The food is amazing, even more amazed when the bill arrives. The decor is a little overboard for my taste, dodging the muriad of plants and trees is a bit much but keeps the noise level down. Its a little tight in the seating, but worth it in the long run. Would definately recommend this restaurant. The Chicken (Pollo de Mole Pablano) is our favorite. more

Very average Mexican food.. but my goodness, the prices are low for a sit-down, dine-in, Cadillac serving Mexican restaurant. I love taking family here from Las Vegas. Las Vegas people always brag about their 99cent breakfasts and $5.00 prime rib dinners. Well - Orange County beats all with this incredible delicious generous Mexican cooking! The prices are great, service is good and there is a home style that does not require dressy dresses and high heels (I'll wear them any ways). We love Chili Pepper's. The atmosphere is very authentic - the food is great! I love the complimentary little appetizer & the dessert . I have been going here since I975. My kids grew up eating there and celebrating birthdays, etc. The service it great, the food good and the price is amazing. The atmosphere is fun and a bit silly. Alot of the same faces working there from day one. One of our favorite things are the soups. They make some of the most yummy interesting combinations. We always have to try them. The fish is great too! I stopped going for a while because I didn't care for their margarita's but they have a great one right now that they'll only serve 2 to you. this is my fave place to eat out. for $40 a family of four can eat, get drinks and have appeitzers. the look and decor is fun and silly, and the service is excellent. i have been coming here since 98, and i enjoy bringing my 5 and 2 yr old to eat. it's one of the few places that is NOT stressful to eat out with them. the salsa is amazing and fresh, and i love thier chile verde burritos. I am very perplexed with the reviews I've been reading about this restaurant. Quite frankly, this restaurant is not worthy of a second visit from me. From the get go, I was under the impression that the upcoming dining experience would not be satisfying. Judging by the plastic placards advertising spaghetti and meatballs and other ethnic dishes not typically associated with the genre of ""Mexican food"", I knew this restaurant was casting a fishing net to attract all types of taste buds. Poor experience began with being served the standard chips and salsa. Nothing wrong with that. It was expected and I looked forward to it.. What was not expected was the bland, watered salsa. The salsa had cubed ""nopales"" (cactus) and carrots. No salsa, no matter how authentic it claims to be, should have theses items in them. They didn't even bother putting some salt on the guacamole appetizer. That is the easiest thing to improve the taste of guacomle and they haven't figured that out. The margaritas we ordered were just a follow through of the salsa - bland. The restaurant was consistent. The steak and chicken tacos I ordered were tasteless, tough and terrible. I really don't know what some of the reviewers found appealing in the quality of the food for this restaurant. I am always looking for a new/old establishment to find some good tasting food. The Chili Pepper in Orange combines great food with exceptional service and at very reasonable prices. My family has been dining here for many years and the staff always makes us feel at home. They offer a wide variety of menu items and I recommend sampling one of the daily specials which are always sure to please. I've been dining here for many years, willing traveling the 20 miles from home to restaurant, especially on weekends when lunch comes with a huge plate of various fresh fruit. and the end of the meal is topped off by apple rolled in a small tortilla, lightly covered in sugar. Now that i moved 2500 miles away, it's the first place we head for when we arrive in Orange County, eating there 3-4 times in (7) days. more

Service is fab, the food is authentic and they keep it fresh by changing the menu based on time and day. Prices are unbelievably reasonable. I go all the time and Ive gone for lunch with coworkers, dinner with a date, brunch with friends or family. Great for birthdays! Atmosphere is nice for a romantic interlude or just fun with friends. Staff is friendly and helpful. Brunch on the weekends is yummy. Go once youll get hooked! more

i just went the yesterday with my 2 kids and mom. i was immediate drawn to the decor. it was very relaxing and i felt as if i was in another country:) The prices are sooo reasonable, and the kids were happy because the got a balloon and a desert at the end. i would recommend this restaurant for anyone lookin for a different dining experience and anyone that has children!!
