Bring your own seat covers! 10/2/2009

I would imagine that this place was once a really nice restaurant. The food was just okay and nothing to write home about and the wine selection left a lot to be desired. The biggest turn-off about this place was the restrooms. I don't think I have ever been in a more disgusting bathroom (other than a gas station) in my life. I wanted to take a shower when I got home. There are too many good seafood places available to waste your time on this place. Pros: Accessible parking Cons: Dirty more

Great Crab but only somewhat slow so it is great for dinner 9/5/2008

I really liked the place over all. Just a bit on the slow side for service. Food took about twenty minutes but definately worth the wait. Pros: Good food Cons: Slow to serve more

Great seafood standby 11/23/2007

When I want a great seafood dinner, I will normally force my husband to drive to Redondo Beach. But, if I'm looking for good and consistent seafood, we'll head to Clancy's every time. I'm not the biggest fan of their New England Clam Chowder...but I'm always up for freshly shucked oysters on the 1/2 shell and steamed king crab legs with clarified butter for dipping. This restaurant (and especially the bar) is always crowded. If you can get there for an early evening they have early dining discounts. Also, earlier this year they started recurring weekly specials for dinner. My husband enjoys Fried Shrimp Night...Tuesdays, I believe. The waitstaff here is usually friendly, accommodating and courteous. On a busy night, parking is scarce, even when using the public lot across the street. Pros: friendly staff Cons: parking can be scarce more

good fresh fish 3/5/2007

good place to eat. food was good fresh fresh. price is good not overly pricey but not cheap either. i think that you pay a little more than what you get but not by much. Pros: fresh fish, good service Cons: go early or else no parking more

Fresh seafood, great value 11/17/2006

Clancy's is a great restaurant for lunch and dinner. They have really yummy clam chowder (New England style) and lobster bisque. At dinner, they serve these fried bread rolls that are highly addicting. Make sure you save room for your entree though. I would recommend the salmon, fried shrimp or fish and chips, and their pasta specials. They also have daily specials for a discounted price. Be sure to check out their website before going. They have early bird prices, but you have to be seated between 5:00 and 5:15 pm on weekdays. Pros: Fresh seafood, great early bird specials Cons: Sawdust on the floor.... I know it's authentic, but I still don't like more

our neighborhood restaurant 9/9/2006

Clancy's is great! Ever since we moved to Glendale this has become our weekly spot! Good beer list and they make a perfect dirty martini!!! The oyster selection is VERY limited but always fresh! Pros: read review Cons: lack of oyster choices more

Gladstones atmosphere...better food...better value 8/16/2006

Here is another restaurant i've been going to since I was a kid. I love just picking something from their specials...i've never been disappointed. Also, it's just great to have oysters and a beer here. The fish and chips are really good too! more

Great place for Fresh Seafood and Drinks 4/30/2006

The sports bar at Clancy's is the highlight here. Ten plus TVs showing all of the big games. A huge beautiful bar with giant whale bones as a centerpiece. Clacny's serves some tremendous dishes, Chilean Seabass with potato crusting is to die for. The make good strong drinks and have a great staff. If you are a seafood and a sports fan this the place to be. Try to grab a spot at the bar, as the bartenders are down to earth true sports fans. It gets full quickly so show up early. The servers there get spread a little thin with the ibg crowds, but the food is always top notch. Pros: Bartenders, Great Food, Service Cons: Crowded, close early more

Reminds Me Of East Coast Fish Restaurants 6/9/2005

Clancys is A-OK. A BIG menu, with lots of good food. The fish is always fresh. The drinks are always well-poured. The servers are usually friendly and attentive. Actually, Im heading over there right now. more

It's ok 11/1/2004

For appetizers, we had the oyster shooter which was good, the lobster bisque was average (too much cream). I had the crab cakes which is below average and my girlfriend had mahi mahi which was too salty. probably won't go back Pros: good service more

Fabulous Find in Glendale! 8/18/2004

A friend told me I should check this place out, and I've fallen in love! Seafood is fresh, preparation is excellent, prices are reasonable, service has always been great, and there is plenty of parking in their lot right behind the building. What more do you want? Not pretentious at all, very laid back. I highly recommend the Lobster Bisque with whatever meal you choose. If you're just looking for a laid back bar, check this place out, too. Plenty of TVs to watch the games (Monday Night Football is big, as are Sundays, with several nice new flat screens), and the bartenders are all really cool. Pros: Laid back bar, tons of parking, excellent food more

Fresh fish, poor execution 11/14/2003

First off, the fish is fresh, which is very important to me, but all of the execution was off. The deep fried bread is tasty I guess but deep fried bread just seems wrong. The cedar plank salmon glaze was way too sugary, crabcakes were salty and undercooked too. The ahi sushi roll was way too rich with excessive amounts of mayonaise. It would appear that they tend to go overboard culinarily, except with the side vegetables, which were simple and quite tasty. Pros: fresh fish, good vege sides Cons: atmosphere, overwrought food, service more

Fun dining... 6/12/2002

Sawdust on the floor...crabs & lobsters in the tank...this place is laid-back and fun. Its a very relaxed environment. The bar area is always packed, and the food in the restaurant is yummy. The prices are really reasonable, and I think this would be a great place to host a dinner get together. Looks like they've improved their dining since April. more

Surprised to read prior review 6/4/2002

The person that gave Clancy's a ""3"" must have been there on a particularly bad night, as I have never found it to be greasy or too expensive. Just last week I ordered the ""Seafood Sauté"" which consisted of crab, giant shrimp and scallops over an oversized portion of fettuccini with cream sauce. At a cost of $17.00 it wasn't a bad deal -I took enough pasta home for two more meals. But my favorite trip to Clancy's is on a weekend afternoon. I sit in the bar area to watch ""the game"" (it doesn't really matter what game it is), and then proceed to order a pint of cold beer, an appetizer of popcorn shrimp (the remoulade is scrumptious) and a Caesar salad. more
