Best Kept Secret in Salem 11/20/2011

I come frequently to Salem to visit family members. Each time I stay at the Clipper Ship Inn. The service is consistent. Staff is very helful and the rooms are super clean. The prices are budget friendly. Great restaurants are located across the street. Easy walk to area attractions. Already booked my room for the December holidays. more

Will return myself if I am ever in the area! 4/14/2011

I have just returned from a road trip through New England. Salem was our first stop and I have to tell you that this motel is getting a BAD RAP! During the trip I stayed at 2 other well reviewed places, one in New Hampshire (Spalding Inn-Whitefield) and the other in Maine (Friendship Inn-Old Orchard Beach) and this was more roomy, cleaner, and had more amenities overall. The owner was so helpful-she even called me in my room to give me a short cut to Gloucester to go to Cape Ann Whale Watch (highly recommended trip). My coffee pot was on the fritz and she quickly delivered a new one to my room personally. She also recommended several restaurants that gave discounts to motel guests. She also gave me a better route back to Philadelphia to bypass all of the Boston traffic. NOT A WICKED WITCH-MORE LIKE GLENDA THE GOOD WITCH. It is not luxurious by any means but it is clean, roomy, and the staff are more than accommodating. My only complaints would be that a TV needs to be added to the living room with more channels and WIFI should be available. If those 2 things were offered this would be a frugal travellers paradise. Be realistic in your expectations and you will not be disappointed-I would recommend this motel to anyone and will return myself if I am ever in the area! more

Can't wait 4/12/2011

We visit our family in Salem every year and have used clipper ship Inn. The accomodations are fine. It is easy to get to all attractions, and has the best rates in the city. I have read all the bad reviews and can honestly say that it is all BULL. The people that complain are not being fair. We know it is not the Waldorf Astoria, but it is clean and there are no bed bugs. The management have always been courtious. I will be staying again for 4 nights this year. Can't wait. more

Have a great time!! 4/8/2011

Spent 3 nights.Room was clean and close to area attractions.Pet friendly (love the cats) Staff was friendly and informative.Would stay there again. Now for the town itself. They have unusual hours.Nothing starts till 10:00 am and closes at 5:00.Just not enough time for shopping and museums. So extend your stay to get it all in. Have a great time!! more

Very clean 3/24/2011

I have an allergy to perfume, and the staff is very understanding, making sure that the cleaning products they use in our room are unscented. We also prefer minimal housekeeping for the same reason, and have never had any trouble getting exactly what we need in the way of towels, etc., without more than we want while we're there. The rooms are always very clean and nice when we arrive, too. more

Will return!! 3/10/2011

I have stayed at the Clipper Ship Inn in the past. I will continue to stay here when I return to the area. Rooms are clean and service is still top notch. Employees are courteous and professional. more

It was such a nice change 2/22/2011

The room was very big, with a nice area for dining - lots of room around the beds. The bedding in our room was the best - deep red, the towells were deep red as well. It was such a nice change from the usual flowery bedspreads more

The Clipper Ship Inn is a great place 2/16/2011

The Clipper Ship Inn is a great place to stay for those who want to spend their hard earned dollars on having fun rather than a place to sleep. The staff was friendly and well informed about restaurants and attractions. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. more

We were very pleased with our suite at the Clipper Inn 2/11/2011

We were very pleased with our suite at the Clipper Inn. We mistakenly though it would be an efficiency and didn't bring utensils to feed our dog Fred, but the staff, Wanda, gave us plates and spoons which helped a great deal. more

great location & customer service 2/11/2011

I've worked on a Continental Airlines for 6 years & come to Salem twice a year & always enjoy my stay at the Clippership Inn & always recommened my coworkers to staying at the Clippership because of the great location & customer service. You could walk into town but after the long day of sight seeing, I recommend taking a cab back. The rooms are great & the staff are always friendly & helpful. more

The Clipper Ship Inn is a beautiful motel 2/9/2011

The Clipper Ship Inn is a beautiful motel - made of bricks. The brickwork is great - lots of little details that you don't notice at first. The staff were extremely helpful - answering a lot of questions, and providing maps, brochures, magazines and event schedules. more

Its almost a 15 min walk to downtowm 2/3/2011

Very clean, we got the family suite even thou its was just the two of us and was very roomy. The staff was accommodating-we were traveling with a car motorcycle and trailer they switch our room so we could be on the bottom floor on the end with our vehicles. Mini mart-liquor store-resturants very close. Its almost a 15 min walk to downtowm Salem which wasn't bad if you don't mind walking. And can't forget Salem and Queenie the welcome commitee which are the cats who live there :) more

The front desk staff have always been very helpful 1/26/2011

The front desk staff have always been very helpful, and know the area well. If you don't want to walk to town, they can recommend a cab, or will call one for you. the rooms are clean, the beds have good mattresses, the heaters/ac units always work, and they're very costume friendly. The suites have refrigerators and microwaves, which are useful too. And they've just put in wifi (get the password from the front desk) which is the icing on a very satisfactory cake. more

Had a great time 12/29/2010

I stayed here from July 9th to July 13th and had a great time. The staff was really nice and very helpful. They always made sure everything was ok and we were happy. They also gave us ideas of things we need to see and places to go eat at. This place is about 1/2 hour walking into town. I did it everyday with my mother. If you want to take a taxi you can for 6$. The rooms were very clean and they also had 2 cats when you came in, so I felt like I was home. I am playing to go back to Salem and I will stay there again more

Everything you need 12/27/2010

For years I've been trying to find an affordable place to stay in Salem, Mass. during the month of October. The Clipper Ship Inn is it! It is not luxurious, but it has everything you need, is clean, and close to all the Salem attractions. I (secretly) hope no one finds out! more
