Cat Specialist

Part of my New Years Resolutions was to give thanks where due. So here goes: I owe the nurses and Dr. Olson at Cat Specialist a bid THANKS!! They helped me and my kitty through a tough time. Peanuts had an ugly growth on her face that literally came up OVERNIGHT. They removed it using the laser, were sure that Peanut had generous pain control. She has made a full recovery and now she is beautiful again. You guys really care and it hasn't gone unnoticed! Although, with any luck we'll only see ya once or twice a year - no offense. more

There are not enough accolades to express the praise that we have for this veterinary hospital. We have been using their services for 5 plus years after we heard of them being a feline only clinic and the fact that we have a special needs cat. In that time we have worked with the owner, Dr. Jim Olson, and his daughter, Dr. Jenny Olson. They both have the utmost interest in our cats and the bedside manner and communicating skills are exceptional. Their staff are always there to help and operate the clinic in a very professional and accommodating way. We have used their boarding ""atriums"" for our two cats because we want them to have the best accommodations when possible. more

Going to the vet used to be a miserable experience for both BonBon and myself . . . and then we found Cat Specialist! They prescribed a medication to help with BonBon's car sickness, they were sweet and gentle, and they cleaned up her carrier when we arrived when she had an accident (thank you!). She likes to hunker in the sink in the exam room, but nonetheless seems much less stressed here. I will only take my kitty here! more

The first time I took one of my kitties to Cat Specialist it was because I had read about their radio-iodine treatment for hyperthyroidism in the paper. I had a cat that had been diagnosed by another vet has having hyperthyroidism. She was about 7 years old and was losing weight rapidly and was not responding at all to the medication. I took her to Dr. Olson and within a week she was gaining weight and lived to the old age of 18!! I have taken all my kitties to Dr. Olson since then and would never take any of my cats anywhere else. I had two Maine Coon cats that both had congenital heart issues. He worked with their prescriptions until he came up with a combination that halted further deterioration. Dr. Olson and his staff LOVE cats and will take the time to talk to you about concerns or just to talk about cats in general. My cats are very calm when they are there and I never feel they are stressed out. An added bonus are the very cool and beautiful office cats that hang out at the front desk. \r \r If you are lucky enough to live within driving distance of Cat Specialist, take your cats there!! more

I am truly grateful to Cat Specialist for the help they have given me and my family. I inherited two sick cats when my father died, and thanks to Dr. Olson they are now happy healthy little critters. I was very impressed with how quickly we were able to get what they needed done. For example, Ricky needed a dental and MANY tooth extractions. This was identified during his first visit, and they just went ahead and did bloodwork, heart screening, and the dental the same day. This was wonderfully efficient and saved us from cat herding to return on a separate day. And Miss Lucy had almost daily vomiting. An ultrasound later and we found intestinal disease that she is now being treated for . . . and we aren't cleaning cat vomit off the carpets any more! We are very happy customers! more

My regular vet referred my cat here for I-131 treatment for hyperthyroidism. I was very impressed with the facility and the warm professionalism. When we arrived, we were greeted by name, taken to a clean quiet exam room, where we meet Dr. Olson. He did an exam on Tigger and then went through a PowerPoint presentation on the disease and the treatment - wow! I wish my own doctor would take that much time with me!!! Tigger is doing great post-treatment and has already gained back 1# in weight he had lost. Thanks for the helping our boy. more

Simply put - I have always received professional and compassionate care for my cats here. I would recommend them to everyone :) Also, it's nice to be able to pick-up and drop-off for boarding on Saturdays! more

I think Jennifer is the daughter (and also a vet) - but this is a review about Mr. Dr. Olson.\r Dr. Olson has taken care of my cats for over a decade. Examples of the excellent care he has always provided are too numerous to list in their entirety. With various cats, we have been through heart problems, kidney failure, liver disease, cancer and a host of less serious illnesses. Dr. Olson's diagnostic skills are top-notch. He combines the art and science of veterinary medicine using the latest technology, keen observation, careful history taking, methodical exploration of possibilities and plain common sense. One of my cats lived to be 21 years old and another to 19. Both enjoyed additional quality years because of Dr. Olson's diagnostic and treatment skills. Plus, he truly loves cats and it shows. From Dr. Olson's unassuming manner, you would never suspect that he is a nationally renowned feline specialist and has written publications and book chapters. He has a great ""bedside manner"" and like to teach cat owners how to manage their cats' illness at home. When one of my older cats died in her sleep and again when another had to be euthanized, Dr. Olson and his staff were wonderful. I could not have asked for more caring, compassionate and understanding people. The staff is helpful, returns calls promptly, issues reminders, and follows through with whatever is requested of them. I recommend Cat Specialist without reservation. more

My kitty got sick (read: profuse vomiting) while our regular vet was out of town, so we were in a hurry to have her seen. We got an appointment the same day and I was impressed with the place - enough to write a review at least. While it may not be the cheapest vet, I felt there was value in the service. It seemed like Dr. Olson did reasonable but not excessive tests (I was worried about that from a specialist). He personally called the next day to report results and shared all of the records with our regular vet. Pleasant experience and my kitty is better now! more

I just had to move away from Colorado, and sadly that meant leaving Dr. Olson and the wonderful staff at Cat Specialist. They have taken care of our kitty Pico since he was a kitten. He had a few injuries and illnesses over the years and I have always been able to get an appointment promptly, the staff is warm and caring, and Dr. Olson never makes us feel rushed. When Pico had an ultrasound - we got to see the photos! Basically, if you are lucky enough to be within driving distance of this place, take your four-legged family member there . . . you won't regret it! more

Hands down, best cat vet we've ever been to! Dr. Olson has helped Max with his kidney disease and always been open to discussing the best way to approach his ""golden years!"" Go see the wonderful team at Cat Specialist - we always get excellent care and they will be our vet for life! more
