I've been to Christos a few times now and I've loved it everytime. I tried it out when I first moved to NYC because I live extremely close by. The staff was incredibly nice and they even gave me a welcome-to -the-neighborhood surprise dessert which was AMAZING. The dessert was a chocolate cake with a melted center and I have had similar ""volcano"" cakes in other restaurants but this one was by far the best! The interior is beautiful and the ambiance is great, nice for a romantic date or even just dinner with the family. Great wine list and seafood. Try the fillo-wrapped oysters, they are my favorite! Now as for the steaks, they are beyond comparison. Excellent cuts cooked perfectly. Tenderloin is the only beef I will eat and I am very picky about it being overcooked. I will send it back without hesitation even if it is medium rare instead of rare but Christos always does it right and the steak is so delicious that you do not need a drop of the sauces available, which is how it should be! My Father is an expert on filet and this is his first stop every time he comes to visit Astoria! Try the Greek wines, the staff is knowledgeable and gave us excellent recommendations. The prices are not low, but this is a steakhouse so don't expect it to be cheap. \r
As far as the location, it is a few blocks from the train but if you take a car it is only a few dollars from the train and the neighborhood is nice and very safe. If you do some research, you will find that there are a lot of neat bars and lounges nearby. Also, the outdoor seating is very nice and you always feel as if you have privacy. Large groups work surprisingly well here, but I wouldn't bring any children. \r
I will continue to have dinner here for any occasion I can come up with as long as I live in NYC!!
Pros: Great Seafood, Extensive Wine List, Outdoor seating in warm weather
Cons: NONE!!
