Service was great. Loved the server. Although the food was well seasoned. I had the ribs and brisket combo, the ribs were not fall off the bone tender. In fact they were chewey an...

Nasty, just plain nasty 1/11/2005

Memphis is proud of its limited choices I guess. This place is god-awful !!!!!!!!!!! more

Fun Place for Fun People 12/22/2004

If you come to the Rendezvous for a great time with friends and great food - especially dry ribs - you won't be disappointed. If you don't like dry ribs, don't get them! They are definitely different but most people love them. And as for some of these other reviews that complain about the alley, waiters, and atmosphere... they're probably snooty people who can't have a good time anyway. We always love our trips to the Rendezvous and would recommend it to any of our friends (at least those who love fun and great food!). Pros: atmosphere, food more

Terrible, Nasty, Gross 7/25/2004

I've had better BBQ at ""DreamLand"" in Tuscaloosa AL......the Rendezvous is awful, the ribs taste like they're reheated under a lamp....the service is with a bad attitude.. SKIP THIS ONE more

Best Dry Ribs in the World! 2/28/2004

Not sure why this restaurant is listed under West Memphis, AR but in any case, The Rendezvous is 1 of my sentimental faves in Memphis. The best dry ribs ever, character waiters & atmosphere all contribute to making The Rendezvous a Memphis tradition & a must-do for 1st time visitors. Thumbs up! Pros: Best Dry Ribs, Character Waiters, Atmosphere Cons: , Long waits more

Real Deal 12/19/2003

Great dry ribs (which is the only kind they have), get a sausage and cheese plate and a pitcher. Most folks get a full order, don't try anything fancy, a full order is what they do. Service is great and atmosphere is wonderful. If you are going downtown Memphis, this is the place to start. Folks who are used to wet ribs or expect it to be a ""fancy"" restaurant will often not like it. Oh, and the waiters have generally been there for 20 years, so save the tired pc mis-characterizations. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Yummy 8/22/2003

I think the Rendezvous is wonderful. If you don't like dry rub, eat something else off of the menu besides ribs. The place is great! Q should be spicey and not sweet. Rendezvous gets it right every time. more

i heard it was a must do 6/21/2003

I Have had serveral people say""If you go to Memphis, you have to go to Rendezvous"" Me and my friend went and it was the worst meal I had in Memphis. I really thought it would be better. A lot of hype on this place and it was not cheap either. Now I am just a tourist who visits Memphis twice a year for holiday weekends but I would suggest Blues City on Beale. They had wonderful ribs, fall off the bone ribs, great flavor. Made me go back. And I am not a big rib person thanks more

PORK!!! 2/5/2003

Two foods I love in Memphis are fried pickles and the Randez-Vous(pork ribs). I can hardly wait until the next time I'm in Memphis to savour that little southern delicacy cooked to perfection, pork ribs. Yeah, yeah the waitors do have an attitude, hell most of them have been there for at least 20 years so they have a right to have some attitude. The Randez-vous is a must when in Memphis, I just wish they served fried pickles. Pros: great ribs Cons: long wait more

The Best BBQ in the world 1/13/2003

They can remember whole table orders like it nothing. If your ever in Memphis or never been this place is a must stop and should be listed in the citysearch Best Of Best nationally. Pros: Great Food, Excellent Service Cons: Can be Crowed more

Dry is better 12/13/2002

I am not from Memphis, but every time I drive through, Charlie Vergos is a must stop. Dry rub is the only way to do ribs, and this place does it best. more

AWFUL 11/21/2002

I really don't see what the hoopla is over this place. These were by far the worst ribs I have ever had. The only thing good about the meal was the ice tea. Pros: Ice tea, Paid parking Cons: Expensive, Close parking more

FABOLOSO 11/10/2002

the most delicious dry BBQ 10/23/2002

eating at charlie vergos rendezvous is a grand experience, on a visit to memphis from florida, we happened in to the rendezvous when they were having a private luncheon (of course it was tuesday and they did not open until 4:30) but they kindley served my wife and i and an friend with a rack of great ribs. the best ribs i have ever tasted. we sat at a table next to mr. vargos and he was most gracious and kind to us...we appreciate the experience that we had. Pros: great ribs, grand ambiance more

Overrated & Overpriced 10/2/2002

Lived in Memphis for over 25 years, been to most BBQ restaurants. Don't want to eat from styrofoam plates, platstic forks unless I'm at a picnic, which is the way the food is served. Food quality if average, service above avg. more

Down at the Rendezvous... 8/22/2002

I've eaten at the Rendezvous so many times, it may have lost it's magic for me. I have never had a bad meal there. The sausage and cheese platter plus a slab of Ribs and a couple of beers. I guess you have to try the Rendezvous if you come to Memphis, but don't make it your only experience in Memphis BBQ. Pros: RIBS, LOCATION, SERVICE Cons: OVERATED more

How Barbeque Should Be 8/19/2002

Everything about this place makes it the perfect place for southern barbeque. Yeah the ribs are dry but they are suppose to be. If you want sloppy ribs go north. You feel like you're at a family reunion or a neighboorhood barbeque. The best. more

Best of the Best 8/13/2002

I used to work for a bank that was connected to the Rendevous. I loved to go after work and have dinner. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves barbeque. I have since moved to Fort Worth, Texas where it is very hard to find pork barbque but I try to go there everytime I visit Memphis. Pros: Good Food, Good Service Cons: Crowded, Not open during day more
