Best

There seem to be a lot of places around Briar Creek selling sushi, but this one is the best. A little pricier than some of the others, but way better quality. My stomach and I ...

Worst

we decided to give this place a try after a neighbor told us this is where they first got their sushi fix when they moved into brier creek...

Service is lackluster 9/22/2007

I have been there twice. The serving staffs did not seem to want to be there both times. Thai food was ok, but there was a price jump in the dinner menu just 1 week after my first visit, and the portion seems to have gone down, so I was pretty disappointed. Not sure if I will go back there. Pros: N/A Cons: Bad service more

Nothing special, Sushi is average 6/17/2007

Eaten the sushi (have not tried the Thai) at Champa 3 or 4 times. Tried variety of nigiri, sashimi and special rolls. Best they have is the eel which is fantastic -- everything else is average. Slightly more expensive than average sushi place. Service has been terrible every time I have gone. more

Food is not that good. 2/14/2007

Food really is not that good and there are not a lot of places to sit. You would be better off going to New Asia in Brier Creek. Pros: Nothing really Cons: Bad food more

Go for Thai, not sushi 1/4/2007

The place is a ripoff at dinner time but reasonable for lunch. I almost always get the duck in red curry. Don't even bother with the sushi. It's overpriced and you can find much better elsewhere (Waraji and Sushi Thai come to mind). Thai is what they're good at. Pros: Great lunch prices Cons: Sushi is not good more

Consistently delicious Thai food 12/29/2006

I go to Champa once every two weeks or so for either lunch or dinner. While the service is a little slow at times, I have not had problems with it. For lunch I recommend the chicken noodle bowl or Thai spicy basil. All of the food I've had there is excellent. In fact, although I love sushi, I've never tried it because the Thai food is so tempting. Everyone I know who's eaten there absolutely loves it. more

Boycotting this restaurant 12/10/2006

Update: Avoid this restaurant like the plague. The restaurant would sneak additional charges on your bill! We asked for Vegetarian Drunken Noodle (10.95$). The bills comes out as 11.95$. When we asked, they said that since they added tofu, they add $1. But we never asked for that in the first place! The owner said we should have say something when we see that there are additional items on our plate. That's ridiculous?! I am boycotting this restaurant for good - and making sure that no one I know will go there. Pros: Location Cons: Horrible Service more

Excellent food, mediocre service 6/11/2006

I eat often at this restaurant. I usually order the Spicey Thai Basil Beef or the Red Curry Chicken. Both of these dishes are fantastic. I have tried several of the other dishes and they are also very good. The Pad Thai is good too. My wife loves the Sushi here. I think the service could improve, but it has not made my experience at Champa unpleasant. However, we have noticed that the workers will take a cigarette break at go immediately back to working without washing their hands. Pros: Spicey Basil Beef/Red Curry/Sushi Cons: service more

BAD svc; Best sushi in Triangle (inconsistent!) 5/24/2006

To-go sushi orders w/multiple sushi rolls are usually missing something (70% of the time), so check your bag. Service is haughty and rude. Management is aloof, rude, and seems bothered by your presence. I continue to go back b/c sushi is BEST I've ever had, though quality is INCONSISTENT. I think I've figured it out -- go when they're not busy, get awesome sushi. Go when biz is booming, you're playing the lotto. (Fish might be warm and/or not fresh -- texture is off) Prices are way too high, but some of the rolls are well worth it (Double 5!), others are average. Overall NOT recommended. Sushi highly recommended if you get certain rolls and go when it's not busy. Pros: Best sushi N triangle Cons: No waiting area, Inconsistent quality more

User review by kjeffers1 4/27/2006

I'm surprised at some of the comments regarding this restaurant. My husband and I go there at least once a week and always receive excellent service and food quality. I think they have some of the best sushi I've ever eaten, and their prices are comparable to other sushi houses we've tried. They are by far my favorite sushi restaurant and I drive over 25 miles just to go there. more

The Spider Roll and Crunchy Roll are AWESOME! 4/25/2006

I went there on a date. The waiter was funny, informative and helpful! The food was great and the interior was very pleasant. In fact we went there for a second time. more

Food ok, BAD SERVICE 2/22/2006

The Thai food was ok, I had better and less inexpensive. We stood around for a while and none of the staff acknowledged us so we sat ourselves. The restaurant was pretty chilly, they need better insulated doors or something. The food takes forever to come out. There sushi is pretty good and that's really the only good thing. So overall food is ok, sushi pretty good, price is pretty high when u can go somewhere else for better tasting food, service was very poor. Pros: sushi Cons: staff more

Excellent Pad Thai !! 1/24/2006

I've eaten here three times. Each time the food has had excellent flavor. Service was good. Nice semi-causual place to dine. Pros: food, service, pad thai more

DO NOT EAT HERE!! 1/23/2006

My friend and I received very bad service at this restaurant. Upon entering we were told rather coldly to sit by the window. After some time we noticed some of the wait staff staring at us, yet noone came to take our drink order. A short time later after this same behavior continued and noticing that the prices were somewhat expensive we decided that enough was enough so we left. Cons: Bad Service more

Unique and Trendy 1/13/2006

Must eat here! Wide selection of appetizers, reasonably priced martini specials, and AWESOME THAI FOOD distinguish Champa from the rest. Sushi selection is huge and comes out fresh. Tom Kha soup, while it may cost $13, and seem on the high side, is served in a volcano bowl with a side of rice and would easily serve two people- a meal itself! Veggie Spring Rolls come out piping hot with a wonderful sweet and tangy sauce for dipping, and their PAD THAI is the most flavorful I've had. Evidently, the restaurant is under new management and the changes are already evident. Visit before the usual dinner rush for best experience. Highly recommended!! Pros: Fresh Sushi, Atmosphere, Location more

They Must Be Joking 12/5/2005

My wife and I walked in and were ignored, so we helped ourselves to a peak at the menu. I always order the Tom Kha soup to start, but when we saw it was priced at $13 we immediately left. I can't comment on the food itself, but I am completely certain that their soup isn't three times as good as the average, which it would need to be at that price! more

Good Food, Poor Service 10/25/2005

After my 3rd or 4th visit to this restaurant, I certainly see a pattern. The food is always good, the service is absolutely horrible. During each visit, there was a discrepancy between what was ordered and what was received, took way too long to get the food, no refilling on water and, during my last visit, two of us received our dinners 15 minutes after the others at the table had received theirs and, thus, were already finished, but the time we began to eat. I'm a little shocked given the number of good Asian restaurants around, that they can survive. Pros: tasty food Cons: awful service more

Unbelievably rude staff!! 9/14/2005

I find the service and attitude of this restaurant to be so appalling that it needs mentioning. This weekend was our last visit to Champa. The service here is so consistently missing-in-action that it is shocking. Poor service is one thing VIRTUALLY NONEXISTING and BELLIGERENT service is another. Some of the items of concern include: No acknowledgement of customers entering the restaurant Presence of wait staff is extremely inconsistent Excessive time to get your food Incredibly rude attitude of the Manager The fact that this restaurant has remained successful is due to proximity alone in the very busy Brier Creek shopping center. The sushi is acceptable at best. The poor service alone is enough to drive what would be loyal customers away. Is the owner UNAWARE of the image that he and his staff present? I doubt it. The impression is that they just dont care. Pros: location Cons: indifferent staff, horrible service more

Okay food, bad service 8/12/2005

The service here is very poor. We waited over 25 minutes for our sushi to arrive and when it came, the order was wrong. The waitress acted like it was our fault and was unpleasant for the rest of our meal. The sushi was average and overpriced. Even though this is the closest sushi restaurant to my house, I'll be driving the extra distance to avoid this place. more

Check the temperature gauge... 8/3/2005

Warm sushi is not my thing... At least chill the plates or do something that tells me you're trying.. Unimpressive, unoriginal and overpriced. Typical Brier Creek. more

Bill came to TWICE what I expected !! 4/19/2005

Went in to order two sushi rolls with my wife, a bowl of miso soup and hot tea each. The bill came to $26. Yes you read that correctly - 26 dollars for two sushi rolls! After looking at the bill - we were charged $3 each for a bowl of miso soup (usually free or a buck or so), and $4 for tea.. EACH (huh??). Eight dollars for two cups of tea. Worst off - neither of these (tea or soup) were listed on the menu with prices, we simply asked for them, and were never warned of the outrageous price. I felt swindled. The sushi is actually pretty good - a bit expensive, but be careful what you order unless you have a full wallet. There are better places and we will not return. Pros: good sushi, fun atmosphere, conv. location Cons: expensive more
