Hi there! I started working at Chameleon Salon and Day Spa in August, 2010. We have since then moved to a new (and larger!) location...being able to accommodate more clients, provide a much larger selection of services, and have a relaxing atmosphere for all to enjoy! I am sorry for anyone who had a negative experience here at Chameleon Salon, and invite you back to see (and feel!) all of the improvements that we are proud to offer! I have called Chameleon spa a couple of times to make an appointment but they are always to busy. I live a couple blocks away and have wanted to go here regularly but have never been able to make an appointment to even see if I would enjoy going there. more

I keep going back for the relaxation facial with Tracy at Chameleon Salon. It is so relaxing that I feel like going to sleep, but I don't want to because I don't want to miss any of it! I recently tried the non-surgical facelift and that was great, too. My skin felt so smooth and yes, younger. I love the funky little room with the quiet music and the very soothing hands. Very disappointing experience. Was excited to try out the deep cleansing facial during their ""happy hour."" The place was pretty much deserted and I could see why. It was filthy and the room cramped. There was even a dead fly in the sheer drapes above the table I was lying on. The facial was basically a wash and tone which I can do myself at home. No mask, no extractions. The worst part was I was charged full price. I will not be going back. Cons: Dirty more

The Chameleon is a fantastic and fun environment. I've had my hair done by a stylist there named Tracy and she always does a fantastic job! The owner is professional and has a great relationship with her staff. Everyone I've seen leaving the salon with their new hair-do, mani, or pedi always looks happy and satisfied, just like I do. I haven't had any spa treatments there, but I do have an appointment for a brow wax today. I'm confident it will turn out perfect just like my hair always does! I've been going to Chameleon Salon for a couple of years and have always loved my cut and color. I'm not one to want to spend time fussing with my hair on a daily basis though, so Madelyn suggested the brazilian gloss treatment. I'm so happy I had it done. It has made life so much easier. Less than 5 minutes and I'm out the door! I would recommend this salon to anyone. I always have a great time when I'm there and have always been happy with their services. Being new to the NoPo area I was hesitant to jump right in with a new salon. I read the reviews and decided to stop in to make an appointment for a hair cut, eyebrow wax and possibly a pedi. Walking in the floors were dirty. I chalked it up to the weather and proceeded. The salon reminded me of my friends room... when we were 12. Tacky and dirty. The pedi chairs had dust and dirt on them and screamed ""yuck"". There was no way I was willing to chance getting anything. The ""owner"" was eating something that wreaked of garlic (I love garlic but not mixed with hair product scent). All in all I would never return to this ""salon"". I over paid for the service and had to fix my brows when I got home. I'm not one for discount chains but I would go to supercuts before visiting here again. I was lucky enough to try Chameleon over a year ago, when I first moved to the area. Usually I see Madelyn, although I've had other stylists perform cuts and color when Madelyn is booked and they've done a great job. I've been trying to grow out a short haircut and she always remembers this and never cuts my hair too short. Pros: Laid back, friendly, great cuts and color Cons: Getting too popular! ; ) more

Chameleon Salon is a hidden treasure in N. Portland. They use top of the line products, including Paul Mitchell Color and OPI nail products. They even have Vegan nail polish! Ever since I've been going to Madelyn I've been getting compliments on my hair color. The prices are in line with other salons of this caliber, however, they have ""happy hour"" prices between noon and 4 pm, send out emails for last minute deals (20% off), have really great referral programs and even have a punch card where you can earn a free pedicure or haircut after a certain number of visits. This salon is the greatest! Extremely professional and nice environment. Giselle and Madelyn are both amazing; I constantly get comments regarding how great my hair looks! :) Great products as well; my hair actually feels healthier after I get my highlights done..(if that's even possible!) If you haven't been there, you should go...it's definitely worth your time and money. more

I've been going to Chameleon for the past year, and people frequently comment on how great my hair looks. I usually work with the Madelyn, and she is always on time, gives me her full attention, and works with me to give me a great cut and color. I can't recommend her salon highly enough. I'm what you would call a hair-care-slacker. Meaning: I like to get my hair cut very infrequently and wait until it is almost beyond saving before I get into a salon. That being said, when I do get in, I want a really great hair cut that is not only going to be super cute, but that is able to grow out and STAY looking great for months and months. Every time I've gone to Chameleon I have not only gotten an amazing hair cut, but NO GUILT for neglecting my hair. I've been taught the easy tricks for the lazy hair-care girl, and have enjoyed great conversation, fun music, complementary wine if I wanted, and top notch service. I can't get over how cute all the refurbished vanity stations are, as well as the little sofa and chair in the waiting area. If you're looking for the results of a super fancy over-priced salon, without the over-price, or the lack of character, this is a gem worth trying out. The staff is really helpful in helping to match you with the best stylist for your hair type and needs so make sure you ask and describe what you're looking for and you may find a stylist to keep for life. My friend and I both went in the same day and got the same package done, I was charged more for my visit than she was, when I realized it, I told the manager, she said she cannot do anything about it. It was the most stupid conversation I have ever had, how can you charge 2 clients different prices for doing the exact same thing and think thats okay?? INSANE! Never will i go back. I love this place! I've only been twice. I had my hair cut in September before I moved and as June was coming to an end I was in desperate need of a haircut. I braved up and look up local salons. Chameleon was closest to my house, and affordable. They have a great website and I used the photos to get an idea of each stylists, uh, style. I decided to schedule an appointment with Madelyn. I got too antsy and made ANOTHER appointment for a week before. I went in and she chopped off all my hair. They schedule you for an hour so you get a wash and lots of time. I liked my hair but it wasn't perfect, I wrote to the salon and right away (after hours even) Madelyn emailed me back and told me I could make an appointment. She guarantees her cuts so my 2nd appointment was free. Even though it was really me not really describing what I wanted. So I went in again and she chopped off even more bits and pieces of hair. My hair went from the longest it's been in a while to the shortest it's been in years. Pretty dramatic! But I LOVE it! It's perfect! I can blow-dry it straight and sleek or I can let it air dry for some waves. I've never been able to let my hair air dry and look normal. The salon it's self is cool and chic without being too much. It's got lots of nice natural light and all the girls there make you feel really welcome! Both times I went in I waited for a few minutes and was able to just hop into conversation and not feel like I was intruding. The only downsize is parking is kinda weird, there's not really a lot anywhere, maybe it's just where I'm from, but street parking is always a little off to me. But because it's small they don't seem to have a ton of people in there and I've had no trouble finding a parking spot. If you can get there you should! All the girls are great and helpful. And it's not insanely pricey, they usual 35 bucks a hair cut type thing. It is great, give it a try, even if you don't know who best fits you just stop bye and chat, they're the best! Excellent style without sacrificing a comfortable environment. It's important to me to not be talked down to as a customer and to feel like I'm among nice people - not just those out to make a few bucks chopping hair. The ladies at Chameleon Salon have been above and beyond wonderful, even fixing the mistake of a less-than-super stylist. Affordable, too! I'm going back again... and again and again. My curly hair makes me particularly sensitive to a new stylist. I'm always dreading that the person has no idea what they're doing and will cut too much of my hair off not realizing it's going to shrink up when dry. Giselle listened to my concerns and worked with me to combine two styles I had brought in. She also took into consideration how much time I wanted to spend fussing with my hair in the morning. I absolutely love it and have a had many compliments on my new do, I will definately be back to see her. Pros: Very relaxed and fun atmosphere.
