We arrived early about 9:00 and talked to the lady at the registration desk and she asked if I was checking out. I told her I was actually checking in and she said the hotel was full the night before therefore we had to come back at 2:00 to check in. That was fine then I told her I had my day planned and asked if I could leave my car there. She said sure no problem I would have to register my car on a sheet and it would be okay. When I made the reservation the green line train looked about 2 blocks away. We walked to the green line and after about 2 blocks the neighborhood got bad. The two block walk was several blocks and we didn't feel safe. We got to the green line and went about our business. When we were on our way back we took the bus from the green line station. We checked in about 11:00 and I dealt with Angie and she was really nice and helpful. I asked here how far is the green line from the hotel and she said she didn't know but it is a good distance and she said they don't advise the customers to go that way I told her we walked it and she gave me a blank look and her eyes bugged out. I guess we got lucky. The hotel was nice Angie took good care of us gave us a nice room. The room had some wet spots on the carpet because it was raining and the window was leaking. The bathtub was real slow in draining. Other then that is was a nice clean place to stay. The restaurant on the property was good the hostess and waiter was real friendly and the food was good. If your going downtown I suggest parking near the airport or a train station in a safe neighborhood. The free parking is nice but it isn't worth the aggrvation more

Location! Service! The hotel is not new, but comfortable and value priced. It is very near four of the finest museums in the world, and also near to Navy Pier. Of special merit were the free-service van drivers - Ann, who drove us with great skill for four days, and John - who were very knowledgeable and accommodating. They got us there! The restaurant was an added bonus. We stayed six nights and will probably do it again. more

Good value for money in Chicago area. Pleasant walk to Hyde Park, Science Museum, University. Friendly multicultural staff. The food in the hotel cafe is not trendy, but perfectly fine, and the bar is a very happening place, full of local color. more

The hotel is just 10 minutes (by cab) away from McCormick Conference Center which makes it very attractive to everyone planning to attend a conference on a low budget. more

I was visiting on business and we stayed there because they have a shuttle. The shuttle driver John Brown assisted us numerous times during our stay. He made an extra effort to make sure everyone was comfortable and got to their destinations on time. I greatly appreciate having access to the shuttle during the conference. more

The staff was very courteous and the rooms were great. It was nice to be close to the University of Chicago. The room was not as dry as some hotels. more

I had the opportunity to stay at the Ramada in Chicago on St. Pats weekend, I had a food festival I was attending to help my friend with her Pine-Nut business, so this was a working weekend. The staff of this Inn were outstanding in every-way, but there was one individual that twinkled like the brightest diamond during my stay. His name is John, he is the Inn's van driver. He went out of his way to meet us on our schedule. During our drive he told fascinating stories about the history of Chicago, this being my first trip to this wonderful city, along with my other two companions, we were held captive by his vivid descriptions, and swept away. I being a writer by trade just know there is a story here somewhere, and I suggest you seek out this comfortable Inn, and then take a ride with this fine gentleman named John, you too will be captivated as he will not only take you to your physical destination but also fill your mind with fanciful imagery. more

I have stayed at this property three times. Each has been very pleasant, esp. because of the staff. Everyone smiles and is friendly and helpful. My first trip was with my dogs and it is a great place for dogs. There is ample green area and a short walk down to 55th St gets you to the lake. On my other two trips I have stayed in the main hotel. The rooms are comfortable if not lavish. They are clean. Beds are perfect for me. Location is ideal as it is the only regular hotel within walking distance of UofC. But the people make the place. more

The hotel is right infront of Michigan lake and offers a very good view. The location is ideal for travelers as it offers free parking and easy to locate. They also have free shuttle to downtown at scheduled intervals and so connectivity is to downtown is good. The train station is also 5 blocks away and you can easily walk to 43rd street station from the hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. The lounge is not very attractive but overall facilities are good at the price they offer. The internet connectivity was good in rooms and it was free so I enjoyed it. more

I was visiting for a conference at the Hyde Park campus, and this hotel was incredibly convenient. I was able to leave my car in the parking garage during the day, and a line of taxis was waiting to take me to the campus. The free WiFi was a bonus. more

We really enjoyed our stay at Ramada, location was great and it was a HUGE plus to have a complimentary shuttle ride into the downtown area (we spent $35 dollars in parking the day before). The shuttle driver dropped us off at the steps of the art institute, and picked us up later as well. Free parking was also a plus. The room was basic but clean with a nice open layout. Great view of the pool. Only thing missing is a fridge and microwave. more

I spent the last two weeks at Ramada Inn for professional development training as a teacher in Chicago. I was treated with the utmost respect and courtesy from our hostess, Jessie Coffey and Victoria Coats. These two employees made partonizing the resturant an enjoyable experience. The food was great, especially the mashed potatoes. more

Stayed there for a business event, the hotel is a little afar from chicago center, a 20 dollar ride with a cab, but there is a shuttle provided free from the hotel. Nearby there are some restaurants. The rooms are large, with the basic two beds and bathroom, a little out of date and old, but very clean, confortable and the bathroom was reformed with nice instalations. The breakfast is payed apart, w/ many options in the menu and fair price, and the restaurant is 20 meters distant from the rooms. Staff is very helpful. I thought it was a good option and nice cost-benefit ratio, just the distance from downtown is the disadvantage of the hotel. more

Our purpose on our recent trip to Chicago was to be near the U of Chicago but I almost didn't book this hotel based on old photos and reviews. It was an easy drive or walk from this hotel to just about anywhere you need ot go in Hyde Park. The room was clean, staff was very friendly and helpful, bathroom was clean, towels provided as needed, hote water for shower was hot and plentiful. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the shower above you when you are in the bathroom. You can hear traffic on Lakeshore Drive but it wasn't loud enough to keep us awake. We had a beautiful lake view and took a nice walk along the lakeshore which was an easy walk to get to the lake access bridge from the Ramada. We ate breakfast and had a nightcap at the Lakeshore Cafe dining room and bar where the food was good and the people were friendly. We did not use the pool but it looked refurbished and refreshing. We were driven downtown by very accommodating Ramada Inn shuttle service. All in all, a very good value. more

It's within Walking distance to the Museum of Science and Technology, and a short cab ride to the Magnificent Mile. The staff were very helpful and friendly.\r \r The BEST part of this hotel is the Breakfast Buffet right next door. $10 a person, all you can eat and that includes Juice and Coffee. It was excellent, and we used it both mornings we were there. \r \r The facility itself could use a little renovation on the outside.... the rooms were larger than I expected.. but were pretty standard Hotel fare as far as design.\r \r Free Wi-FI in the Cafe only, I couldn't connect in my room. \r \r I'll stay here again if I visit Chicago. It's overall a good value.\r more
