Best

at least in my opinion, this place has a good blend of price and value. Love their dishes, for dine in or take out. Be sure not to miss this place!

Worst

After having been disappointed one too many times, I decided to take Chaat Cafe off of my list of casual restaurants to go to. The first time I tried Chaat Cafe, it was good and ...

Good indian fast food, 6/6/2008

The wraps are good and my favourite is the Desiwrap. I go there for the food and not particularly for the ambience which could do with a touch up. Great for takeout. Service is average but so is the price. Its definitely a fast food place so dont go with expectations of a sit down restaurant. Pros: Good food Cons: Fast food ambience more

Goodness, the haters out there. 1/28/2008

Oh, how I love:\r \r 1) The chicken wraps, \r 2) The butter chicken curry, and\r 3) The gas during the car ride home. \r \r And that is it. 4 out of 5 stars baby. I will return. Pros: The pictures of famous Indian actors Cons: I don't know who any of them are more

Not recommended 6/20/2007

I didn't care for this place, at all. The food is bland, the menu choices are not many, the service is poor and the prices are not good. For $10.00, you get rice, a curry dish and naan, which is ridiculous considering the number of excellent Indian out there, charging less that $9 for all-you-can-eat buffet lunches. Also, the ambience is non-existent. The place is not warm and inviting like most Indian restaurants I've been to. I will not be going back. more

Not Recommended. 6/20/2007

I went to this restaurant based on previous reviews (i.e. ""best Indian in Fremont""). I could not disagree more. First of all, it is not a cafe or a restaurant, rather an Indian Fast Food joint. Can you say lack of atmosphere? The food is uninspiring, greasy, and bland (particularly the naan, but the rice wasn't bad). My dish came a while after my dining companion, and my glass was dirty. The service was poor/sullen. Pros: Parking. Cons: Food, Service, Value, Ambience. more

I keep coming back for the food... 3/21/2006

Upbeat place with great indian food. I can't stay away! more

Probably the best indian in the bay area 3/20/2006

Casual, cheap and ridiculously good. Service isn't the best, but the food comes out hot and pretty fast. Tamarind chutney is my new favorite condiment. Pros: food more

Loud Managers/Owners 1/28/2006

The Managers or owners whoever they were, were there with their kids who would not stop running around and screaming their heads off. Food was good, two dinners for $20, would consider going back if it was the only place open. Pros: good food, ok price Cons: management more

Wow! 12/30/2005

I have never had an Indian meal quite like this. Professional and modern setting, fast service and delicious food. What a great place! Even good for non-adventurous kids. more

Still the best! 12/1/2005

Have been eating at Chaat Cafe for 3 years and it remains the best Indian restaurant in Fremont, and the long lines will attest to that. Usually packed with south asians, the food is the best outside of delhi. My favorite items are samosa's, keema naan and pakoras. The butter chicken is good also, but only available certain days. The naan, in general, is amazing, whether it be stuffed with meat or veggies or eaten plain with a curry. Pros: food, prices, patio more

Not a Quality foods 11/24/2005

Me and my family couldn't digest this food and suffered whole night with bad feeling Cons: Cheap Quality more

Poor quality ingredients. Gone downhill. 10/31/2005

After having been disappointed one too many times, I decided to take Chaat Cafe off of my list of casual restaurants to go to. The first time I tried Chaat Cafe, it was good and I was happy to have an indian restaurant nearby to go to. But over the last year, I have not had a good meal at Chaat. I kept hoping that I just had bad luck a few times with the food, but I'll no longer go there. The ingredients are poor. The Fremont restaurant makes their food way too spicy to even enjoy. Fatty questionable chicken meat in their wraps. Naan is always chewy, not soft. They've really gone downhill!! I don't understand why people still rave about this place. On top of that, the service is bad, their utensils/plates never seem clean enough, and atmosphere is poor. Pros: cheap, fast Cons: poor quality food, bad service, bad atmosphere more

Long time favorite 7/14/2005

I have been bringing my family here since we moved to fremont 3 years ago and the food and service have remained excellent. Though the outside staff isn't the friendliest, they are fast and the food just can't be beat. Each curry has a nice distinct flavor, not like a lot of places that use the same sauce and just add ingredients and change the name of the dish. And their is no buffet so the food always tastes fresh. Very hectic in the late evening, but still a good casual place for families. more

Simply the best. 6/8/2005

I was a little weary of trying an Indian chain restaurant, but the reviews on citysearch convinced me to give it a try and boy am I glad I did! This is the best of the locationsthat I've tried, there are nine in all. You can always feel comfortable eating at an Indian restaurant so full of indian people. more

Good Indian food 5/30/2005

Fun, fast, atmosphere for a quick lunch or casual dinner. The naan is the best ever, crispy on the outside and soft and chewy inside, and the curries are full of flavor. Plenty of veg or non-veg options. Pros: crowded and fun, cheap, delicious more

A true indian experience! 5/24/2005

We tried the Chaat Cafe in San Ramon and were very turned off by the service and food, but at the advice of some indian co-workers, who claimed Chaat Cafe in Fremont is the closet thing to a real Indian restaurant in the staes, I tried out Chaat cafe in Fremont for dinner last friday night at it was quite an experience. The staff ws very very knowledgable, not the best at english, yet they helped us order a great meal. We also appreciated that they did not take advantage of our naivity and make us over order as other restaurants have done. The food itself was nothing less than spectacular, hot fresh chicken stuffed naan, the best samosas in town and a couple of delicious curries served on colorful flatware by hustling and bustling servers that were working a room packed with peope of all backgrounds. Pros: Hot Stuffed Naan, Curries, Atmosphere more

Hands down the best! 5/20/2005

I've been to tens of of Indian restaurants in the fremont area and Chaat Cafe is hands down the best! The don't have a buffet like most places, everything is cooked fresh and the portions are adequate though not huge. The Chicken tikka can be overcooked at times, but that seems to be standard at indian restaurants, but the lemony flavor here is unbeatable. The naans are the highlight of the menu, whether stuffed with spicy lamb or basil chicken, or wrapped with tandoori meat. The curries are also delicious, not too oily and well spiced so you can actually enjoy the meal. Don't miss thios spot! Pros: naan, wraps Cons: lines more

A nice find 5/16/2005

Fremont has a huge Indian-american population and chaat cafe demonstartes this fact. At times the place overflows with customers. But the service is quick and the food is well worth the chaos. The restaurant is relatively clean and service has gotten much better in the last 3 months or so. They share an outdoor patio with starbucks, which is a great place to graze with the chess players and coffee drinkers during the warm summer nights. Pros: patio, food, atmosphere Cons: lines more

Little India 5/11/2005

This place is fabulous. Go on a friday or saturday evening and you may think your in Delhi. The place has a cool modern vibe with authentic flavors, and it is packed with Indian-Americans chowin down on some great, spicy, Indian food. The wait staff doesn't speak great english, but the prices are reasonable and the food is wonderful. The Samosa's are great as are any of the stuffed breads, and the wraps are great especially if you have kids who fuss over anything ethnic. This is the best Indian spot I've found yet. Pros: Great Food, lively atmosphere, ample parking Cons: long line on weekends more

Best Indian food in the bay Area 5/9/2005

Fremont Chaat Cafe really is like little india. There are a lot of restaurants with similar menus but none can match the food and atmosphere at this place, even the other chaat cafes aren't as good. It's in a busy shopping center between starbucks and noahs bagels and it is pretty crowded all day everyday... and for good reason. Top dishes are butter chicken, fish pakoras and choley bhature. Pros: food, outdoor seating Cons: crowded more
