Disappointing 9/29/2011

After positive experiences at other Claim Jumper restaurants, we were looking forward to a nice dinner. I ordered the rotisserie chicken, and it was so dry that it wasn't really edible. After delivering our food, our waitress disappeared for the next 30 minutes. Our drinks sat empty, and I was left with only plain mashed potatoes and overcooked vegetables for dinner. When our waitress finally returned, she did not ask how the food was, just if I needed a box. I said no to the box, and before I could finish speaking and complain about the chicken, she was gone to get the check. We paid and left disgusted. The service was horrible - even when we tried to get attention from other servers, we were simply ignored. Nobody there smiled - they all looked miserable and it was felt throughout the restaurant. We will definitely not return. more

FOOD POISONING at CHART HOUSE TAHOE!!! 8/11/2011

BEWARE-FOOD POISONING at CHART HOUSE TAHOE!!! On July 26, 2011 my 2 daughters and I went to the Chart House-Tahoe for my birthday dinner. I hadn't seen them for several days so there are no other common factors at play here. One daughter ate only what she ordered and was fine. The other daughter and I shared a shrimp cocktail, stuffed mushrooms(with crab), scallops, and key lime pie. We both woke up at 4-5 AM with nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, alternating chills & sweats, and completely achy body...JUST TERRIBLE! This lasted for 2 full days. Clearly this is food poisoning, comparable to the worst flu I've ever experienced. It was not until 5 day later that we were both back to feeling completely well. I am a 26 year Tahoe resident and have been to the Chart House numerous times. After this horrible experience I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN. I called and they refused to refund the $150 I spent on this unsanitary, unhealthy meal. Nice! BEWARE-BEWARE-BEWARE! STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESTAURANT! more

not Attentive 2/25/2009

No desserts that are no sugar added. Moderate food quality. Way too big of servings. (An appetizer could feed 3 people for their meal) expensive for the kind of food served. Servers were inattentive. My non diabetic party members (all childern) were asked about dessert in front of several (known to the servers) Diabetic (adults in my party) members. Pros: lots of food Cons: service, price, food quality, Variety of food more

Good Food, Friendly Atmosphere, Pleasant Service 7/30/2007

I'm not usually a big fan of chain resaurants, so my recent visit to Reno's Claim Jumper was a pleasant surprise. We went on a Saturday night and were seated immedately. The server quickly took our drink orders and had water on the table in the first 5 minutes. Pros: Easy parking, good service, good food more

Excellent value and dinner! 3/20/2007

The food here is alwasy fantastic! And you'll never leave hungry - the portions are enormous! The service is friendly and prompt. The ambiance is fun, but not over the top! In a restaurant wasteland like Reno, I highly recommended it! Oh, and the Widow Maker Burger is out of this world! Pros: The food is always great! Cons: The wait can be a while - make reservations! more

Soooo Much Foood!!!! 11/19/2006

The portions are enormous, and more than one human being could possibly eat in one sitting. The service can be a little irritating, especially when someone mentions the word ""Birthday."" They sing, and not very well. Pros: The portions are ENORMOUS!!!! Cons: I over eat when ever I go. more

never thought franchised food could rock so hard 10/25/2006

I don't usually fall over myself to brag on these franchised dinner houses. They often make me feel like part of a herd of cattle, and more times than not the food is a bunch of frozen, microwaved Soylent Green that came straight off of the Sysco truck. Claim Jumpers has given me faith in the franchised restaurant again. Portions are wildly huge: consistantly tasty and well prepared. The drink list is massive and very creative - and the drinks aren't as watered down with nauseating saccherine mixers (made with 10 % fruit juice!!) Wait staff is truly a well oiled machine and full of personality. Eat at claim jumpers when you are starving for a good old fashioned gluttonous and satisfying kind of grub. Recommended: chicken and buttermilk biscuits. Not recommended: California Roll appetizer. Pros: huge tasty homestyle portions Cons: massive weight gain more

Impressive service. 9/24/2006

I wanted to drop my 2 cents in because of the service, alone. The food here is good, it's a higher-quality chain steakhouse akin to Ruth Chris'; nothing's surprising, but everything is solid. The three times I have gone, though, the service is what has stood out to me as making this place worth coming back to. Once, my steak was overcooked, and they immediately sent out a different one with an actual new side, too. Once, our appetizer arrived only a minute or two before our entrees, and they took it off the bill. The third time, nothing went wrong, but the staff was still discreet, friendly, and efficient. It's always crowded, but the dinner ambience is fairly good- high booths block out much of the noise and view of other diners, and the lights are somewhat dim. Definitely recommended! Pros: Great steak, amazing service. Cons: None. more
