Children's Museum at La Habra

The La Habra Children's Museum is a great place for parents to take their children. The La Habra Children's Museum is a place for children to run and explore different types of experiments. It is a hands-on type of museum, so that the kids can have fun and learn. It is very cheap to get in, I believe somewhere in the of $4.00-$5.00/child. It is right next to a park, so you could make it a family outting at the museum and then have a picnic at the park afterwords. more

Your kids will love this place. There is so much for them to do...when you first arrive, you will have the choice of paying $5 a person (except 2 and under) or buying a membership. They have many different levels of membership, but they are all great deals, especially if you plan on going often. (depending on what membership you get, you can add 8-16 people to it!) We have it, so whenever we feel like going, we cruise over there. (they close early on Mondays). There are so many hands-on exhibits there! They can dig for dinosaur bones, pretend they are putting gas in a car, play in a pretend grocery store, "ride" on a real bus, take a spin on the merry go round, watch model trains go round and round a track, enter a full room of "stuffed" animals (a taxidermy room) where they can touch once live animals, dress up and act on a stage and more! My son loves the room that is geared towards preschoolers...they have lots of toys for younger kids. There is also a section that has a changing exhibit....I think it changes twice a year. You can also visit a craft room and make different crafts or their gift shop...with inexpensive little toys. The employees are nice, but thats about it. They also have a real train that you can go on and explore, but only during certain hours. more

This kids museum is housed in an old train depot and has a few areas devoted to trains, but much more of the museum is dedicated to helping children learn about the world around them through interactive exhibits. One room has a kid-sized working sound booth that controls a stage where they can perform, using the provided costumes. There is another large room with a working small carousel, a pretend grocery, a replica bus, and a special effects learning area. The younger set can romp around in the preschool room, where they have a "tree" for kids to climb or play under and an area with a play kitchen. There are more exhibits in this small museum and also a room to rent for birthday parties. more

This museum is a great starter museum for younger kids. My kids were a bit scared by the lifelike animals in the waiting area, but we weren't there for long. The prices were reasonable, and for $5.00 each, we got several good, entertaining hours out of this museum. My kids liked the dress up stage area, where the kids can try on various costumes, and can pretend to put on a show. There's an area to dig for dinosaur bones, and a bus to pretend to ride and drive. This is a great place to take your kids to introduce them to the idea of a museum. more

The La Habra Children's Museum is fun while educational. Tickets are $5 per person, with children under 2 are free. The museum features an outside area where children can imagine themselves in prehistoric times among the dinosaur garden. Inside, kids will find: an actual city bus to cimb in & explore. They might go for a ride in the small merry go round. (intended for toddlers) Or, dig for dinosaur bones in the red clay sand exhibit. They also have a whole room dedicated to a stage, with working mircophones for the show kids. The full backstage area houses an amazing waredrobe, and various musical instruments. My favorite room would be the toddler play area. It houses a giant tree and slide, plus endless seating and books to read. Lastly don't forget to visit the craft room, where the children make a different craft everyday. The staff is a volunteer staff, so usually they are teenagers. They are friendly and helpful. They also have a small gift shop, but it's easy avoidable if you have to. One safety recommendation: keep an eye on your kids. The exit doors (numberous) do not have alarms on them. Plus, they are easy to open. So, it is not advise to let you children wander the museum unattended. more
