Carrburritos 4/24/2010

The burritos are made with fresh, tasty ingredients and aren't too expensive considering the large portion size. However, every time I've gone there the staff has been either blatantly rude or just noticeably surly/snobbish...this has definitely deterred me from going back Pros: Good food, not too expensive Cons: Rude staff more

Staff is incredibly rude 12/19/2008

I will never eat at this dump again. Two different members of the staff were extremely rude to me, the glasses were filthy and the food was so-so, at best. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other dozens of Mexican restaurants in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area. more

Burrito joint with a twist 5/26/2008

Carrburritos was one of the places I was told I had to go to when I moved up here. It's a local favorite, and with the large variety of unique ingredients (seafood, sweet potatoes) along with typical favorites, it doesn't disappoint. In fact, the food is so exceptional, including a slew of salsa options, that it would be an perfect restaurant if not for... 1) Drinks. I don't know about you, but a can of soda or a cup of water is not enough beverage to get me through a meal. The lack of a fountain means getting every mile out of that 12oz drink, buying another, or waiting for the overworked staff to pour you another glass of water. 2) Ambience. This is sort of a wash because the quaint atmosphere, including the grotto-esque outdoor seating is pleasant. Still, the place is cramped and gets extremely loud during high traffic times. 3) Clientele. If you spend much time in Carrboro then you probably understand where I'm going, but it's worth mentioning to visitors from out of town. Without fail, you will encounter at least one group of people who will make you want to bash your skull into a wall. I've sat next to couples/groups who have spent an entire lunch discussing the quality of trays, congratulating each other on being able to correctly pronounce Chorizo, or arrogantly pontificating on current events. Like I said, it's a cramped seating area and you're going to have to listen to these people. Your best bet is to get this great food and book it out of there to enjoy in the privacy of your home/work/what have you. Pros: Wonderful burrito joint food, great variety, great value Cons: Crowded, getting refills on water/salsa can be a chore, no fountain drinks, patrons more

Great guac and great salsa. 4/7/2008

I wouldn't go so far as to say this is the BEST Mexican restaurant around, but the food is tasty and the atmosphere is lively. I've been there 5 times with different sized groups each time, and I've ordered something different each time. They have a friendly and helpful staff, and a nice place to hang out. Their salsas are out of this world! Pros: Great salsa. more

third time was a charm 8/29/2007

This is a very trendy place to eat in Carrboro/Chapel Hill. Although there was a fly in my lettuce the first time I visited Carrburitos, friends insisted that I give them another try. Second time, no insects but my food was rather bland and unimpressive. I was ready to give up. Third time, I went all out and got the mejor burrito and I have to say it was a much better experience. The salsas made in-house are very good, as are the flour tortilla chips. As a warning though, the staff can be a little impatient with inexperienced orderers, so know what you want! Pros: trendy, has a nice little patio Cons: impatient staff, always in a rush more

best mexican food! 4/28/2007

this is one of the best mexican restaurants....the food here is very fresh...their salsas are great...i often like to order a big plate with all their sides...their guacamole is excellent...as are their flour chips...a big drawback as a vegetarian is that they use their cuttingboards to cut up meat and then make vege burritos on the very same boards.....wish they were more 'vege-friendly' in terms of keeping a separate area somehow for making their vegetarian food and making sure that those who prepared food washed their hands in between handling meat... Pros: food Cons: cleanliness more

Amazing Carmelized Onion & Potato Burrito! 2/1/2007

This place is incredibly good--the food is fresh, the staff are great, and the range of fresh salsas is out of this world! I recently moved out of the area, but when I'm back in town this is the first place I go. I especially love the carmelized onion and potato burrito, light on the black beans, heavy on the fixings...I could live on them. Note to Carrburitos: open an NYC branch! Pros: great food, nice patio, relaxed, casual atmosphere, great staff, delicious salsas & burritos more

One of my favorite area restaurants 1/18/2006

Carrburritos offers a near perfect combination of good food, low prices, and good atmosphere. The flour tortillas are great, and all of the burritos are excellent. Excellent ingredients and food quality for the price - the staff seems to take a lot of pride in what they do. The only drawback is that the line can be very long during busy times. Very friendly staff (especially Gail, who I believe is the owner). Pros: Excellent food, low prices, cool, arty atmosphere Cons: long line, limited seating more

The best quick ""fresh"" Mexican in town! 7/10/2005

Been going for five years. Fresh is the best way to describe the food. Clean and fresh! Pros: fresh, value, fresh Cons: limited parking more

Forget the burritos. Carrburritos' flour chips are heaven on earth! (Ok, the burritos are pretty darn good too.) more

Great Food / Great Price 9/20/2004

As other reviewers have said, Carrburritos has the best burritos in downtown Chapel Hill/Carrboro. It is a little farther than most other downtown restaurants but worth the trip. The ingredients are fresh and the prices are low. I reccommend the home-made chorizo, though I wish it were a tad spicier. Carrburritos also has several varieties of salsa for you to chose from which go great with the corn and flour chips. My only complaint is that it can be very busy around dinner and the line is sometimes out the door, so you may want to call ahead. Pros: Fresh, Low Prices, Outside Seating more

You've gotta love it 7/8/2004

It's not fancy, but the buttitos are great and the price is right. The quality of the ingredients is high, and I like the build-your-own approach. It's different and a great valuue. Pros: , good food at a greaet more

GOOD but stay away from the ceviche 2/18/2004

For fast food Tex/Mex, this is very good. Fresh authentic tacos with lots of tomatoes and lettuce on the side. I practically had to beg for a shot of salsa though... Stick with the Tex/Mex food. Don't even try the ceviche or any fish products for that matter unless you like your fish smelly and gray-colored. Pros: tacos, burritos, quick service Cons: , parking more

Deserving of more press 8/19/2003

This is the best burrito locale in the Triangle bar none. While Cosmic Cantina, Baja Burrito, and Moe's are all good, Carrburritos blows them away. The portions are large, the all flour chips are heavenly, and the ingredients are fresh. The restaurant has a funky/alternative decor and service staff. This restaurant deserves more press. Pros: Taste, Ingredient freshness, Value Cons: Crowded at times, Parking sparce more

Beyond the Cosmos 8/11/2003

The best ""fast food"" burritos in the Triangle, and arguably the best local burritos period. Flavorful, fresh ingredients, including a wide variety of homemade salsas, and good value, make this among the best bets around for a quick bite to eat. All you Cosmic Cantina diehards out there, give Carrburritos a try... you won't be disappointed, and the value is at least as good. Pros: Fresh and flavorful, Quick, Inexpensive Cons: Sometimes crowded more

great burritos in Carrboro 6/13/2002

Although easy to miss, this is the best palce to grab a quick burrito in Chapel Hill and in Carrboro. Excelent home-made guacamole. Good top shelf margaritas. Always quick service. more
