I have been going to Hoshall's in Carmichael for about 10 years. I have had many stylists over the years but, have always been satisfied with my hair cuts there. Their products are great and really help make maintaining a nice style simple. I have graying hair and am embracing the getting older in style thing. They never pressure me to color my hair as other salons had previously done. They offer new style ideas and some I accept and some I do not. They keep me looking "in style". Either way they are always pleasant and the result is great. I love getting my brows waxed here as they don't "over do it". Their facials ensured my daughter had beautiful skin for proms. My daughter was not satisfied with a style at one time (out of probably 50 times) and they redid it for her for free. I trust Hoshall's. more

Exceptional salon 12/18/2008

I have been a client at Hoshall for YEARS for both hair and nails and can PROMISE that you will be thrilled with your experience... I feel those who feel unwelcome already feel badly about themself and are reading into what simply isn't there. The receptionists are always friendly, their stylists (hair and nail) are very skilled (for nails, see Diane)... Recently I was foolish enough to try going blond at home. I ended up copper! I called Hoshall and they were able to give me my blonde highlights amongst the copper for a fabulous result. I also feel confident that they are a clean salon that uses GOOD products. You will never smell strong fumes there and will find an emaculately maintained salon. Perfection... worth every penny! Also, the designer moisture wash shampoo is TO DIE FOR! It smells amazing and is fabulous... the soy sheen conditioner is fabulous as well... Pros: Ambience, CLEAN, friendly staff, great products, skilled stylists... Cons: A little more expensive but soooo worth it. more

Former 12 year customer 11/14/2008

This salon was at the top of their game in the late 90's into the early 2000's. Now, not so much. I was a customer from 1996 to early 2008, but no longer. They are inconsistant, and not at all mindful of their clients time. On several occasions they made me wait for over 25 minutes beyond my appointment time for a hair cut. In addition, the last 4 times I had anything done in the salon I had to return for a "correction" appointment. The women in the salon are often snotty, and dont really listen to what you want. I asked on one occasion for a certain color and was given another with out the stylist saying she changed the color. She told me when it was time to pay that she thought the color she picked was better. (It was my natural hair color) I would suggest looking for a well trained stylist in another salon. The best hairstylist and Salon I have ever been to. 11/7/2008

Over the past 10 years I have been to many different salons and Hoshall for Hair has been the only Salon that has given me a consistantly phenomenal hair cut and style. Not to mention the beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. I always look forward to sneaking away for a day for me and for pampering at Hoshalls. SO BRAVO to HOSHALLS! more

Yikes for hair. Good for spa. 9/1/2008

OK. The girls that work in the Salon are horrible. They do horrible work. I've had better work done in a beauty college. Plus pricing is RIDICULOUS for the style and service your getting. Not worth it. The Management of this company needs to get their stuck up Cosmetologists into check. \r \r The ladies on the Spa side however, are wonderful. They are very conscientious of your wants and/or needs. Nice relaxing atmosphere too. Definitely see Karmen for a facial! She's great. Front desk is friendly but there's a bad aura there. Definite tension between a few. more

I would never go back to or recommend this salon!!! 6/16/2008

My boyfriend went in to have a Fohawk done that a stylist that used to work there did for him. His usual hair stylist left the salon and so they recommended another woman to cut his hair. She gave him a Mohawk instead! He walked out and went home and shaved his head. He decided to give the salon a second chance when they highly recommended a hair stylist that did Fohawks often and well. I couldn't even look at my boyfriend when she was done. She gave him...yes a Mohawk. His side burns were crooked and she missed shaving spots on the back of his neck. Her name is Melissa by the way. Essentially, he paid another $45 to shave his head and now it will take weeks for his hair to get back to where it was. The hair dressers there do not how to take direction or just don't admit when they do not have the skill for a specific request. I called to complain to a manager and all she could say was sorry. She did not try to rectify the situation. This salon exhibits poor customer service and stylist more

Could have gone to Super-cuts and had the exact same haircut and service for half the price. The "stylist" did my hair and had the hair sweeping boy dry and finish my hair. Who DOES that?! I cannot say anything negative about the estheticians.. In Folsom they are amazing, do a GREAT job and care a great deal. Wonderful facial. more

Nice haircut, ugly salon, dirty, old hair on floor 1/30/2008

Azze cut my hair in December, I didn't get offered any coffee, or water. Receptionist boring and bland. A massage with a haircut? No I didn't have that either.\r But that was probably the cheapest haircut I have ever had, and the best!!! \r Azze is a wizard!! She is perfect!! Too bad, she isn't here in Manhattan, she could make 3 times a much money, if I turned her on to the women in this campaign office. My boss, is running for\r President, and was completely impressed. more

THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO BE THE BEST,,,,NOT! 11/12/2007

I went the first time to have a cut and color. It was just OK and was expensive. The color faded quickly. I decided to try it one more time, as the stylist was very nice but again, for what I got, it was too expensive and the color was terrible. I could have received the same hair cut from Super Cuts for a lot less money. I also could have bought a over the counter color that would have been as good. Never going back! more

Best salon & spa in Sacramento, hands down! 10/29/2007

I've been a loyal Hoshall's customer for years. Not only do they provide expert hair care, but the salon is gorgeous and the spa is luxurious. (I highly recommend the designer facial!) On top of that, the staff is incredible!! Some of the previous reviews commented on service, but it has been my experience over the last 10+ years that the staff members are very accommodating and will do everything in their power to make you happy. All you have to do is ask!!! Hoshall's is in the business of making people feel beautiful and they are excellent at what they do! I recieved a gift card to the salon and spa, I was highly impressed,Beautiful Setting, Friendly Staff, I received an ultimate massage, OMG!!! most do this treatment it is a 5 star massage. all hype no substance 4/23/2006

Sacramento magazine gives this salon its highest rating and I wonder why. I went there for the first time last month for a spiral perm. Before booking an appmt. I had to be seen for a "consultation". I specifically told the "expert stylist" that I wanted a full spiral perm for defined curls. She booked me for the soonest available appmt, (3 weeks out) with their most expensive stylist"perm expert". The day of my appmt. the stylist said in his expert opinion that a regular perm was better than a spiral. I ended up paying $220.00 for slight waves that are straight one month later. It was very disappointing and I would definitely recommend researching other salon options before choosing this one simply because of its commercial image and endorsements. more

Great Stylists, Rude Receptionists 1/31/2006

I've been to this salon twice, with the same experience both times. When I walked in, the receptionist was catty, demeaning, and greeted me and other customers with a sneer. The stylist, however, was friendly, skillful, and made me look great. When I went to pay, I had to deal with the horrible beotch receptionist again. Nice place, OK haircuts 11/22/2005

Part of the appeal of the Hoshall salon is the beautiful interior. You truly feel pampered from the moment you step in the door and I think that's part of what they're going for. The tile is beautiful, the paints and other color schemes are relaxing and feel rich. The staff is gracious and professional. I have had my hair cut there 3 times, each time by a different "level" haircutter and I found no difference in the quality of my cut. The highest price cut (therefore allegedly done by a higher trained stylist), was awful and I was really unhappy for weeks until I had my hair cut again. For the price ($45 cuts), I think I should get a better cut. more

First and Last Time 11/18/2005

If you enjoy being treated as a second class citizen whose time is unimportant, then Hoshall's is for you. After waiting 20 minutes to be seen, I had a wash, cut, and blowdry. I expected my hair to look at least "different". My hair looked the same. I then was asked to pay $100!!! What?!? I had called the salon prior to get a quote, and was quoted $65. When I asked why the price was so high, the receptionist said, "She's a Master Stylist...besides, we can't give quotes over the phone". "Then why DID you give me a quote over the phone?". "We can't tell what your hair looks like over the phone, honey." After finding out that a squirt of gel costs $6 to apply when I could own the bottle for $10, I had had ENOUGH. I will NEVER go there ever again. Two words: STAY AWAY!!!!! Cons: Rude, Disrespectful, Unfriendly more

I have always had a great experience at Hoshalls Salon and Spa. Everyone is always very friendly and it made me feel comfortable. My first experience there, I got my hair highlighted and it came out fabulous. more
