Beautiful ocean view, interesting mix of locals and toursists and good consistent lunch and dinner fare. Lobster ravioli is excellent. Good entertainment. I eat here all the time when in town. Can't go wrong. more

Very disappointing! Unflavorful throughout. Wahoo was " fishy ". The crab cakes were old crab and breading.... Very bland!!! If you are accustomed to New Orleans food you will be rudely awakened to this seafood. more

I was in Fort Lauderdale a few days with a friend and stayed within walking distance of Casablanca. We had drinks and appetizers here one night, and dinner another. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere superb--we had to wait a while for an outdoor table, but it was well worth the wait. After dinner, we enjoyed the Piano Bar. What a fun time we had! more

Very Good 12/13/2008

Located right across the beach, this place has a nice view. You can eat inside or out on the terrace. A little on the high side with prices, but the food is good. more

Our hotel was right 10/28/2008

Our hotel recommended casablanca after a few failed attempts on our own to find a nice dinner on the beach. we really enjoyed it! the atmosphere was a strange mix of fine restaurant, busy diner, and nightclub. downstairs, it was loud and crowded, with a band playing and a lively bar -- but we sat on an upstairs balcony which was quiet and romantic with an excellent view of the ocean. The menu was excellent, with a great variety. It was heavy on fish -- no surprise in florida, but there were several pasta dishes, duck, lamb, and four different steaks to chose from as well. As an appetizer, we had a shrimp cocktail, and our server suggested we pour a shot of Ketel 1 citron over it. I will never eat shrimp cocktail any other way now! We also had calamari, which was big enough to share, light and crisp, and served with a light butter sauce instead of marinara. For dinner I had pumpkin crusted wahoo, and my friend had flank steak served with salsa and polenta.I was surprised by how much I liked the wahoo and the portions were an excellent value. And instead of a traditional dessert, our server suggested a ""dessert flavored cocktail"" -- a banana split martini! They sure like to drink there! But speaking of our server, we also got one thing we couldn't find anywhere else on the beach -- actual service. The service was friendly and fun but still efficient and attentive, our table was kept clean and our silverware kept fresh. Our server knew the menu inside and out his suggestions were dead on. And what's more, everyone in the restaurant from the batenders to the bus boys boys made us feel like they'd known us for years even though we had never been there before. We hope the day comes when they have known us for years! Pros: Great food, service, fun Cons: crowded, noisy (except upstairs) more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 11/26/2007

I don't know what it is about South Florida restaurants, but it's very difficult to have a consistently good experience. Casablanca Cafe is no exception. I first dined there in 2004 and had a great experience -- reasonable, flavorful food, courteous, knowledgeable staff, and fabulous service. In the few years I've lived in South Florida, I've gone back to Casablanca Cafe several times, and it seems each time gets a little less fabulous. \r \r The restored 1920s house where the restaurant is located is beautiful, but you can definitely tell there's a bit of nagging schizophrenia in terms of ambience -- the inconsistent service and stagnant menu make you think the restaurant is nothing more than a beach hangout. But the well-executed food implies something grander.\r \r Don't let the name fool you -- there is nothing "Morroccan" about Casablanca Cafe, least of all the food. Don't get me wrong -- the food is good. Is it as good as the first time I visited in 2004? No. These days, it's merely "all right." I think the chef has hit a comfort zone and doesn't seem inclined to emerge if he can help it. As well, service and staff seem to be a little too familiar and relaxed (e.g. lackadaisical). \r \r Like many South Florida restaurants, Casablanca Cafe has been plagued off and on with poor management and apathetic staff. I think it's on the cusp of being so plagued again. more

GREAT FOOD, OK SERVICE 8/29/2007

Our service wasn't bad, perse. I'm a waiter, so i know what its like to be busy. A little on the slow side at the beginning, but it was worth the wait. Excellent food all around, good and probably above average service, very busy restaurant. Great dining experience overall Pros: great food, great view of beach, nice atmosphere Cons: busy, loud more

Wonderful Atmosphere - Ocean View 7/7/2006

I work a t the Pillars Hotel just down the hill from the cafe...We send our guest to Casablanca all the time..It is the best restaurant on this stretch of A1A..We ALWAYS get a rave revies from our guests!!..the food is always fantastic..the view is great the upstairs is very romantic.....the outside patio can be really loud it seems voices echo off the walls...I suggest upstairs or on the balcony upstairs..or the elevated section to the left of the entrance....and the fried Calamari is the best I've ever had...Thomas Gibson more

Great place for a celebration!! 5/17/2006

We recently had a graduation celebration here and it was a fantastic success!! It was 21 people and we had a huge table in the upstairs dining room. The ambience was beautiful. The food was outstanding. The wait staff was absolutely wonderful, professional, friendly and efficient. We had alot of specific requests and they were carried out flawlessly. The only complaint I had: I wish management would've taken the time to make an effort to greet us, make sure everything was going smoothly and thank us for our business. But all in all..Casablanca Cafe is superb!! Pros: Romantic, Great Food, Great Service more

Highly recommend this restaurant 2/9/2006

Very nice atmosphere cafe 11/17/2005

This cafe is on the beach with very nice views. It's very cute place looks like a spanish house from the outside, where the best seats are on the terrace so you can see the view. The menu is a bit pricy but if you can afford it I would definatly go. Their seafood is really good. The service was perfect. The beauty is the view. Definatly try it atleast once. PROS: nice views CONS: more

Casablanca Cafe ~ Great Food, So-so Service 7/20/2005

On the main stretch of Lauderdale Beach between the 17th street causeway and Sunrise there are two distinct districts. To the south is the uppity touristy crowd, to the north the less expensive hotels and shopping. In between the two areas is a short stretch with little there right now. It's a nice walk in the cool summer evening, and right in the center of that pseudo-empty stretch is a little place called the Casablanca Cafe. They do have an inside, but most of the seating is outside on the terrace, on two levels, and all seats have great ocean views. Smoking is allowed out here, but not inside. At first glance prices may seem a bit high to some folks, but really they're right in line with the rest of the beach establishments, if not actually a bit less. Plus, if you remember to ask them for the Lunch Special, it gets even better. You see, if you're in the know, you can buy one meal, and get the second one free here. You do have to both buy a beverage, but ice tea works. I alwa more

Dining at Casablanca Cafe will transport you to another time and place. The food is good, the atmosphere great, and the service outstanding.
