TRY EMPERIOR'S GARDEN, THEN YOU'LL SEE WHERE THE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN BOSTON IS AT !

This is one of my fovorite hangouts 8/27/2011

I just love this place! It has awsome food and reasonable prices, If you like authentic Chinese cuisine then you will find it here. They also have some Chinese-American dishes for the unadventurous. They have plenty of space and parking, and it's open till 3 AM! The seafood is so fresh, it's still swimming in one of the tanks when you place your order. They also have the game on in the evenings and karaoke upstairs late at night. The Dim Sum is probably the best in Boston. more

Simply the best 5/7/2010

Open late. Best customer service i've ever dealt with in all my Chinese food years. If your dining in, wonderful tranquil area with great scenery. average pricing, and in all honesty probably the best all around Chinese food experience you will have. Highly recomended! more

Adding Tips By Yourself? 9/30/2009

I ordered a takeout and 3 days later found out that the restaurant overcharged my credit card 10% of the amount I agreed to pay. This is rediculous - so the restaurant ASSUMED that I should pay tips without my awareness? I called the restaurant and was just pushed around. I guess this is a way they make profit!! Cons: Overcharged My Credit Card more

Very good dim sum in Chinatown!!! 11/21/2008

I just love it. It is so good and tasty that I go there once a week!!!! Their Dim Sum is probably once of the best in Boston Chinatown. The only inconvenient is it is very hard to find a parking in Chinatown. Pros: Excellent Dim Sum Cons: No Parking more

I can live with the atmosphere but the food was not impressive 7/20/2008

As far as atmosphere, Im not hard to please so I wasnt concerned with the place itself. My friend was raving about the calamari and it wasnt good at all. The fried rice was the only thing that was good. I ordered beef lo mein and I wasnt impressed at all. The noodles were super thin, and I asked for no bean sprouts and they still put them in there. For the amount of money I spent, I should of gone to PF changs. more

Worth the trip to the DMV just for the Dim Sum 5/13/2008

I wondered into Chau Chow after visiting the DMV one block over. I had no idea what the reputation of the restaurant was, nor what to expect. I was ushered into the back, up-stairs room which I later learned was the Dim Sum Room. Here, waiters and waitresses push around little carts of dumplings, rice, veggies, and dessert. I had no idea what I was ordering, and just pointed to random dishes. Everything was fantastic! I was a little nervous that they didn't accept credit cards (everyone else in the room was paying with cash), but they do take cards! I highly recommend the Dim Sum Room for lunch! I had lobster, shrimp, and pork and all of the food was fresh! fresh! fresh! Pros: Fresh Food, Great Lunch Spot Cons: Dated Ambience, Out-of-the-way location more

where everybody crowds after 2am 4/12/2008

for dim sum this place is ok, but i usually prefer ""hei la moon"" on the other side of the gate (franklin street). it seems a bit ""cleaner"" (and tables less squished together) there. food is slightly there better too. Pros: late night eats, ok dimsum/food quality Cons: had better more

Dim Sum for Sunday Brunch 9/28/2007

I love chau chow's for their dim sum on sundays! It's a fun place to take your family for brunch. They go around the room with carts filled with dumplings and other things that you can choose from. It can get a little too hectic in there sometimes but overall it's one of my favorite places to go with the family. more

Good Choice 8/15/2007

WIDE variety of selections, fast service and tasty food. Clean, wide open eating areas. Can't be beat. more

Cheating on the Price 7/28/2007

I ordered a Peking duck last Sunday (Sept. 26) as a takeout. I paied by my bank card. The price was $37.15 including tax and that was what I wrote on the bill. Today I checked my bank account and found out the restaurant took $40.70 from my card. I called several times and always got the answer that the manager wasn't there and no one else there could handle this. Cons: Cheating on the Price more

Gotta Love This Chinese 4/7/2006

This place is outstanding, period. Upon walking in to Chau Chow City we were greeted by an entourage of Chinese men anxious to seat us. Having been to China, it felt Chinese authentic. The menu is comprehensive, though it lacked a wide selection of beer. We ordered appetizers, which I kid you not were on our table within 3 minutes. I don't know how many people they have working back there if ya know what I mean, but that was lightning fast. The service was OUTSTANDING. If you have an empty plate on your table, I promise you it'll be gone within 30 seconds. Definately eat here. Pros: Service, Menu Selection, Taste Cons: Silverwear Dirty more

The Chau Chow City 1/24/2006

They call it the Chau Chow City because it's not only a chinese resturant but it's a city, a HUGE 3 story restaurant. This restaurant has DIM SUM which most other chinese resturant in Massachusetts does not offer. Also caters to all mixes and celebrations including weddings and special events. Overall one of the top chinese resturants in Boston! Affordable and nice atmosphere for all ages!!! Pros: Atmosphere, Food & Beverage, Service Cons: Crowded more

No, No 7/13/2003

I don't know this place got such a high rating. I expect bad service for a Chinese restaurant but this goes beyond. The dim sum is some of the worst I've had. I'm a student from AZ and even they have better dim sum. The only thing good here is their egg tarts. Cons: Food, Service more

best dimsum in Chinatown 1/3/2003

Chau Chow City has the best dimsum in Boston's Chinatown. I was always taught that the bigger restaurants had better dimsum because of increased food turnover (thereby ensuring fresher food). The fact that this restaurant is fully packed every time I go means that other folks feel the same way. The food is not quite as good or interesting as what you would get in the big cities of Asia or California, but what do you expect? This is only Boston after all. Pros: good food, lively atmosphere, cheap prices Cons: Chinatown parking, sometimes a wait, no reservations more

WAY Over rated 12/1/2002

I was very disappointed. I picked this restaurant because it was rated pretty well in citysearch to take my friend from LA. We were all disappointed. First of all, the restaurant was NASTY. Crusty dried up rice pieces on utensils and their sauces for all their dishes were so weird and so thick and creamy. We ordered Crispy Sesame Chicken, Pepper Sauce Steak and Scallops with Asparagus and vegetables. I was very disappointed with everything. I really hope to find a real authentic and well prepared Chinese food in Boston. I definitely do not recommend this one to anyone! Pros: free rice Cons: Dirty, Bad food more

The Best Chinese Chow 11/27/2002

I love this restaurant. It serves the best chinese food. It also has great service and people from everywhere come to eat here. It's just so good! I wouldn't change going there for the world. My family and I go almost every weekend. I'm telling you if you haven't gone to Chau Chow then you haven't tasted chinese food. Pros: Great Service, Good environment, Inexpensive Cons: Not enough parking more

Fantastic Chinese ! 11/20/2002

This place is worth the wait ! great fish dishes and dim sum ! Pros: Awesome food Cons: eh service, long wait more

Crowded Cusine 11/16/2002

Every friday people gather from everwhere just to experience this fine restaurant. The food is great, but you should always ask them to cook it the 'chinese way' so they won't add too much msg in it. more

Dim sum within walking distance to OFC 11/9/2002

If you work at One Financial Center, then step out the back door and take the short stroll to Chau Chow for dim sum (or check out the lunch menu, where you can find a great meal for very little cash). I also attended a large party here and the staff was more than happy to serve a vegetarian meal that was not part of the set menu. more
