Really Good Mexican Food 8/21/2005

A great local restaurant, Carmelita's has some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. It's hard to find a good Mexican restaurant anymore but we were pleasantly surprised when we ate here. The prices are really good as well. Four people can eat well for under thirty dollars. All I have to say is be sure to try the chicken enchiladas! more

Good mexican food! 8/15/2005

I found this restaurant through a dining night with friends and came to try other items that were better. The taco salad is the best when you ask for shredded beef not ground beef. I don't believe authentic mexican food is made with ground beef. They have excellent enchiladas. Their chips, salsa, and guacomole are good as well. They have mexican deco around the restaurant and the service is very prompt. Takeout is available and usually what I do now because of the wait time. They do have a new restaurant on 66st. that has less wait time. more

Really good Mexican food! 7/23/2005

Carmelita's is an authentic Mexican restaurant located on Park Street in St. Pete. I have been going here ever since I was younger and have always been pleased. I was actually a little disappointed that on my last visit, the servers were not real Mexican woman in their traditional skirts, as in the past. Other than that they did change my favorite item on the menu which is chicken flautas, which were good, but not the same as they used to be. Overall the quality of food is good, and the prices are fairly reasonable. Their yellow rice is amazing, and is cooked perfect every time. They also do not have a liquor license, so sadly, no margaritas. If you are just looking for good Mexican food though, this is worth a trip/ more
