My wife wanted to surprise me for father’s day so she booked us for a visit to Chart House in Tampa, Florida. She is from New Jersey and we have visited the Chart House on the Hudson river many times and enjoyed our visit, so she wanted the father’s day to be a special day for all of us. To our surprise it was the worst dinner outing we have ever experienced! I spoke to the “master chef” at Chart House and the manager Brian. My wife and I chose from the “special menu” steak Oscar with crab meat and asparagus. What a joke! We received a heaping load of yellow mash potatoes with 3 small thin pieces of meat and 2 little pieces of crab shaving, 2 pieces of Asparagus all smothered in a yellow salty sauce. To top it all our salads were presented nicely, and then tossed, ½ the amount served while the rest was taken away! I told Brian his salad serving plate’s enamels were worn out. And his server “Lin” lacked smile or adequate service etiquettes. Although I gave him $50 tip, I thought of it as his final tip from us. We even had to teach him you don’t bring my grandson a 4 year old child his Sprite in a tall glass! Both the master chef and Brian genuinely apologized, and Brian said he is going to send me a card to have me return for a better service. Thanks for your generous gift card! I am returning it. I mentioned to Brian that this restaurant is located on a gold mind with a beautiful view and he should address these problems so that the customers would want to return again. There used to be another restaurant names Landry’s. I went there once and never returned due to similar experience, so I hate to see Chart house go out of business like Landry’s. Once again we enjoy the Chart House in New Jersey a lot. As we were leaving the restaurant, my wife asked me, “would you ever come back to this restaurant again?” I responded, absolutely not. more

Run, Don't Walk, Somewhere Else! 1/22/2011

I had eaten at Landry's in Pensacola years ago and was pleasantly surprised. But this place was a true disappointment. If they are going to charge such exorbitant prices, they should at least provide exceptional food. I went there for my birthday and ordered oysters and what they served was hardly an excuse to be called an oyster dish. Tiny little specs of almost unidentifiable things they might classify as oysters. Best bet, save your money, go somewhere else where you won't be robbed and that has good food. more

Bad food...... 6/20/2010

Ordered 2 Grooper fish and ships, soaked in oil, way under cooked bad tast afterwards..... really bad food. Pros: Good bread and salad and that is it. Cons: worst fish and ships ever more

Fantastic 3/4/2010

My daughter and I recently visited Tampa and the driver taking us to our hotel suggested Landrys for seafood. He also gave us a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert. We had a lunch/dinner meal and it was wonderful. The waiter and staff were very informative and knew their menu. We took his advice and ordered what he suggested. Great choice! Location is good. We will return when in Tampa again. Thanks staff for a wonderful experience and great food!! Pros: Best Seafood more

Great place for a wedding 3/1/2009

We had our wedding at the Courtney Campbell Causeway location , June 14, 2008. The wedding was on the back outside terrace. The reception was split, food inside, bar outside. We choose a cocktail party, and the food was exceptional. Two chefs were present and commented on the quality of the freshness and the presentation. When the head of catering noticed the food we had ordered was disappearing quickly, she recommended some additions that could be added last minute and saved the day. Everyone who attended had nothing but accolades for the entire reception. And with 65 people , open bar and extravegent seafood buffet the bill ran under $5,000 ! Amazing. Pros: Great food Cons: You have to know what you want, the event planner is young more

Horrendous Atrocity of a Restaurant 1/27/2009

This place is GOD AWFUL!!!! Stay far far away!! While the outside of the building and the water side view may seem appealing do not be fooled. As soon as you step inside you're greeted with dining decor reminscent of your local Picadilly. Our food (the broiled seafood platter and crab legs) were bland, cold, and overall disappointing. The server was obnoxious, trying to take our order every 2 seconds when clearly we weren't ready and then completely ignoring us when we did need something. And as if that's not bad enough, it was all exhorbitantly overpriced. Our bill was close to $200 for 2 people and while I am not at all cheap and am completely fine with paying for premium, quality food this was most certainly NOT premium or quality. It wasn't even marginally okay. I will never, ever, EVER be back. Save your money and go somewhere else!! Pros: nothing Cons: everything!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Worst Experience EVER! 5/16/2008

I have frequented Landry's fo 5years and ALL service and food was great. Decided to spend a most significant even, daughters graduation with friends and family expecting the same service and good food. What a diaster to a special one in a lifetime occassion. Poor service, food was delivered cold and redelivered second time cold. An unforgetable disappointing night. I don't think you want to plan a a significant occassion here. Manager was apathetic to correcting situation...OVERALL a very poor experience Pros: None for this occassion Cons: Everything more

This S U C K S! 3/16/2008

You would do better at Long John Silver's 1/18/2008

When we asked the hotel clerk for a good seafood resturant she recommended this place and gace us a coupon for a free dessert. At the end of evening this was the best deal, hands down.\r Our original waiter handed us off to another, lethally perky waitstaff.\r The food is very ordinary. In fact my shrimp Po' Boy came with tiny shrimps, inedible limp onion rings and fries. When informed about the bad food our waiter said she was sorry but did do anything about it. The bill came to $81 (plus tip for indifferent service) for three people one of whom just had a house salad. \r Diner beware! Pros: great waterfront location Cons: Food quality and indifferent service more

Nice view is all 12/3/2007

Arrived at 5 PM on a weekday. We asked to be seated in a quiet spot and was seated in the center of a crowded section. A long time passed before a waiter showed up. Then we had three different waiters and confusion with the food ordered and the beverages. We asked what the problem was, answer: ?we arrived at a bad time?. Poor service, average food, high prices and a nice view. When I complained to the manager, he said ?please come backed and I will make sure you get good service?. Thanks but no thanks.\r Pros: View Cons: Very poor service, poor management, so-so food along with high prices. more

Mickey D's Would have done it better 7/4/2005

After speaking with the asst. manager about an overcooked lobster and an inedible fatty gristly steak, I was told ""well, we are not a steakhouse"". Flabbergasted, I spoke w/the Mgr, who after 10 minutes of heated discussion w/my spouse agreed to pay for HALF of the inedible meat. Amazing. Then he invited us to come back. Ummm, sure, if you actually hired waiters and bothered to train them, AND footed the whole bill. Poor service...waited for 35 minutes before fetching my own water. What an anniversary dinner it was. Highly unreccomended. Pros: View, drinks Cons: Poor Service, Poor Prices, Poor Management more

Landry's 12/30/2004

The food here is very good. The atmosphere is pleasant. The several times we have dined here the service has only been adequate. I would recommend better training for the waiters. more

Perfect place for seafood and a view 6/27/2004

The Snapper here is great...and I don't even like fish. The service was very good. It's nice they give the whole table a bowl full of salad, so no one goes hungry. I think I will stick to Bonefish for my favorite seafood place, but the view makes it a great place to bring visitors. Pros: Snapper, View, Service more

excellent view 8/8/2002

OUTSTANDING.... 7/30/2002

We enjoyed it all..soup to nuts.... The appetizer was a good size portion. The tuna, crabmeat and catfish were awesomely fresh. The accompanying sauces were delicious. Even the Martinis we had were very good. We were only disappointed that our visit to the Tampa area was so short, we would certainly gone back for more. Kudos to Landry's on a job well done. Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: Hostess not cordial more
