I went back to LA to see Dr. Chen from the east coast over winter break at his new location on Arroyo Pkwy (beautiful!), and was very impressed that his staff remembered me and gr...

Worst

Wow, there were many former patients/employees who could see what I saw. Dr. Chen DOES take if out on patients if he's having a bad day, but maybe he's unhappy with life. I was re...

I had a better experiance with the traffic!!!!! 11/30/2007

I took my daughter to see Dr. Chen today. After sitting in 1 1/2 hours of traffic (only had to go 7 miles),I arrived 10 minutes late, and was greeted by the rudest and most un-professional receptionist I have ever seen. She called me to the front 15 mins later to ask for my co-pay of $5. Little did i know, they have a cash only policy. The receptionist insisted I walk to nearest Atm in the pouring down rain. I told her I was never told about this policy, and she straight out called me a liar, that she knew I was told. So she made us reschedule. I explained to her my daughter was here for a very serious condition, possibly cancerous and the receptionist told me if i was such a caring mother, why couldnt i get my daughter there on time??(as if i could control the traffic). I ended up rescheduling our appt, and when i tried to ask the receptionist a question, she said she was too busy to deal with me and to leave. \r All in all, that was the worst service I have ever received!!!!! I also work in a extremely busy doctors office and we wouldnt dare be so rude to our customers. Please save yourself the time, since there is always traffic in pasadena, and find a new doctor. This office will only make you leave empty-handed, angry and frustrated. Pros: None, never got past the rude receptionist Cons: Rude staff, Non-caring, waste of time, do not bother going more

Dr. Chen is an excellent doctor. I highly recommend him. 11/12/2007

My experience with Dr. Chen has been extremely pleasant. He answers all my questions and he even called me late on a Friday night to go over my biopsy report. He even sent out the results of a biopsy for a second opinion. His staff is pleasant and courteous. The costs of all procedures were explained upfront. In fact, today I had a second scraping where a mole was previously removed and there was no charge (except for the co-pay for the visit). I highly recommend him.\r \r MWN Pros: Dr. Chen answers all my questions and is attentive to my needs as a patient Cons: None really. more

A mad and rude doctor 9/25/2007

Very rude, no patient, office workers rude and absent minded, try other doctors if you want to have a good day.... I have never seen such a bad temper doctor in my life..! He need to see a pyscho doctor himself....! Cons: Rude doctor that shame to claim himself professional. more

Abysmal Experience: patients beware 9/21/2007

A waiting room full of yammering cell phone users, sleazy, semi-pornographic magazines and surly receptionists are just a few of the delights awaiting Dr. Chen's potential patients. Add to this an explicable ""Cash Only"" policy more suitable to a dealer than a reputable dermatologist. An excruciatingly dismal experience to which I will never return. Cons: surly, disrepectful, unprofessional, dismal, dismaying more

Best Patient Care Ever 7/22/2007

My family and I have been long-time patients of Dr. Chen \r - Excellent Medical Treatment, Excellent Customer Service - \r \r Dr. Chen successfully treated many skin problems for me - last week he removed 4 warts from my hand by freezing them off with liquid nitrogen. They immediately froze and fell off within a week! \r \r My 9-year-old daughter sees Dr. Chen for her acne and my wife sees him for sunspots. \r \r We are all extremely satisfied with Dr. Chen and his staff. This doctor definitely knows what he's doing! Pros: Results of Dr. Chen's treatment are great, he's rated as one of the top dermatologists in the country! Cons: Dr. fully accomodates all patients and this may result in waiting longer, but it is definitely worth it more

worst experience ever 7/17/2007

When I went to see Dr. Chen I had the worst service I have ever received. They are rude and do no have their practice in order. They did nohave my paperowrk ready before i came into the office which made me wait over 3 hours. They then tried to blaim the situation on me and telling me I was not being considerate. DMrs. Mrs. Chen, the receptionist or office manager treated me with utmost disrepect. I have nver been spoken to in that manner. Not only are they incompeente in their work and also rude, bhowver they just want money. That's all they want. Mrs. Chen won't even clairy billing siutaions she does not want to try to reslove any situations and just blaims it on others. I will never go to this dermatoglist ever again. The epxerience was horrifying and I do not recommend others to come see him. or rather his wife, who handled the billing and front office. more

LACKS PROFESIONALISM, RUDE, LACKS COMMUNICATION SKILLS, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! 5/22/2007

PLEASE READ BEFORE CONSIDERING GOING TO DR CHEN. This office has made numerous errors on my case. Did not submit my paperwork on a timely manner with my insurance company, causing treatment disruptions. Recept is rude to their patients. Very rude, antsy and angry tone. The office and it's staff do not take the time to listen to their patience's concern, THE ONLY THING THEY ARE INTERESTED IN IS GETTING PAID. I've paid $100 of co-pay in advance for 10 visits and they've lost the paperwork, then asking me for more monies. They did finally found records of my co-pay of $100, to my surprise no apology (bad business practice). Now here's the icing on the cake. I've upgraded from HMO to PPO status on Jan 2007. Notify reception, they said no problem and took all of my updated info. Been doing my UVB treatments since Jan 2007 to May 2007. Mid May came, I receive a call from Mrs Chen, accusing me of ""Lying"" about my insurance status. Huh? What? Our conversation was hopeless because Mrs Chen was not interested in a resolution, she wanted to be RIGHT. Later, I spoke to Mr Chen on the phone, to my surprise with an 8 years relationship, he switched from mr nice guy to a state of uncompassionate and an unwillingness to resolve this issue. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DR CHEN FAILED TO BE PROACTIVE AND DID NOT SHOW EMPATHY TOWARD OUR MIS-BILLING ISSUE. I then follow up with my Insurance company and was told Dr Chen are submitting their bills incorrectly based on my new PPO status. It appears Dr Chen and Mrs Chen jump the gun and SHOCKED ME WITH THEIR ACCUSATIONS. ONCE AGAIN, TAKING THEIR FRUSTRATION TOWARD THEIR CLIENT. CASE IS STILL PENDING, DUE TO THESE SERIES OF ACTIONS, THEY HAVE LOST A GREAT, LOYAL CLIENT. THEIR LOST NOT MINE. It is a shame that this office do not understand what customer service and appreciation means. Cons: TOO MANY TO MENTIONED, READ MY REVIEW more

Worlds Worst Dermatologist 6/23/2005

After doctor Tommy H. Chen removed my wart which left a half a centimeter hole in my finger, in 2 weeks it grew right back. If looking for a dermatologist this is not the one you want. Pros: None, None, None Cons: Parking Fees, No Reminder Calls, Expensive more
