Carlson Pet Hospital

The actual vets are great, it is the staff that is the issue. On one occasion, I took my pet for treatment of heartworms. After dropping him off at 7am I was called in the afternoon to be informed they "didn't realize he was there for heartworm treatment and failed to start the treatment early enough" (it was the only reason he was there). I also had made an appointment 2 months in advance for rabies vaccination and teeth cleaning and showed up to be informed that the appointment was only for the rabies vc. and that they couldn't perform the teeth cleaning because they were too booked up (I took days off work for both these occasions). There was never any apology from the staff. Just a "you can re-schedule". The front office staff has never been professional or provide customer service at an acceptable level. Until they can correct this you should seek a vet somewhere else. more

i use to take my dogs there but no longer will do to the prices and rudeness of the staff. i had an issue with my bill and called for weeks just to be sent to voice mail and never called back. no i have a $50 doller bill that has been sent to collections due to there lack of communication and lies. i will never refer anyone there again more

I've been using Carlson Pet Hospital for over 16 years, my aunt has used them since I can remember and my Grandmother used them from 1968 up until she passed away in 2007. On occasion (in the past when they were closed and before the Emergency Vet) we have had to take our pets to other vet clinics over the years but we always return to Dr. Carlson because she really cares about the animals. Dr. Carslon called me one evening at 9pm to see how my dog was doing after he had received emergency surgery at the clinic... I see some negative comments and reviews on here and I have to disagree with every single one fo the. I feel for their loss, but I know MANY people that take their pets to Dr. Carlson and they (and their pets) love Dr. Carlson and have never had a bad expeirence there. The staff is very good too and I always get my "Nikki" well taken care of while there. more

I have known many vets, but few compare to the care I get at Carlson Pet Hospital. I first found them out of necessity. Our dog made a trip to the ER Vet Clinic one night and had to be checked out around 7:00 am, but wasn't in any condition to go home. Our vet wasn't open and wasn't going to be able to take our dog on such short notice. The Staff at Carlson not only took us in, but cleaned him up and monitored him for any changes before releasing him. Oh and did I mention that they double checked his vaccination records and got him up to date on that too. My experience has been great. They are good communicators and ask before they do anything that is not routine or costs more money. They offer a wide range of services like micro-chipping (probably the best investment next to your regular vaccinations and other maintenance) and their on-line store is with in cents of Pet-Care-RX. I had been bringing my dog there for about 5 years and he was only 6 years old. They killed him a few days ago by putting a tube down his throat and the food went down the wrong pipe. I know this was an accident, but I will never trust a vet again. Please make sure you let the vet know you want to be called about any invasive procedures as this was a nightmare for us to go through. more

Dr. Carlson became my vet when she saved my friend's Siamese. Another vet had given up on her but, thanks to Dr. Carlson's skills and caring, the cat had several more years of good life.\r The staff is friendly and the facilities are well-kept. I recommend them more

This vet is a great choice for those that live on the west side of Springfield. I have a couple of friends who live over there and this is their vet. They have been going here for years and have been very pleased with the service and the quality of care for their pets. I have heard really great things about this vet here and there around town as well. The prices are similar to other vets in the area. Definitely a great vet to choose for your animals. more
