I just got my hair cut here, and I was really disappointed after reading all of these great reviews. The person who cut my hair seemed like she was in a really big hurry, and desp...

Best Facials By Alex!!! 3/8/2007

I have been getting facials for years, but never have I had someone take such great care of my skin. Alex not only provides amazing facials, she actually cares about improving the quality and appearance of my skin. She never forces products, but rather suggests key items to help with problem areas. I have been so impressed with my skin since going to her and have received almost daily compliments on my ""glowing skin"". Just recently Alex waxed my eyebrows for the first time, and I did not even make it to my car before someone complimented me on them. I cannot recommend her enough!!! Pros: Evening appointments, Parking and Great Facials more

My favorite place 3/6/2007

I found this place through a friend's recommendation, and have been going back ever since. Miki does a fantastic job every time, and the people there are warm and professional - go! You will be glad you did. more

Oh Miki, you're so fine! 3/3/2007

On a sunny weekend afternoon with light traffic, there is nothing better than a car ride to Chrome for a good shampoo and a killer layered cut from Mikella. A great stylist, make up guru, and one hell of a conversationalist. Chrome is an airy, relaxed space with plenty of sleek style. Very roomy stations, good music and a great, professional staff. I hear chihuahuas are welcomed, too! ;) Pros: Nearby lunch places, Starbucks and Robeks. Good shopping, too. Cons: Parking is at a premium in the area, but that's Culver City for you! Park across the street. more

Keenan is now my Stylist !!! 2/25/2007

I have been in LA for 3 years and have had the worst luck finding a stylist who could give me the kind of highlights I wanted. I am Japanese and have had some bad color jobs done on my hair and then I have to go through the process of either coloring it over or trying to let it grow out. I came to Chrome for a consultation with Keenan and he explained different choices to me and listened to what it was that I wanted for my hair color and style. The other thing that I could never find in a hair stylist was someone to take my appointment in the evening. Keenan took my appointment at 8:00pm and never rushed me or made me feel uncomfortable. I love my hair now. I love the cut and color he did and would recommend him to anybody that has had bad hair drama. He definitely put my mind at ease. My sister and mom are now his clients as well.\r \r DAWN Pros: Sushi next door and Nail Salon. . . Spa in salon for waxing and facails. Cons: not visible more

Kenya Rocks!!! 2/12/2007

I was referred to Kenya by the Queen Bee (who couldn't fit me in for an emergency appt)...and was I glad I went to her! Not only did Kenya put me at ease right away...she genuinely cared for my well being. When I spoke to her on the phone, she gave me instructions for pre-waxing prep...and upon meeting her, she calmed my nerves about getting my first Brazillian and got right to it. It wasn't as bad as I thought at all. It wasn't embarrassing or uncomfortable. Kenya is very professional and answered all the questions I had in mind. She made the experience very pleasant and I will be referring all my friends (esp ones who got bad waxes before) to Chrome to meet Kenya! Pros: Quick, professional, clean more

First Timers: Brazilian Wax here! 2/8/2007

Okay, so, you want to attempt this thing called the ""Brazilian Wax."" You have heard about it in magazines and though the thought of the pain scares you away, you've mustered up enough courage to try it out. And then you think... well, who would I go to? Chrome Salon is the place you should go. Kenya makes you feel so at ease you don't even seem to mind the flashes of pain here and there. This is a matter-a-fact beauty treatment. And boy-- a day later... you certainly do feel beautiful.. sort of like, wearing a skirt with no underwear beautiful. I highly recommend Kenya at Chrome she is awesome! more

Kenya is truly a gift to your skin! 2/8/2007

Having been hooked on the brazilians of her mentor Jodi Shays, my first experience with Kenya was a dream (if that is possible when getting one's face and legs waxed). We began almost six months ago and I've been coming to her at regular intervals ever since. Her gift is more than a winning technique. It's the care and concern she brings to each appointment. If you're having a bad skin day, she wants to know what's going on so that she can adjust her technique to suit the situation. My skin is painfully delicate and we've been honing the techniques just right for me. I have been getting my face (checks, lip, brows and chin) waxed for almost two decades so I have been to my share of salons and spas across the country. My time with Kenya has been the most rewarding because her enthusiasm for skin care has made me more attuned to my own. I would highly recommend her to anyone, those looking for a new aesthetician or simply curious about getting waxed for the first time. She is gentle and takes her time to make sure your needs are met. She will whip up some amazing concoction or other for post skin care that'll have you ready for a close up, fresh from the salon. Believe me. I am one of her hard partying clients and I have gone from her waxing bed out for a night on the town and no one has been the wiser. You simply cannot go wrong with Kenya for waxing, facials (she's amazing for after bender skin rescue) and general skin care techniques. She will not disappoint. And don't get me started on how reasonably her services are priced. Give Kenya a try. You will love her as much as the rest of her clients do! Pros: Skillful, attentive and personalized service, reasonably priced more

Fabulous hair on a budget!!! 2/1/2007

Having just moved from NYC, I have seen my share of over-priced salons with obnoxious, trendy ""stylists"" who charge WAY too much for a bad dye job and a 'chopped' hair style. They ""fit you in when they can"", make you feel like it is a 'privilege' to be worked on by ""one of the top stylists in the city' and you walk out $300 less in your wallet. \r \r Chrome is quite the OPPOSITE!! I called on a Thurs, got the last appointment on Saturday (7pm) and walked out of there in under 2 hours with new roots and a cut for not even half of what I paid in NY. Roger was patient, chill, not ""salesy"" and honest about what he thought I needed to do with my hair. I am hooked....you should be too.\r \r Pros: quick, convenient, reasonably priced, family-run, hip and funky more

Kenya is not just an African country but an amazing facialist! 1/31/2007

Ok...so as a woman in her forties who has lived in about 15 US cities, I've been through any number of facialists, hairstylists, dermatologists, you name it. And I cannot remember one of their names because they were good but not memorable. I met Kenya through a friend of mine who visits her for waxing services and loves, loves, loves her. That same friend gave me a gift certificate for Xmas for a facial. Money's been a bit tight and it had been about 3 years since my last facial :( So to say I was looking forward to this one is an understatement! Kenya did not disappoint. Great product knowledge, great technique, great personality. She took the time to explain what she was using and why and tailors her services to the individuals needs. You know the kind of facials you've had where you feel like the person learned the routine, learned exactly what strokes to use when and never, ever modifies anything?! That is SOOOO not Kenya. So, run, do not walk to all of sudden cool Culver City and visit Kenya. Your skin will thank you for it! Pros: In my town, locally owned, free parking nearby, clean and pretty space Cons: can't think of one more

Waxing with Kenya...Do it! 1/10/2007

Hey guys (or gals) - if you?re looking for a Braziliazn Wax, look no further. Pick up the phone and call Kenya @ Chrome Salon & Spa. After years and years of body shaving I finally decided to take the plunge on a Full Leg and Brazilian Wax. As a first-timer I was a bit apprehensive, Kenya put me at ease in about 2 minutes flat. She is complete professional and has a totally calming personality. Her method of waxing was ""nearly"" pain free and very efficient.\r \r As a former professional athlete I visit the gym regular basis. Depending on the season, I snow ski, mountain bike, hike, trail run, swim, play tennis and basketball. If you're a serious athlete of any kind, surfer, scuba diver, cyclist, rock climber, wrestler, triathlete or participate in any combination of sports, you absolutely need to experience the overall benefits and the feeling of being hair free. Trust me, you won't go back to stubble and itching or the pinching and pulling of hair when you pull on or take off any tight gear specific to your sport. If the activity creates friction to the skin and/or body hair - believe me, wax it off. (Think wetsuits or anything that has a second skin fit like Under Armour)\r \r Kenya turns the art of waxing into a near spa-like treatment. The atmosphere at Chrome Salon is clean, comfortable and relaxing. My appointment started right on time, no hidden costs and zero sales pressure of any kind. I recommend her to anyone! more

I refer all of my clients here! 12/3/2006

I own a salon and day spa in Chicago, and have been referring my clients to Roger and Melinda at Chrome salon for three years. My clientele are all thrilled with the quality of work at the salon, and now have options when they are in California. Roger is incredibly talented, technically superior, and on top of all of the latest trends. We share ideas, discriminate all new products, and band together on killer techniques. Melinda is one of the most creative designers I have ever met, on top of doing some of the most beautiful, believable extensions I have ever seen. Great talent is hard to find, I would refer anyone to Chrome! more

Fab Facials in Culver City 11/7/2006

Wow. Kenya, the esthetician-in-residence there rocks! Got a customized facial there today that totally changed both the way I look AND feel! She has great skin know-how (a total pro)and made me forget the lame facials I've had at other ""spas"" in LA. Now I'm a born-again facial convert and Chrome Spa devotee! Pros: cozy atmosphere and personal attention to the max Cons: Not open :( on Sundays more

Great cuts 11/1/2006

Berit does a great job with my excessively thick hair--she makes it entirely manageable, and has given me great suggestions about how to take care of it at home. I'm really pleased with the work she does, and the salon is convenient and attractive (if a bit loud, even when not busy). more

I got what I never thought was possible! Thank you!! 10/26/2006

After having a botched up color job from My Bella Color Salon in Burbank (they colored the roots dark and unevenly bleached the ends to an awful yellow), I went to this salon to help me at least put some shine back in my hair and bring it back to an acceptable color. I showed Roger the color I was trying to accomplish and thought it was too late for it. I left his salon so happy and looking fantastic!! I never thought it was possible to get my hair a sandy color because every other hair color turns my hair brassy. I got exactly what I wanted!! Thank you Chrome and Roger. Great Salon, great service, wonderful results. more
