We actually had a great experience with Carpet Mart in York, PA. The sales staff were very helpful and did their best to save us money. We bought carpet and had it installed for a very low cost compared to other places. more

Rather than pay the several hundred dollar furniture moving fee, we decided to move our own furniture back into the kitchen after our laminate flooring was installed. We followed the given instructions, and the new floor tore in several places. Carpet Mart refused to do anything about it, and told us it was our fault for moving the furniture, and the warranty was now no good. The installer (a subcontractor for Carpet Mart) felt sorry for us and came and made some repairs on his own. We also have had difficulty with estimates. If one salesperson tells us something, and we begin to move forward, another will tell us something different. After having two bad experiences, we have learned our lesson. We will not use this store again. more

This is my first time buying a home, so nervously I did some research on the net to find flooring companies. Well, my friend recommened me to go to CM because he had such a wonderful experience there. I have read your comments and I am thankful that I did not listen to these. I went there found out on my own. Pros: They know what they are doing. more

Innial quote with my very accurate measuremts was $1,483.00. Their quote the day before installation: $2,400.00!!!!! Pros: Installers were decent. Cons: Sales person not so bright! more

I have to say this is the WORST EXPERIENCE i have ever had with a retail store. Before i tell you the full low down on this company i want to tell you i was a prior customer of Carpet Mart in Lancaster for many years and NEVER HAD A PROBLEM *** the YORK STORE IS ANOTHER WHOLE ISSUE WHICH I AM GOING TO SHARE WITH YOU AND HOPE THIS WILL TEACH YOU A LESSON TO BE VERY CAREFUL OF THE SALES PERSON AND HANDING OUT MONEY AHEAD OF TIME>>> I visited Carpet Mart in York last week and the Asst Mgr (will not mention her name ) waited on me. I was buying hardwood floors for my house . She also coaxed me into new carpet for my stairs to the second floor. My husband gave her great measurements and she added things up. When she quoted me a price it sounded great and i agreeded to give her half the money down in a form of a personal check. *** I total understood there could be some differences in price as the estimator had to come out and i would have to add to the price quoted for little things like moldings*** The asst mgr promised that they estimator would be at my house at 1pm the next day and they would have a total for me by night time. The next morning my phone rang and it was the estimator changing the time as he had a big job that day. We agreeded on 11am. Well 11am came and another call this went on for several hours through the day and finally the estimator came at 4pm. I never heard from the store that night as promised either. I waited until noon the following day and called and ask for my sales person who is the asst mgr at the York store i had given my name when the person answered the phone as they asked who i was . The asst mgr got on the phone and DID NOT EVEN KNOW WHO I WAS SHE DID NOT RECOGNIZE my name she said "" please help me to remember "" When i explained who i was and asked her why i did not hear back she said the estimator did not get back to her and i said to her you promised me that YESTERDAY I WOULD HAVE A FULL TOTAL. She said the estimator would be in at 2 and she would call me then . At 3pm when i did not hear back i called her again and she said they we working on it and she would call right back. This went on until 4:30 THEN I CALLED AND GAVE HER HECK AND TOLD HER HOW ANGRY I WAS AT THIS GAME BEING PLAYED. ***WELL FOLKS HERE'S THE KICKER SHE CALLED ME BACK TEN MINUTES LATER AND MY NEW TOTAL WAS $2400.00 MORE THAN THE QUOTE*** The NEW BILL WAS PADDED WITH THINGS LIKE MOVING THE REFRIGERATOR AND STOVE OUT AND NONSENSE LIKE THAT She told me HOW SORRY SHE WAS LOL I told her at that time i would like my check back for her gross mistake AND SHE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT FOR CORPORATE TO GIVE ME THE MONEY BACK AND THAT COULD TAKE UP TO 2 WEEKS. WHAT NERVE AND GALL AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE OF HIGHER AUTHORITY SINCE I FOLDED ON THE PROJECT IT WAS LIKE I NEVER EXISTED.. I have stopped my check with the bank and i am not only calling corporate on Monday i am calling the Attorney generals office for HOW BAD I WAS MISTREATED BUT THIS COMPANY This is a sad true story.. I also want to add these people charge YOUR FOR AN ESTIMATE and if you buy from they they take if off your final bill ***THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER FLOOR COMPANIES IN YORK COUNTY THAT WILL GIVE YOU A FREE ESTIMATE TRY THEM FIRST DON'T BE RIPPED OFF BY THIS COMPANY THEY ARE TRULY THE WORST!! We bought carpet and ceramic tiles from Carpet Mart. It was a nightmare. When the installer installed the carpet he must not of measured and cut it correctly. He ended up piecing a 6"" patch next to the original seam giving us two seems 6"" apart right down the middle of the room, and the seems were VERY visible. He also started installing the tile section and didn't have enough of the colored grout to complete the job. He came back days later and finished the grouting, but the grout didn't match the grout of the first day. Meanwhile, we call the manager of Carpet mart and told him of our displeasure at the two bad seams in the carpet. The manager finally agreed to take a look at it, and when he did he agreed it was not a good job. He said at this point the only thing he can do is replace the carpet. Of course they didn't have the carpet we picked, so had to go with another carpet. The same installer came back, tore out the bad carpet, carried in one of 3 rolls of the new carpet, came to our door and told my daughter he pulled his shoulder out carrying the roll and couldn't finish the job, and left with the other rolls of carpet. The manager got another carpet installer to get the other rolls, bring them to our house and finish laying the carpet. The new installer told my daughter he did the best he could but you can still see the seam and left. I went down to look at it when I got home and it looked like a big zipper going down the middle of the carpet, it looked worse then the first one. I called the manager who looked at it again, and said it was a good installation and wasn't going to fix it. I called carpet marts competition, Weckers in York PA, and they sent out a man who fixed the seam in about 2 hours at a cost to us of over $200. He not only matched the seam, but also fixed a gap by the wall from the carpet mart installation. We paid over $4000 for the carpet and tile, just for a basement, and the workmanship was terrible!
