I should have known when it took 3 calls to finally get someone to schedule a railings estimate. I signed the contract saying that I needed the railings ASAP even thought the contract states it could be 3 to 5 weeks. I called every week for status and when I did get someone which was rare they informed me they were on schedule. Well 5 weeks later I get a call saying that they don't have the material and it will be another 2 weeks.These were plain ordinary railings. I asked for my deposit back but they said that it was non refundable. I wrote a email letter to the owner Clem Carfano, no response. Must have called the company 20 times the next 2 week and got the run around from the office staff ( Hold on I'll see if he is in, Clem is on the phone, out to lunch in the shop, in meeting, will be in at 11:00, went home at 2:00) etc. When I finally did get to speak to him it was useless he was not concerned about customer satisfaction at all. Clem's finally addressing issue 11/8/2011

I'm in the same boat as Robert D. They installed blue stone steps and iron handrails and within months, the stones cracked where the holes were drilled. Clem's blamed this on the cement that they've contracted out to and are in the process of suing them. They WILL NOT stand behind their work and fix the issue unless they win the lawsuit against the cement company. Based on this experience I cannot recommend Clem's for anything.\r \r UPDATE: Nov. 17, 2011, 9:00AM - The severe fall snowstorm finally cracked apart the bluestones into pieces at certatin areas. After numerous calls to Clem's, they dispatched a crew to repair as of writing. Will update review once they have finished.\r \r UPDATE: Nov. 17, 2011, 1:30PM - So the crew that came were here just to replace the bluestones. Now I'll have to wait for Clem's to come and re-install the handrails next week. I've upgraded the rating to Satisfactory (3 stars). Terrible results! No support! 4/12/2011

I bought and had new fencing installed by CLEMS on my brand new patio and steps last fall. Within a few weeks, everywhere CLEMS had drilled through the limestone was cracked and broken. ALL drill holes had caused the limestone to break. Now the job needs to be redone. I called and was told I am not the only customer in this situation. CLEMS has blamed the cement they used while installing the railing and are supposedly suing the cement company. I am told the lawsuit will take years. They told me to hire and pay AGAIN for a company to fix it and they will reimburse me IF they win the lawsuit! In the meantime, they are still out there drumming up new business while I MAYBE will get reimbursed!? In a few YEARS? Do I live with broken steps for the next few years??? I guess HAVING insurance doesn't mean CLEMS will ever USE insurance! What a crock! I am now planning on suing CLEMS! All this aggravation and still no resolution. DON'T USE CLEMS! They don't support you after the job is done! more
