Great Party Hotel and Spirit 1/21/2010

Fun place to have a party and you cannot argue with the history... Pros: History more

Not worth it unless they seat you outside 7/30/2009

It was a beautiful evening so we decided to eat in at the Chatueau Marmont's garden restaurant; however, when we got there they sat us in an inside room by ourselves ...insisting there was no room in the garden. But as we sat there we saw them seating lots of folks. And yes, I know they hold tables for folks staying at the hotel but the folks we saw were not. Anyway, what was really disappointing was the food and service...very poor. Pros: beautiful garden Cons: very mediocre food, poor service more

Typical Hollywood restaurant with overpriced cusine, poor service and a fake facade 3/8/2009

This review is not for the hotel, but for the restaurant within the Chateau Marmont. We were a party of 5 seated promptly. The atmospehere in the Chateau Marmont is whimsical and sophistcated which I hoped would bring a great experience, but at the end of the meal I was greatly dissapointed. Everything took forever, our reservations were at 7:30Pm and we didn't leave until 11:00PM. I had thought the entrees would have been worth the wait, but when they arrived there wasn't anything to remember. We had to finally go to the front to acquire our check and pay the $400 tab. The Chateau Marmont restaurant is just another Hollywood restaurant with overpriced food, poor service and a false reputation. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Service, Food more

best brunch spot 8/18/2008

I never would have thought about coming here to eat, but I had some friends in from out of town who wanted to do something very ""L.A."" Admittedly, I was expecting a bit of a scene with people talking at volume 10 about the next script they were working on, but there was none of that. It was comfortable, relaxing and refreshingly casual. It was an ideal setting for brunch with friends. We sat outside in the courtyard area. It was enclosed by trees with a gorgeous view of the hotel. The service was outstanding and I had the best eggs benedict I've ever tasted. It was -- even for me -- the ideal Hollywood experience. Pros: perfect place for brunch, historic hollywood setting Cons: try not to take separate cars, parking is limited more

Excellent 2/28/2008

This really is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. You get the best people watching on the patio, its serene, and the food is never a let down. Pros: The patio Cons: There may be a wait for a table more

Not the most consistent place to go really.... 11/23/2007

Just returned from a week in LA and I have to say this past visit to CM was kinda lame. We had mediocre service and the salmon sandwich was so raw I couldn't even bite into it. Oh, and my friend ordered a $24 mimosa. Ouch.\r \r It is a beautiful outdoor space though and we may try it again. more

My fave spot for brunch, lunch & celeb-spotting 11/18/2007

Not sure why the other reviewer had such a negative experience, but I have been coming to the Chateau for years and have never had a bad time. Admittedly, I have only come for brunch or lunch, so maybe it's different at dinnertime. Anyway, yes, the service can sometimes be slow, but I have always enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere is just so classic rock 'n' roll. The seared ahi appetizer and cold artichoke soup are my favorite and all the salads are good. The best place to sit is the courtyard -- it feels like you've escaped to some beautiful little hideaway far from the city. And, if you're like me & get a kick out of seeing celebs, then you'll simply love it here -- I've never not seen a famous face! Pros: Food is delicious, scene is unbeatable Cons: Valet parking is pricey more

All hype, no substance! 10/14/2007

As someone who enjoys fine dining, and has frequented most of the great spots in LA, I was sadly dissappointed at this highly rated hotel restuarant. The wait staff were lethargic, unattentive and poorly groomed. Most of them looked like they need a good shower or at the very least a brush. I mean I can deal with ""LA shabby"" but this put a whole new spin on it for me. Moving past the personal hygiene of the dining room staff the menu, albeit minimal, seemed to hold some promise-WRONG! The 3 cheese appetizer consisted of 3 overly strong flavored cheeses that put on a plate together made your eyes water not your mouth. I may even had enjoyed them if I could have convinced the waiter to bring me a fork. The halibut was overcooked or should I say over fried. The bolognese sauce was a slight improvement on the other coursesbut I wouldn't drive out of my way to get it or send any Italian friends there to eat it. The only worthwhile aspect was the freshness of the vegetables. For the amount this restaurant charges and the guantlet one has to get through to get into the place, I was expecting much more. The only redeeming qualities were the lovely hosts and hostesses (inside the restaurant) not the crazy ones in black trying to keep you out at the very full valet parking. All in all the experience was mediocre and not worth it at all. We left without desert and headed to Sona for our final course-a much wiser and well spent choice. Had we not had several star sightings we would have not even stayed for the main course. But who can resist drunk celebs stumbling to the bathroom? more

old charm hollywood 8/7/2007

spending a weekend in a private bungalow was just so romantic .....we live in la but if you want to get away ..it is the place. .The staff is very courteous and helpful.Great swimming pool area and the lobby is very inviting for drinks and relaxing Pros: romantic hotel Cons: parking more

We were treated like Royalty! 8/7/2007

WOW! what an amazing place. We were given the biggest room on the first floor. You literally just walked from dinner to your room. Felt like we had a secret entrance to the castle that no one knew about and the room was HUGE with views so you could see who else was staying there. The hotel service was to die for from personal directions for walking the hills from Benedict to wine suggestions from Elizabeth. The pool was a blast and even Clare Danes sunbathed right down from us. Unbelievable the amount of star power we saw from the new arrivals from England to Christopher LLoyd himself. If you only do it once, you should do it right at the Chateau you must stay at least two days so you can have breakfast and dinner in the garden and drinks in the lobby. Just sit back and enjoy yourself. Guests are treated like royalty! Pros: Takes the second time of trying to feel like you can manuever the drive way more

If you must get into trouble, go to the Marmont 4/23/2007

Great hotel. A classic, really. The sense of history is beyond compare. The rooms are cozy and have an understated grace. If you can afford it - you must stay here. more

love it 12/20/2006

i love this spot... i always see someone i know and always enjoy my food. its a great place to meet up with someone Pros: love the food more

It depends on how you look at it... 10/23/2006

My family was in town and we stayed at the Chateau in one of the 2-bedroom suites which seemed like a good idea. Even though we were 3 floors up and to the back of the building, there was a horrible noise coming from below one of our windows which kept us up for most of the night. We made a complaint to the front desk to request a room maybe one or two floors up to relieve us from the noise. Well, we must have been the lucky 100th customer that day because we ended up in Bungalow 1 the size of an average home here in Los Angeles!! It would be a tease to explain the dimensions of this unit and its amenities, but let me just say, we now understand why La Lohan did not want to leave this place!! We did eat once in the restaurant, but the service was REALLY slow. We also sat outside on the patio and had lunch and unless you are self conscious, expect a lot of stares. We capped off our stay having a few friends over and staying up late in the lobby, which was just how I would like to remember this wonderful Hollywood landmark. I just dont think it would be the same if we ever go back... Pros: Amenities, Star Sightings, Romantic Cons: Food Service more

OVER-RATED! 10/3/2006

PLEASE...this place is so completely overated. I went to a ""Wedding Reception"" in noe of the suites with a balcony slightly overlooking Sunset. I was not impressed. The room was a little dingy and the place just didn't feel clean. ""Luxurious"" did not come to mind. Pros: Location. "Cool factor". Cons: Dingy more

I love this place 9/12/2006

I like the views from the rooms, the french architecture and the bar within the hotel. I often come to LA because I have a pet parrot that stars in many movies and I swear that she loves the rooms more than I do. Granted I have to sneak her in. When I am in LA, it's all about the Chateau Marmont. Pros: Cool atmosphere, Nice Bar Cons: Falling down the driveway drunk more

Hidden Garden's under the stars and the Castle like stance makes for a magical night 7/31/2006

... ok that is if you are an A list star and can get a reservation! We are now regulars at this swanky heavenly piece of Los Angeles. The setting could be a movie set. Gardens, flickering lights, torches, gorgeous staff and patrons. The food is amazing and each night has a special that is out of this world. You will want to stay here all night! If you are from out of town call a year a head and beg to get in. It is worth it!!!!! Pros: Magical Dining Experience Under the Stars with Stars Cons: Difficult to snag a reservation more
