SSWH. So ladies if you feel like there is better out there, there probably is. more

Disappointing experience 1/6/2011

I, too, was very disappointed with the care I received. My very first visit, I was kept waiting for over an hour, with no explanation or apology. I was scolded because a pre-existing condition was not noted in my chart, despite telling 2 doctors and 3 nurses about the condition. I raised concerns throughout my pregnancy (regular, timeable contractions at 33 weeks, pain, size of baby) and every concern was dismissed by whatever mildly annoyed doctor saw me that day. I ended up delivering a very large, premature baby, one day after I was told that I would not go into labor for at least 6 weeks. Dr Cloherty sighed heavily when asked such terrible questions as, ""Did I tear? How many stitches?"" and barely spoke to me during or after the delivery. All postpartum concerns were dismissed. Over a year later, I still have not healed, but I finally found a provider that LISTENS to me and ADDRESSES my concerns. more

Concerns ignored 12/2/2009

I am very dissappointed with the level of care. They are fine for healthy ordinary annual exams, but I had an issue that concerned abnormal hormone levels(necessarly for conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy). I did not feel listened to, I never got to speak to the same person twice and so I was always repeating myself. They never even checked my hormone levels...even though I repeatedly asked them to..they only checked my iron! Pros: Most are pleasant Cons: Concerns not addressed more

I've been a patient at SSWH for a few years and found that they offer extrodinary care. The doctors are all fantastic and they take the time to establish a relationship with their patients. I elected to be seen by the doctors during my pregnancy and never felt pushed into seeing the nurse/midwifes. I developed complications during my pregnancy but I never had any concerns or fears because of the incredible medical care that I received. I highly recommend this practice to any woman. Pros: Wonderful doctors, nurses & support staff more

not impressed 9/8/2008

The doctors at this practice seemed nice, but my vet spends more time with my dog than they did with me. Also I was pressured into seeing a midwife for my prenatal care when I had expressed that I wanted my baby to be delivered by a doctor. Being a nurse myself I was surprised at how much of the staff talked down to me and tried to make me feel stupid. Nonetheless I switched practices. more
