Best

This is the place to go for the true Mexican food lover. They also remodeled the place. This place is outstanding, and it has a full bar, and this place can party too.

You're kidding right ? 7/28/2011

I used to work for an electronics plant in Roseville and the gang all went here to Carmelita's regularly until we read they got shut down for using cat, yes CAT in the recipe. The gay guy I worked with on the line at the time ran to the bathroom when we read him the article in the local newspaper. I've never gone back. Cat....really. yah really. enjoy more

Carmelita's Mexican Restaurant is not what it used to be. 12/30/2009

Carmelita's USED to be good before their renovation a number of years ago but the quality of the food has declined remarkably since. Wait staff is not as friendly, food is not as good, and the outstanding margaritas (by pitcher or glass) are no longer to be had. Too bad. This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant for years -- now I go to the little taqueria's in the area. Better food and better prices. more

Best Mexican food east of the Sacramento River 10/1/2007

As with any business, Carmelitas's should ensure that only their most customer oriented, best spoken, and pleasant staff are assigned to answer phones, interact with their customers and ensure that they provide consistant responses to issues like "reservations". more

Long time favorite! 6/22/2007

Our family and friends have been coming to Carmelitas for over 20 years and it is our favorite. The staff are always friendly and helpful, no matter how busy they are. The food is always excellent (our top favorites are the chicken chimichanga and the avacado tacos for the veg-heads) and usually on your table before you can drink even half of their dangerously good margaritas! If you go to Carmelitas on a Friday or Saturday night, make sure you get a table on the patio, they usually have a Mariachi band that just makes it feel as if you've been transported to Mexico for the night! Looking for a fun and inexpensive mexican restaurant?....Carmelitas is the place! Pros: Ambience, food, prices, and service. Cons: Parking can get pretty ugly and on the weekends, so can the wait. more

Live music and a great patio with a view 8/28/2006

Owner Message
  • Alberto and Carmen Heredia began their journey in the 40's, as migrant workers in this country. Their drive and work ethic paved the way for their lasting legacy. The first Carmelita's was established in 1962, in Roseville, CA. The Heredia's contributions to the developing community as well as fresh delicious meals, made Carmelita's a favorite in the area. After more than two decades of dedication, they passed the torch down to their son, Clemente. Together with his wife Rosalba, they carried on the family tradition. In 1987, the Heredia family opened the doors to a second location in Fair Oaks, CA, where they were met with local embrace. Public support has made this establishment a long standing member of the Fair Oaks locale. Clemente Heredia and his family have created a unique place to enjoy food, drink, and company.. Fine Mexican Dining and Full-Service Catering
